Upgrade to Windows 10?

Clean installation went very smooth using the MSDN ISO ("en_windows_10_multiple_editions_x64_dvd_6846432.iso"). I used the product key that I obtained using Speccy after the inplace upgrade.

Okay i'm going post this once...don't worry about a clean install. Honestly in modern versions of windows with nt that isn't very often important. If you really want to clean install use the reset this pc in the options. This is nearly the same and much much less hassle and pain

This is even more true if you have an SSD. There is almost no reason to do a clean install other than OCD.

Anyone know how to fix this? I ran bit defender and Malware bytes and nothin turned up.

Click Clean System? Also get a A/V on the go asap. Trend Micro do an online scanner called house call that could help.

Also, got Windows to activate after the equivalent of F5 spam.

I am having an error activating and those are the digits I'm getting ad my product key
Yeah I was fed the same last 5 digit product key through the insider program, was getting the error about activation.

I just got mine to activate. First I tried activating again through the Activation window and it didn't work and so I ran cmd as admin and typed in
slmgr /ato
with the Activation window open this time and it went through. Hopefully this helps.

If you download the ISO, mount it, and then run the 'setup.exe' from within your current Win8.1 installation, you should be fine.

Drivers are tricky, but I believe the installer will check to see if there are any known hardware issues before proceeding, so you should get an idea on if everything will continue working.

So a weird side thing I dual booted win10 beta.

Not a big deal but I still have the files on my second HDD despite not having the option to boot into windows 10 beta any longer.

Attempting to delete them gives an error.

Attempting to format the drive gives a locked drive error.

So my computer's downloaded the update and it's ready to install. Should I do it? Are there any known compatibility issues with older games? How easy is it to go back to Windows 8.1 OEM?

Tried to install Nvidia drivers and it failed and told me to restart my PC and try again, now it tells me "Found New Hardware Wizard is open. Close the wizard to continue installation or wait until it is finished"

Anyone knows what's up with that? Also, I've seen talk earlier about there being potential problems with Nvidia and auto updates and someone posted a way to disable it?

I can't get it to install at all.

I've tried the media thing from the website and it gets to 100% then throws up an error, windows update downloads everything , goes through preparation and then crashes etc

The cmd line trick doesn't work either.

has it been pushed out for everyone in the UK or should I just leave it and wait for MS to sort shit on their end ?

its telling me that the specific product key is blocked. I guess I'll try reinstalling.

try the following:
- check if you reserved system partition is 100mb or so, if yes, increase it to 300-400mb
- turn off antivirus (in my case I turned off KIS)
- medial tool: try to download through usb option

So just done the upgrade. No problems, works fine, it feels just like windows 8.1 but with a few changes and a start button, but I'm used to W8 so it's fine.

I'm more interested in the changes under the hood though, gaming performance and DX12 are my main reasons for wanting W10, so a more efficient OS and improvements for gaming should be great in the future.
