This thing (the Media Creation Tool) has been "Checking for updates" for me for like half an hour and it's at only 14%. It's going up in percentage but horribly slowly. That normal?

Not really, took 10-15 minutes for me all in all. Granted they may have region-based servers, I'm in Scandinavia/EU so maybe those servers aren't as overloaded.

Was only for 5 minutes on that step, but that was this morning(Europe). Maybe there's more traffic now.

Annoyingly though it's switched the way I 2 finger scroll around; now I'm constantly scrolling up instead of down...
You can change the way it scrolls in the ASUS Smart Gesture app.
My touchpad works now, but going a page forward and backwards in Edge doesn't work.

Oh yeah you did. My download was very fast, though. Capped out my 50mb/s connection.

Everybody asking for a key needs to let windows 10 install normally. It never asks for a key, it just does its thing and you are good to go. Patience will solve your problems.
That is the general consensus, yes. Also what the tool page says if you read it carefully. Easy to miss.
It's managing to let me access my boot options and others whenever I force it to shutdown so I'd assume so.
Yes. You can upgrade, then inside Windows 10 there's a reinstall option which wipes C: and reinstalls the OS from recovery partition.

Whenever I try to system reset on windows 10 I get stuck at the "Choose your keyboard layout" menu after it reboots. The mouse doesn't do anything (laser is on), and the keyboard don't work and it's LEDs don't work. So I'm unable to do anything and it's effectively frozen. I don't need to do it I just thought I'd try it.
Left my PC on overnight on the "It's taking longer than usual please wait" screen and it was still on that screen in the morning. Took the chance of turning the computer off and on and it booted up into windows fine, phew!
Now Xbox, Store, hell even Calculator crashes or doesn't boot up when I try to open itt. Any ideas on how to fix it? The only app I tried that doesn't do it is the internet browser.

Hope you guys like the update.
It's come a long way in just a couple months. I'm hoping over the next month or so they tighten up the UI as much as they have the past month. If so, I might use it as my main browser.

Works fine for me plugged in and using it with games that natively support it, as well as wirelessly with InputMapper (even with Exclusive Mode enabled).
Why is there no way to check if the background download is actually happening? I would just say screw that and download manually, but I don't know if I ever wrote down my key. I got it free while I was in college. I can't log in to where I downloaded it from now since I graduated.
I'll just do the refresh your pc thing after upgrading

You don't need a key if you force the update through the run command mentioned throughout this thread. Just don't use the ISO.

Nothing prompted, if I try to search for updates now it says all updates have been installed and the previous 5GB-sized folder ($Windows.~BT) has been reduced to 140 MB.
Not sure what to do now. Can't do the direct one either because all my USBs are occupied.

If you can access the search icon on the task bar.
Search for Settings > update & security > recovery
If you want to try reinstall, hope you don't run into the choose your keyboard layout situation I ran into where my mouse and keyboard couldn't function to select anything.
If it's downloading 10, it will show in your windows update.
I've done it twice now and was never asked for a key.
I have a question for those who installed from 8.1 (or any version for that matter)
I noticed there's a new "Recovery Partition" on my hard drive, despite clearing the previous version of Windows (via Disk Cleanup utility). I was wondering if there's any way to clear or delete this considering my System Reserve is already shown to be a separate segment within my hard drive.

It doesn't say that for me in Windows update, yet my $windows folder is getting bigger. It's at 4.47gb now.
I upgraded through the download tool and it's activated. Was that the iso file?
Really happy with Windows 10 right now. The AMD Catalyst software works again, hasn't worked for the past 3 years on Windows 7.
I managed to fix it. If anyone is getting the same error, run Powershell in admin mode and paste this command:
Restart, and it should work.

Man, this has been one big headache so far. For whatever reason, my MSI Z97 Gaming 5 BIOS did not like whatever the Windows 10 upgrade did to it during setup. When my PC rebooted during setup it'd just freeze on the initial BIOS screen. I eventually stumbled upon the fix of disconnecting my SSD, starting the system without it hooked up, turning it off and then connecting the SSD again. For whatever reason, that allowed it to boot. Did that three times during the setup process, then again when I rebooted after getting into the OS.
Decided to update my BIOS after that (not like the one I was using was ancient, being from last November), which seems to have solved that issue for good. However, I now can't activate Windows. It just throws up the error code 0xC004F034, which apparently means the licence can't be found or is invalid. All I want to do is have my licence sorted so that I can do a clean install. Upgrading like this is always a complete fucking mess, and so it's proven again.

Alright. I need some help here TechGAF. I started the installation process around 7:30 AM. It's now 9:45 AM. At first everything was going fine. The process was at 15% when my screen went blank, but was still lit up. I've tried forcing it off, then turning it back on, but that doesn't help. It still lets me access the standard Windows boot screen if that can help me out. Anyways, after it loads past the boot screen is when it continues to hang on a dimly lit empty screen.

I've loved Windows 10 for the few days I've been using it.
First thing I noticed was that my benchmark scores actually went up using the same driver.
But now I have an issue where I manually install new Nvidia drivers, but after the installation my video cards are no longer recognized. The only way to fix it is to let Windows manually install the drivers itself. Really, really annoying. I mean... what happens if a new driver is bad and I want to revert?

Edit: But hey, if all else fails I have a 8 key, then I can just update to 8.1 and then to 10! The joys of Windows.

I have similar problems
my left click and right clicks arent working in any modern/ metro apps. ive tried a different mouse and reinstalling the drivers as well as restarting the pc but nothing fixed it.

This is because the Nvidia website published drivers are older than the windows update drivers. The old drivers have a SLI recognition issue. The new ones don't.
Roll with the windows update drivers until things settle down.
