Also, just bought the game too and am preloading right now. Slightly upset by the 20$ = 20 price SEGA used, but due to prepurchasing it was -10% and even then it's a good price for an awesome game like this (especially since I have the PS3 version, but getting the DLC there costs almost as much as getting this game with the DLC on Steam.)

No no no, not at all. I couldn't even make it through 10 hours of FFXIII and that was not even the PC shitport, so you have a stronger constitution than me. This game is amazing though.

There are optional missions you can take to grind xp and cash, but you can get through the game just fine from the xp and cash you make off the story missions - especially if you get a bunch of S or A ranks (getting higher ranks in missions earns you more xp/cash).
Also note that when people say "S ranks" they mean "A ranks", and when they say "A ranks" they mean "B ranks".
There are no S ranks in anything other than the Japanese release, and this confused me a lot when I started playing the game on PS3 (I completed a mission killing all enemies in the very first turn and still got "only" an A rank).

Fair enough. Good to know it's not that grindy and that it's actually a good game compared to FFXIII

Game is pre-loading. First time playing a VC game, I am quite interested in how it plays.

I hope the games visuals look sharper when downsampled, because at native 1080 the game looks too soft and blurry for my tastes.

Amazing that people can't find the PS3 version and think it's rare. One of my local Gamestops has 5 (Five) SEALED copies sitting around still.
Maybe it's an option in "Display Mode" (I think you mean borderless fullscreen)
I've seen games refer to it as either borderless or windowed - maybe one is more correct, I don't know.

That's really weird that it's different by region like that. Did they think we wouldn't understand? I can think of a number of games that used the S moniker for highest rank before VC1 was released.

the port review article linked a couple pages back says that it is not an option
but with a windowed mode supported the chances are probably pretty good that you can just easily use a program like WIndowedBorderlessGaming regardless

I'll put some code in GeDoSaTo which will crash your game if you sharpen Valkyria. Seriously.
(It does get "sharper" -- or rather more detailed -- when you downsample though)
Normally I always is bicubic sharper in photoshop to resize my hudless captures down to 1080p. but in this case I used just bicubic. Fits better.
I'd tell you if I knew, probably tomorrow.
