This thing (the Media Creation Tool) has been "Checking for updates" for me for like half an hour and it's at only 14%. It's going up in percentage but horribly slowly. That normal?

Was only for 5 minutes on that step, but that was this morning(Europe). Maybe there's more traffic now. This thing (the Media Creation Tool) has been "Checking for updates" for me for like half an hour and it's at only 14%. It's going up in percentage but horribly slowly. That normal?
Not really, took 10-15 minutes for me all in all.
Mine didn't work properly so I went to the manufacturer's website (Asus) and downloaded the drivers. It wasn't completely non-functional though. Is yours showing up in Device Manager?
You can change the way it scrolls in the ASUS Smart Gesture app.Yeah, I've already fixed it.
Annoyingly though it's switched the way I 2 finger scroll around; now I'm constantly scrolling up instead of down...
Lol, I wrote about it just some posts ago
Anyway yes, it's normal, it will speed up in a while (now I'm 90% to go).
So to do a clean install I first need to 'upgrade' so that my windows 8.1 cdkey works with windows 10?
Can you get into safe mode or recovery?

My touchpad works now, but going a page forward and backwards in Edge doesn't work.
do i have to get this within a certain timeframe or will the offer always be open to upgrade?
FakeEdit: Also Edge is a piece of shit browser, frequently stalls when typing
When it says "Keep personal files and apps" what does it mean by apps? Everything that's installed on the PC?
So, DS4 still doesn't work right?
Most likely, there should be a list of which apps won't work and will be deleted before you complete the final option. For me it was stuff like Divix, Diablo 3, Battle.net, and such.
Why is there no way to check if the background download is actually happening? I would just say screw that and download manually, but I don't know if I ever wrote down my key. I got it free while I was in college. I can't log in to where I downloaded it from now since I graduated.
.. Weird. I had optional installs (including a few Windows 7 security updates) and when I chose to have them installed, only NOW does Windows 10 say its downloading.
My start button doesn't work. Everytime I try to use one of the new apps or open the settings app I get "The trial period for this app has expired." I can't even open the store app. What should I do? Is there a way to reinstall?

Yes, it's real. If you click on the menu of the games page, you'll see an upgrade to premium option.
The 55 and older crowd will single-handedly fund Microsoft with this.
This is a sexy OS.
I'm loving the dark theme, even Edge has a dark theme. Screw white on computers, everything should be black.
The fuck.
Apparently not even Solitaire is safe from microtransaction bullshit. Solitaire.
You don't need a key if you force the update through the run command mentioned throughout this thread. Just don't use the ISO.
If it's downloading 10, it will show in your windows update.
I've done it twice now and was never asked for a key.

Those who upgraded with the .iso file, is your Windows 10 activated?

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
It doesn't say that for me in Windows update, yet my $windows folder is getting bigger. It's at 4.47gb now.
I managed to fix it. If anyone is getting the same error, run Powershell in admin mode and paste this command:
Restart, and it should work.
You can bypass the failure by deleting the contents of a folder and running a command prompt like in OP.
I've loved Windows 10 for the few days I've been using it.
First thing I noticed was that my benchmark scores actually went up using the same driver.
But now I have an issue where I manually install new Nvidia drivers, but after the installation my video cards are no longer recognized. The only way to fix it is to let Windows manually install the drivers itself. Really, really annoying. I mean... what happens if a new driver is bad and I want to revert?
