Upgrade to Windows 10?

tried streaming via ethernet, i can't really notice any controller lag. quality is 7 or 8 out of 10 for me. maybe once twc upgrades my area to maxx, with 200mbps it'll be better?

I thought Xbox streaming just worked through the LAN? Speed should depend entirely on how fast your router's ethernet ports are and not your ISP speed.

I'm confused. I used the upgrade tool to do a clean install over my Preview build. It started off as un-activated, as expected. I tried a couple keys I had (win 7, win 7 ultimate, win 8 upgrade) but all of them gave me errors. I gave up for now, and rebooted. Now it says windows is active. How do I know if I'm okay?

Cortana seems bugged to me. The menu reads like it's on but she doesn't do shit. The pill menu just says "at the moment" as if that's an option

OK that's weird. Same card as me, and ram. I just have an i5 4690k instead.

Are you overclocked? I've had to dial mine back a bit since W10.

Damn that is weird. Not overclocked and re-verified the game cache. Just tried turning off Windows Defender to see if that helps but no dice.

Origins and Saints Row 3 are so far the only two games not to work (tried Mordor, Company of Heroes, Gas Guzzlers Extreme, Space Hulk, and a bunch of others)

http://www.neowin.net/news/microsof...de-counter-shows-install-rate-of-16-per-scond

Microsoft's Windows 10 upgrade counter shows install rate of 16 per second

If you look at the video from the tweet below, you can see how quickly the figure is going up. While we don't know how many installs have been completed as the entire number is not shown, based on the short video, we can see that the figure is counting up at a rate of about 16 installs per second ( I was told that 16/s is a limitation on the counter and that the figure is actually higher).

personally I think it way more then that

If it says that you're activated, you should be OK. It registers your hardware ids with MS automatically, and probably did so when you rebooted. So you shouldn't worry (until you replace hardware at least)

Is there a list being compiled anywhere for all the compatibility issues?

And does the upgrade just work like Windows update, or an actual Windows installation? Because I want to install it on a different drive but it looks like there might be extra steps involved to do that.

I can't find Minecraft 10 in the store. Is there any special thing I have to do, or is it just region restricted like everything else in that useless store?

Edit: First thing that popped up when I started store after writing this post was Minecraft.

So far so good. All the buttons are where I left them. Steam installed fine, basic games loaded my saves flawlessly. Need to try some controller-based games next, see how my DS4 holds up.

They said in the other thread it won't yet because it's the pocket version.

roflwut, it's literally the difference of rendering the game maximized + the vertical space of title bar + taskbar. this could only possibly make sense if the game only ran at a fixed resolution.

Now have a new problem, cortana crashed on me and made the start menu non responsive so I rebooted. It then wouldn't restart just kept blue screening. I tried startup repair but no dice, I did manage to get system restore to work even though it said it failed. So I then decided to reset through recovery menu. It tells me it failed to reset now just boot loops a black screen. Is my only option now to burn a disk and try a fresh install. Please help if you can

Okay! Skyrim with ENB and SKSE is working fine for me, as are Fallout 3 and Arkham City!

Subnautica used to stutter terribly in the shallows but that is hardly noticeable now. What kind of sorcery did Microsoft use for this? :)

It's automatically activated for me. Not sure if you need to use your MS account to register the windows though.
I upgraded, then clean installed, then signed into my MS account.

Not once did I have to put in any CD key, though I don't know how I'll install my legit Windows 10 if I build a new PC a few years from now.
So once I upgrade can I clean install?
Yes. I just used the iso on boot, went to install, formatted the drive, and completed instalation.

I am getting an, "Unfortunately your PC is unable to run Windows 10" message when I click the icon. When I view the report, it tells me there is nothing to report right now, and that I can reserve my upgrade, and that when Windows is ready, it will run another report.

How do I fix this?

Help?

All installed and been on the go for the past three or so hours. Works like a charm so far. I connected the Xbox One and tried streaming a little, it is a teeny bit choppy, I might use some ethernet cables and see if that changes anything. The PC and Xbone are two feet apart though, so it's not something I'll ever use, really. The oddity I had was that Dirt Rally now says that Steam isn't ready for me to use it, whatever that means! It won't boot into the game. I tried out a few other games and they run just as well. Happy with Windows 10!

I have upgraded, but when trying to create the Media Creation Tool with my usb key. I always get Something went wrong message. Same with the ISO. So how do i go about doing a clean install if those 2 option are not working

I can't update, it says it failed and the Windows 10 prompt says its still validating my system. I don't know what is going on.

Just tried to upgrade from Win7 using the Media Create tool. Everything was going smoothly until the PC rebooted. It rebooted into Win7, and then I was presented with a window telling me the installation failed, and my Windows was reset back to how it was before, followed by the message:

Tthe installation failed in the safe_os phase

No clue what to do from here. Did some googling and found very mixed, vague answers to what might be the cause.

No matter what I do pc doesn't shut down, pressing shut down in task bar restarts pc, and manully pressing shut down button on case gives me a error msg then restarts... How do I revert back or do a clean install?

Man reading NeoGaf on Windows 10 makes the experience 10x better...

The only Issue I had was the Nvidia graphic drivers, but I fix that and I have had no problems since.
