Used Dreamcast - $20

I see em everywhere at pawn shops for $15. Better deal on a great system.

The shame is that finding the classics run a pretty penny...the only reason why I haven't repurchased a Dreamcast. If I got Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for $20 back in 2000, why would I want to pay $60-80 for it again? Shit like that.

Have fun with it if and when you get it.

so in how well condition are these pre-played systems that eb sells....do they renew the lens or something, or is it pretty crappy and all used up?

I don't think they do anything to them, but if it works when you get it, and you treat it right, it'll work for a good while after that.. (at least you'll get your $20 worth :D)

it's a pretty well-made piece of hardware.

I would be cautious of them. I got an N64 from them a couple years back. I had to go through three bad ones before finding a good one. Don't order it online, go into a store and do the deal there.

DCs are somewhat sturdy. A lot of the launch DCs were crapping out around 2001-2002 I believe but they may have been heavily used.

What is with the complete lack of interest in the Dreamcast?

Most of its AAA titles are on other consoles now?

Still, thanks for the info. Might be handy in replacing my girlfriend's dead DC.

good I needed another one

hope it's one of the early models that plays homebrewed stuff

It mostly has to do with everyone finally moving past the awful "Japan is so kawaiii ^_^" and "HAVE TO COLLECT IT ALL" phases of their life. They're like the goth phases everyone goes through in high school.

A Dreamcast and spindle of CD-Rs will provide you with more gaming for your money than anything else. There's still a handful of unique titles like JGR and uh, JGR.

You're just mad that MK:Gold was a travesty of a dog turd.

They've had this offer forever.

I bought one from them in January for $20. It was pristine. No really, it looks new. Plays like new too. Shop around.

The vast majority of them do. It wasn't just the early ones. It was for almost the entire lifespan of the console.

Quoted for truth. The Dreamcast hardcore was pretty pathetic. IGN DC alone is the reason why IGN sucks.

What sucks even more was that I was one of the DC hardcore, letting myself get convinced that steaming piles like EGG and Time Stalkers were good buys.

Whoa now...

Time Stalkers was absolute garbage, but EGG was suprisingly awesome. I actually purchased EGG for dirt cheap, so it wasn't as if I simply convinced myself to like it. It was a solid ARPG with a beautiful world, great music, and fairly enjoyable mechanics. It was also quite difficult. I never understand the hate aimed at EGG...

Evolution and Time Stalkers (both early DC RPGs) were complete junk and I will forever hate them.

DC was a good system while it lasted. A bit of a niche, but if you were into it, it was great.

I'm sorry you bought games that were crap. Most DC owners were smart enough to avoid them. Don't blame your blind gaming devotion on the system.

I actually liked Evolution 1 and 2.

I take it you were never to Blast City where every release was OMGFUCKAWESOME. I still picked up all the good releases, which are but not exclusive to:

Sonic Adventure
Power Stone
Trick Style
Marvel vs. Capcom
The King of Fighters: Dream Match 1999
Crazy Taxi
Rayman 2
Dead or Alive 2
Wacky Races
Marvel vs. Capcom 2
Power Stone 2
Tokyo Xtreme Racer 2
Jet Grind Radio
Shenmue
King of Fighters '99 Evolution
Last Blade 2
Garou: Mark of the Wolves
Project Justice
Giga Wing
Mars Matrix
Coaster Works
Sonic Adventure 2
Record of Lodoss War
Street Fighter Alpha 3
Resident Evil Code: Veronica

For Japan:

Black Matrix A/D
Super Robot Wars Alpha for Dreamcast
Super Street Fighter II Turbo
Super Puzzle Fighter II Turbo
Ikaruga
Rainbow Cotton
Seaman
Shenmue II

Then Bleemcast for Tekken 3 and Gran Turismo 2.

All this talk of these games...man. The DC days were good times.

GA is overflowing with Nintendo worship reinforced by strict moderating if your opinion differs, you don't see me running to the store and surrender to fanboy hype.

It's all about having a backbone and knowing what you like. :)

Well, I was 15 at the time. I'm not saying I wasn't dumb for getting games like Time Stalkers and Blue Stinger but still, the unnecessary hype Dreamcast hardcore fans gave for every game was pretty bad.

Yes, there was too much hype for a lot of games...and a lot of games turned out to be average. It was still exciting for some reason. :P

You named Blue Stinger too, though! That's another game I enjoyed somewhat.

We're even, though, because you liked Evolution. :)

they ran out of stock :\

but the EB Store round here has a few for the same price

and I just got a NEW copy of Seaman(the game pervs)

Back in stock at $20, first party controllers are ~$3 a piece as well. I picked one up with Shenmue, Virtua Tennis(I had a real soft spot for this game), and Jet Grind Radio, 3 controllers, and a VMU for ~$50.

the systems are tested, if they don't work then they replace parts, then they are "tested" again. 90% of the time they work fine, sometimes the wires don't work, but usually the system is fine.
