(US Release) Donkey Kong Jungle Beat Thread

If I had access to postal services or enough free time on my hands this weekend, I would give you a nice deal on my copy.

I don't need it ASAP, if you could do it a few weeks from now, that would be fine with me. also, would the copy include the drums?

I'm going to trade it in pretty soon, and like I said, it's extremely inconvenient. I was just being hypothetical. Sorry. :/

Ah, that's cool. I thought you really dug the game, how come you're trading it in then?

I find it disturbing and all-too common in this forum for someone to go ga-ga over a game (i.e.: give it a 9.2 review) and then talk about selling it within a week.

Just when I was about to toss down $50CDN on it... no replay value or something?

Heh, I sell my games no matter how good they are. Then I find myself buying the really good ones at a higher price than what I sold it for. :/

I think this is just a case of Speevy being insane. :P

Wow, this game was a genuine surprise. Definitly the most thoroughly enjoyable platformer I've played this generation. Its a shame that it didnt have a larger budget, because some nagging little things keep it from reaching "classic" status (the criminal recycling of bosses is the most blatent).

The presentation is the best Nintendo has mustered this generation outside of Wind Waker. Great. Fucking. Game.

I played this for awhile this weekend, and it was really fun! Definitely better than the music game if you have the kongas. You must get it if you do and don't own this one.

I agree with what I saw about the bosses. It's a little bit frustrating to me that when Nintendo has something this good, they don't go above and beyond with the content angle. Their games are too "small".

Nice surprise, though.

Told ya. :D

Attention PAL gamers - I just ordered it off play.com for ÂŁ17.99 with free bongos! Thats 29 euros.A really great deal.

Weekend impressions

Bought this for my gf last week and she played it awhile Saturday/Sunday.

It's very simplistic; run, jump, fly, swim, clap, grab bananas and kill a few bosses. Really, it's a just a much simpler Donkey Kong Country......

However, the bongos as a control mechanism works quite well and somehow makes it exciting and fresh instead of a crutch! Remarkably it only takes an hour or two to master them.

The graphics are crisp and clean, and the levels and bosses quite fun! Cool to watch, cool to play, check it out if you want something fresh!

Replay factor comes in getting gold medals in all the levels (ie lots of bananas).

Charm factor: 10/10

You might want platinum medals...

It sounds to me like you haven't learned of the combo system yet. IMO it's nothing like DKC other than having platforming, and I would say it's more complex.

Admittedly, I've mostly watched, and I have not played i extensively yet, however the game moves and feels a lot like DKC. Boss attack patterns are all old school (I helped my gf figure out each pattern within seconds/minutes).

I do see how the combo system works to get more bananas, however it's still very obviously a platformer at heart with a new control scheme; perhaps a mix of Nights in there somewhere with the bouncing around and getting lots of points for consecutive moves.

GAF really knows how to turn a praise into an insult; I hope that's not an insult to those of you who enjoy the game as I loved both those games. Maybe I didn't emphasize enough but the Bongos add tremendously to the game and the quirkiness actually adds to the fun here.

I enjoy the game, don't pick a fight with me :lol
