US Senators "Deeply Concerned" About Microsoft's Proposed Deal To Buy Activision Blizzard

I love seeing these mega corporations/ politicians get all twisted up in trying to prove how sincere they care about sexual assault allegations all the while forcing lgbtq issues on kids which embraces irreversible gender reassignment surgery, it's a God damn infinite twisted pretzel of nonsense that they've backed themselves into all in the name of "woke".

These people give two fucks about anything unless it impacts their wallet, plain and simple. They'll use any other excuse to come across as sincere to appeal to the smooth brains on Twitter.

Wait is the politics around blocking a business merger involving a politician able to avoid the no politics rule on Neogaf?

Watch this thread to find out.
yeah, I was wondering too.

Anyway, just here to say that the 'democratic' party and the conservative party are both awful. Oh, and the two party system in general sucks.

Bye Bye.

Looks like Warren needs some political donations.

so are these guys looking for payouts or what?

Does a bear shit in the woods?

Democrat senators upset about a companies culture while Nancy Pelosi and other politicians inside trade

All political bullshit
While some senstors are definitely corrupt, Sanders and Warren have been consistent in their anti corruption and anti corporate influence messages. Sanders doesn't own any stocks

Sen. Bernie Sanders told Insider that he decided long ago against owning individual stocks.

"Obviously, you don't want conflicts of interest here," the Vermont independent said while walking through the tunnels beneath Capitol Hill.

There was one exception: Sanders recounted spending about $500 on IBM stock while he was serving in the House of Representatives so he could rail against proposed changes to the company's retirement program during a shareholders' meeting.

Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts turned Insider's Conflicted Congress findings into a call to action, blasting colleagues "who think it's OK to be in a position of trust to represent the people of this country and at the same time to be working to advance your own financial interests."

"It's just wrong," Warren, a two-term lawmaker and anticorruption advocate, told Insider.

Of course Senators are deeply concerned. That's their primary emotion. If they weren't concerned about something all they would have to say is "hey, looks like all is well and I'm not needed here!" Has anyone ever heard a politician of any ilk say that?

I mean the reason Americans have ended up with a shit show of a President like Biden is convincing the general population that even the good politicians are cut from the same cloth as the shit ones

Why are we still doing these threads? Can we combine them or something. This is silly and ridiculous. We all know it's going through.

Disney buying Fox is fine but this is not? Dumb.
And you know these people didn't voice concerns about that how? It is not just about this deal, it is consolidation in general. Tech companies are too fucking big and own huge chunks of several different markets. It would be less of an issue if MS Gaming split from the rest of MS. But sure have a quick take that isn't even skin deep and point fingers at something else because that is totally a valid way to look at things.

This is odd. I always figured Microsoft taking over Activision Blizzard would be a way for them to root out the issues of that company, not the other way around.

Why do they assume it would be this way?
Because unionisation efforts have a history of being busted in the face of restructuring and acquisitions

If MS was an European company I am sure the European Union would force MS to spit into multiple smaller companies and compete to each other. It happened some years ago to a Portuguese media company and it was the best thing ever! Cable and internet got cheaper!

Somebody needs to at least make corporations feel nervous about these types of purchases.
Don't be so naive. Their concern is just another show of placating to the newest current event that drives support for political donations. In other words, this is just hot air, unless Microsoft/Activision are breaking laws.

Nah, seriously, this is fine and I'm no fan of ACTIBLIZZ or MS.
The real hangup should be the ChiComs buying everything and anything they can. I do look forward to the day when all of those assets are repatriated with no recourse.

Jesus. Thinking before speaking should be a minimum requirement for elected representatives. I'm not sure they even can take this nonsense into consideration?

Wow lol. Not saying other countries has better politicians but… that is depressing

Tbh this is nothing but a shakedown attempt to get a bag of money from Microsoft under the table so the Senate approves the deal. Our senators are very corrupt and scummy some take drug cartel money too

I'm not sure why this has blown up the way it has. These Senators have no say in the matter. This is so they have a public record to show their base they stood up to big corporate.

Suppose they blow up the acquisition.. what do they plan to do? Ok.. Microsoft does not purchase Activision. And then? Everything as before?

Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
I'm not an expert on these things, but what they're complaining about seems pointless and outside of the scope of regulation. The lawsuits are between the state of California and Activision Blizzard and has nothing to do with competition, et al. Various members of Congress come together for these kinds of histrionics all of the time. Welcome to US politics.

Meanwhile, the wacky woke employees of AB are at it again……

Activision Blizzard workers plan walkout over dropped vaccine mandate

The group is demanding Activision Blizzard reverse the dropped vaccine requirement, offer remote work as a “permanent solution,” and allow workers to make these decisions regarding work-from-home individually. Supporters and participants can follow the walkout using two hashtags: #SickOfThis and #GameWorkersUnite.

Why would any sensible company want to take on this toxic workforce? They got a taste of power wagging the dog and getting the companies most successful CEO cancelled. You’ll never stop them now.
