Upgrade to Windows 10?

Anything I should do for Nvidia drivers?

You should remove them before or after the upgrade, then restart a couple of times and let WU to install the driver they have there and then launch the 353.62 setup downloaded from nvidia.com, it will restart again removing the WU version and install itself in its place.

A bit of a pain but everything is installed and works fine (as far as I can tell) after that.

And even after making a making a media disk, on my usb, I still can not install. It is asking me for my CD key and when I put in the only key I have from my Win 7 disk it tells me that is not a valid key. I tried to use the key from the reddit page and that does not work either, which is weird since I have win 7 Pro. I am not sure what to do at this point, might just have to wait until Microsoft tell me I can update to Win 10 =/.

You press skip. You don't need a key. It activates when you connect to the internet.

I just couldn't get enough Minecraft.

I first upgraded my Win7, but now I did fresh install. Everything is better and faster. But can somebody say how can I cast my desktop to Xbox one wireless display app? Windows 10 can't find Xbone.

This was far and away the easiest OS installation/upgrade I've ever done. From the time I clicked the download tool to the time it was up and running was like 10 minutes, and everything just works. Extremely impressed so far.

Try connecting it to the xbox app as if your going to stream the xbox to the desktop. Then see if the other thing detected it. Also try to search for other devices if that doesn't work.

Finally decided to install Windows 10. As soon as i did, i got the "something happened" with the windows creation tool. I read up on it, and changing my region locale to en-us worked for some reason.

After that initial bump, the install went perfectly fine. Just took a while to get windows activated, which is expected since the servers must be getting hammered. Also installed some of the drivers from Asus for my MB, some WHQL, some still "beta", even though everything was recognized/installed by windows and working. I still went ahead with the ones that had a more recent date than the windows supplied ones, but got an error with the Management Engine from Intel, not like i really need it anyway. Might not install them and let windows do it when i clean install.

So far, i'm happy, everything works and it's fast ( Win7 was fast for me too anyway ). Since i have activated Windows 10 from the upgrade, i guess i am safe to "clean" install from a dvd/usb right ?

What region setting did you have before setting it to US English? Canada or Australia?

It had been working fine for me in Win 7 (I just finished the main game 2 days ago) and the only change I've made is installing Windows 10. So I'm at a loss. It just hangs on the the logo dialog and doesn't even get to the videos.

Video card driver maybe? What video card are you running, AMD or NVidia?

Code:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>sfc /scannow

Beginning system scan. This process will take some time.

Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some
of them. Details are included in the CBS.Log windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For

supported in offline servicing scenarios.

Anyone tried running sfc? I went from 8.1 Enterprise -> 10 Enterprise and everything is working great, but I wanted to check system files and I keep getting this message.

Brief browse through CBS.log shows:

tried streaming via ethernet, i can't really notice any controller lag. quality is 7 or 8 out of 10 for me. maybe once twc upgrades my area to maxx, with 200mbps it'll be better?

It looks like it tried to install windows 10 three times today (according to history) and each time it failed. Any ideas?

I downloaded an iso and selected to have a clean install, yet a bunch of old games and documents were left intact on my C drive. Does anyone know why this happened? Also, would it be safe to just go ahead and delete shit?

If your game isn't working, reinstall, or reinstall the redist files. Some people had to verify integrity for some games.

My pc is slower to boot up and to shut down now. Also tried usf4 with TE2 ps3/ps4 arcade stick and it worked as normal, also tried witcher 3 with 360 remote and sli and also functioned normal. Everything fine right now excet boot up time.

So, people who's been tinkering with it all day, what's the verdict so far?
I loooooove W10 so far. I really can find no flaws. Simple design, stuff's where it should be, everything works, seems faster than W7. Edge is great too.

10/10 would 10 again

Sweet. Got a new laptop today, upgraded to 10, activated Windows online, now I can do a fresh install from a usb drive and install 8 billion drivers. I feel lucky after skimming this thread.

Noticed this as well. Boot times are are a good few seconds slower than W7 (Samsung 840 Pro 512)

Another FYI, if you haven't resized your start menu to maximum size, you should.

Well yeah of course it's easier plug-and-play, but MotioninJoy is more powerful. Notably, XInput Wrapper doesn't let you swap the DPAD with the left stick.

If you want more control sure, but I honestly hated making sure six axis was off because it always acted up in ps2 emulator.

Have had to admit defeat today.

having to buy a win 10 key.

Went well upgrading this morning but it was really sloppy to use so decided to do clean install. That went ok until I tried to activate which has caused me all sorts of problems. Even had a MS Dude remotely in my system.

Have tried installing numerous different versions, 8, 8.1, 8.1 pro but none of them accepted my legit key.

the key I had was an legit upgrade to 8.1 pro (without having 8 originally) which I suspect was my problem.

despite that ive obtained a fairly cheap 10 key which between that and the 8.1 upgrade are still less than half price windows 10 so I cant complain too much.

You tried the installer specifically made for the upgrade key?

I'm trying to download it using this tool right now but it's been stuck at 0% progress for the last 15-20 mins or so. I take it it's a server load issue?

I don't know for sure but it is supposed to download a couple of gigs so could very well be the servers are stressed right now

Try right it as Admin just to make sure

No controller lag for me but I would score the quality the same and I have the 220 download 20 upload package from TWC. It was all fuzzy. I couldn't permanently play like that unless the quality was perfect.
