Says my 980 Ti is not compatible, lol

Won't let me proceed with an upgrade due to that. I tried manually running the assessment tool and same thing.
My 980 Ti said it's compatible. What Nvidia driver are you using? I'm using 353.49 on Win 7.
It is. I've been checking for updates for the last 2 hours to see if anything pops up but itfuckingnothing.gif mostly windows defender stuff. I formatted my computer 2 weeks ago.
No reserve icon for me ever since I formatted my computer. It won't come on again even with all the different methods out there. I guess im screwed.
What's the cheapest way to get Win10 without the upgrade deal?
Might need one for another PC I'm building.
Forget to ask - How does refreshing and choosing to remove everything works? It's not actually formatting your SSD/HDD is it?

Haven't been following the thread but have you got a tutorial web link or something on how to do this?
Cheers
Ok managed to get the windows 10 app come up and reserve my copy. Update centre says it's reserved and to await update. I should probably go to bed at this point. Does it download automatically? If so I'll leave my pc on overnight
Depending on if you go to school or where you work, you may have DreamSpark or MSDN keys available which you could use.
In terms of buying it new from a legit source, Amazon looks like they have Windows 8.1 for $90 ($10 cheaper than Win10 so not a huge discount).
It formats the drive on which Windows is located, yes. I would highly recommend making sure you have a backup, or unplugging drives you wouldn't want touched.
So one guy says DS4Windows works for him, another says it doesn't. Can anyone shed any light on this? It's the only thing keeping me from upgrading.
Are you using 353.38?
i have done all updates its still saying it will tell me when windows is ready to install. I'm in uk and its 1:16am

If I have Windows 7 Ultimate, will the W10 upgrade only be for the Home Edition?
By "all the different methods," I take it you mean making the ReserveWindows10.exe file and running it through an elevated command prompt? What happens when you do?
Have you tried this? Beware by clicking this link a zip file starts to download
http://www.hazoth.net/win10fix_full.zip
unzip in a folder of your choice,
copy the path to the file
start cmd in admin mode
press enter and then you have this

my icon popped up after step two
I'm not sure if you've tried this already but give it a read, it might help.

Guess its gonna keep trying automatically until its actually unlocked worldwide.
A few posts up (#873) says it works fine.Might as well ask here as well: if I upgrade now and want to do a clean install in a week on a new SSD, would that be an issue?
Are there still people even running the tech preview though. The last big update got rid of the watermark, and my computer properties screen would have me believe I have a legit copy of Windows 10 with a product key and everything. You don't really reserve anything, when you upgrade 7/8.1 the license is converted to win 10. So you need to install 7/8.1, activate and upgrade to 10 on the 29th. I think they said there is an issue with activation currently so you can't just upgrade to the tech preview and get the license converted as previously was possible.
edit: nevermind it gave a error when trying to install.....Almost...

Mine is just plain 8.1 I think.I guess the different sizes of $Windows folders pertains to what version of Windows you have now?
Mine is 4.35GB and I have Windows 8.1 Pro.
This did the trick for me on 8.1: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/...indows_10_if_you_dont_have_the_folder/ctjlcdb

My first text on reddit. If you failed by running setup.exe and this command (wuauclt.exe /updatenow) is not working to you need to DELETE all contents from C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download. Worked for me! Because of deleted BT content my updater didnt work (some errors on past updates in Windows 10 Update), now works!
Anyone with an Alienware laptop( i got myself a m14x r2 , with dell recommanded driver installed, not the latest nvidia one), can tell me if your system run windows10 fine? These screen up there( unless nvidia release a driver) start to scare the shit out of me.

I read a lot of posts about a fresh and clean install. Is it also possible to just upgrade your existing OS to 10 and retain all the settings, programs and files?
Just tried this and Win10 is downloading from the updates window
Just passing it along for those who are having the same problem I had.

I had it get all the way through "preparing to install" then crap out. Trying this now. It's starting over and redownloading. We'll see..Just tried this and Win10 is downloading from the updates window
