Upgrade to Windows 10?

Yeah my download is ongoing (win7). Currently the folder is 5.75GB but my download speed is 0 so I guess it's unpacking.

Edit: It's finished at 6.25GB

Just FYI, there was a security update the other day that bollocksed up a few things causing explorer.exe to crash. Includes uninstalling programs and running any right-click option (status, uninstall, properties, etc.) on any network adapter. Caused me no end of grief and blue screens trying to install VMware Workstation until I found that out.

So, I'm reading reports that people with the RTM build are also downloading the ISO automatically? Perhaps the retail build is somehow even newer?

I'm running 10240 and no hidden folders here yet.

Been reading that Windows 10 is already out. I have the icon on my PC but Im not seeing any download(I want to do a clean install) what do I have to do in order to locate this?

@Ratselttab Windows 10 is not officially supported just yet, keep an eye out for more information on that in the near future.

How smooth is the upgrade process to 10? I'm going to be jumping straight from 7 to 10, anyone know if there will be issues with upgrading versus going the clean install route?

As a precaution, you may want to manually download any important Win10 drivers for your hardware before hand.

My hardware is all X79 stuff, everything worked perfectly after upgrade.

You must upgrade to transfer your license, then clean install by ISO. ISOs have already leaked if you look for them.

Just deleted my Insider Preview partition, and reserved for Windows 10 on my 8.1 partition. Probably won't get it for a few weeks though. New PC OS on a large scale, even one has beta tested as Win10, is always a risk. Especially PC where hardware is extremely varied.

I know my laptop already has the ISO that has been out for a week, but since I already signed up for it on my desktop I want to download it legit and make an ISO of it, just not sure how to find it here on my PC. I see the icon near the clock but there isnt anything about it being available..Im in California

Can I 'reserve' my copy without having to install it right there and then, the moment it launches?

Correct, you'll be able to upgrade when you want to. You'll even be able to pick a date and time for when you want it to happen, in case you're away from your machine for a while.

Windows 10 Icon not showing up

I did all known solutions and contacted support. No one did anything to fix it.

Any tips?

Looks like the installer has already downloaded for me too. Really tempted to install right now to say the least, but I suppose I'll wait a while longer. Don't want to lose the functionality of my DS4, especially now that I'm playing games that definitely need it

I wondered the same thing when the icon started showing up for other people. I tried a whole bunch of different things but it just showed up eventually.

Is your Windows genuine (not pirated)? Do you have an enterprise license? Is your Windows completely up to date and Windows Update not disabled or anything?

i've been using 10 for over a week and i adore it. it's a massive step up from win7 in basically every way.

my only problem so far is that no virtual drive software seems to be able to handle disc images with multi-track audio in w10 yet, which means i can't play music in a lot of older pc games or use several emulators with my ripped discs for the time being. if anyone has any suggestions i'm all ears. :)

If I installed the Windows 10 preview, can I just fed it my Windows 8 key or will I need to reinstall Windows 8 and upgrade back to Windows 10?

Here is a guide to make an ISO from the upgrade files.

If you installed over Windows 8, that will become your licensed version of Windows 10. You can stay or leave the preview program after launch.
