Well I finished all of the selvaria including the bonus mission. I think I am gonna start my second run through the game. Do I just load up my clear data?
Your system save data will includes the Ruhm if you cleared the missions, you can load your save (main missions saves) and you can select Ruhm with the Shocktroopers.
There are 18 chapters in total. Chapters 16 and 17 have 1 battle each, 18 has 2. Chp 17 is tough, but 16 and the 18 are fairly easy, especially at such a late stage in the game.
get the tank to fire the smoke rounds, then have enough snipers (I needed four). Take them to the very edge of the smoke screen so you can see her but she can't see you. Snipe her four times (each time with a different sniper because the AI will remember the positions of your previous snipers), and you win the battle before your first round is up! Excellent!
But she is dodging almost all the shots. The only way I could beat here was using Alicia and Awaken Potential (Undodgable Shot) plus the Order which negates the counter attack of an enemy. (Costed nearly all my CPs this turn but I still got a B Rank )
It's the first time I got a D (or maybe the second time?) thanks to chapter 17. I love it though, one of my favs for sure. It gives so many different strategies, I'm going to enjoy this with new game+. About Jagear*
So he's not dead and he's gone. I always thought of him as a good man. I bet he will return again in VC2 (if there is one) and maybe help squad 7!

Currently on my New game plus... I'm amazed at how easy/quick levels are with powered-up characters. I've finished nearly all maps in 1 turns (unless you have to wait for events). One of the last ones is
the one you have to trigger the bomb on the bridge : one scout to bomb the north-west bridge, another one to activate the lift near the beginning, then alicia to go in one turn from the begin point to the bomb!
. I'm at
the mission on the beach with smoke grenades
, I'm convinced it's possible in one turn if I can
trigger double mouvement
...
It feels kinda strange...
I would have liked a hard (very hard) difficulty level, or the possibility to play again with normal characters (not powered-up) with the "accelerated story" of New game +.
Not with smoke... I killed her using smoke grenades and scouts... but from the upper side. I'm not surprised it works from the ground (although I though it would be better if she is *inside* the smoke.
Good ting is that dodging return fire is easier, too.

I was lucky when I played through that mission. One of my buddies, who is a big RTS gamer, was over and he'd already past that mission, so he spent the entire mission barking orders at me. It was great when the game started acting differently then against him. But it was things like all the enemy units taking a really stupid path.

What really ticked me off is that I was all geared up to destroy both radiators simultaneously, but when I dropped the rear one, the remaining side one disappeared.

I was going to do that exact same thing. I was actually moving the second character into play when he demanded that I stop. That mission would have taken me forever.
There were actually many moments where my inclinations would have gotten my characters slaughtered.
You didn't see that massive battleship-sized tank coming and run for cover?
that was an epic mission for sure, definitely tough, but certainly not impossible. I got through it on my first try, though I was down to only a shocktrooper, a single lancer and my tank at the end.
I just finished my third playthrough, with a cumulative final time of 37:48. I just got the Golden Arms of Gallia, so that completes my medal collection.
Man, I really powered through this game, but it had me hooked throughout. By the time the DLC is released, I'll definitely feel the need to revisit.

I am constantly get overwhelmbed by the snipers that spawn in the bottom of the map. I am able to take out the bottom dominus tank in the 1st turn it spawns. But I just get slowly taken out by the constantly respawning enemies without doing major damage to the other tank.
Let Alicia take two turns to annhilate the battlefield. During this time, send a scout to take down the shocktrooper she ignores.
If you didn't leave empty slots, sent with your scout, an engineer along the way. Have her between the flag in the middle, and the sandbags to the south. Also send a sniper that way too.
Send one or two shocktroopers to the southern sandbags. Send a lancer there too (armor piercing type).
Once Alicia finishes destroying all the heavy cannons, move the your two tanks close to the flag, but have them face south. They'll be your interception fire 2nd layer. Alternatively, if you don't mind wasting the CP, have them closer to the south as your first layer interception fire, and then move them north later.
Capture the flag at this point.
Alicia will faint and be removed from the battle field, and the two tanks will be set.
Don't bother wasting turns eliminating the reinforcements, as more will just come in.
Order "Caution" on your lancer, and send him south to the tank. The extra defense should enable him to cross through the platoon without much damage. You'll probably run out of AP by the time he gets behind the tank, but that's okay. If you have any sort of anti-armor or awaken potential that can boost the damage to the tank there, use it. It will take more than one shot to the radiator.
Your shocktroopers should be able to do okay as interception fire. Alternatively, your tanks will too.
Your scout at the base should take out the two snipers directly west of the base. Send your sniper up to the building on the east.
Once you've taken out the south tank with your lancer, order him to retreat. Your engineer should be jumping around healing your tanks, and collecting people for first aid.
At your base, bring out a lancer (can be the same one you ordered to retreat). Escort (if there are enemies along the path) him briefly to the edge of the hill up north, just at the ramp. If you want to avoid casualties, stop the escort and go back to base, while the lancer crouches in the grass and moves all they way to the tank up north west. This may take a few turns. :\
The rest of your team should hold position. Most of the south enemies will be taken care of with interception fire. Use your scout and your sniper to spot north end enemies and take them out. Your engineer will be running between the base, and the tanks providing more supplies and healing. Keep this up and stay out of the way of the mortar and you should be good until the end of the mission.
If you keep everyone huddled behind the wall, and keep Welkin's radiator backed up against it, you would be 100% safe from any harm. All the enemies have to run down that single narrow ramp, making them super easy targets.
Place 4 shocktroopers at the top, one sniper (with the best rifle you have, and by best I mean I hope you have some royal stuff, or at least the power upgrade one; don't use imperial, the range impairs the damage for what you want to do in this level) at the rear, behind the sandbags. Fill the other positions with alicia and largo (obviously), and if you feel so inclined, a mechanic or two. Maybe even a second sniper.
Have your sniper take out the power station at the far back. It should take one shot. Have two shocktroopers take out the power stations that are closest to them, and then have them run towards him. If you think they might die, use your second pair of shocktroopers and run at him to fire. At this point, you have several choices. Either take advantage of having allies near you to do assist-fire, or you can use your flamethrower (preferably, make sure whoever you gave the VB FW 2 be someone who's ready to attack) to cause massive damage. Personally, I aim the flamethrower at his head. I think it does more damage. I could be wrong, though.
After dealing at least half-damage, you'll get a cutscene, and he goes all the way to the back of the area. You should still have enough turn point-things to have at least one person run at him and get close enough to flamethrower his face off before the turn ends. If not, you can do it in two turns.
If it does end up going into two turns, the only way you can take out the armor-plated power stations is by hitting it with the lancers, or the tanks, so keep that in mind. You might want to have a lancer on hand with Ultimate anti-tank, or whatever, and just use the Concentrate Fire order if your lancer's a bit far away.

royal stuff. I always figured I'd use more Lancers so I can take out the power things.
Fuuuuck, I really don't wanna go back and level up or whatever, I just want to finish this game. I've been playing it here and there since mid-November. I really enjoy VC, but it's a pretty challenging game if you don't know exactly what you are doing from pretty early on.

you save the princess, whenever you have a storyline battle where you got a rank of A-C (or was it A-B...), you'll be rewarded royal weapons in the Audience Hall. You can't really take advantage of this fact until new game+, but if you were good enough, you should've nabbed some royal weapons.
If you don't have any, just use your best weapons you've been having developed. Sometimes, the normal weapons are better than the royal stuff, so it doesn't really matter until subsequent playthroughs, and when you do skirmishes.
]I did it in one turn, try it,it's easy this way if you have the right orders.
1st,give the orders awaken all and destroy those towers.2nd, look at the potential of some of your shocktroopers and look for Ultimate damage in their lists and cast and order of neutralize on him/her.3rd kill the boss with that shocktrooper
pretty much. I do hope you've got your machine guns and flamethrowers upgraded, too. Regardless of how you go about it, just try to take out the power stations as quickly as possible.
edit: :lol, I just tried the selvaria fight w/ snipers and a smoke grenade. I can't believe that :lol

Ahhh, even with my best rifle equipped, the ones closer to the base takes 2+ hits, but the one in the far distance takes only one. WTF.
I'll have to see about upgrading my flamethrowers, etc.
This battle sucks. Dammit, I've been playing this game literally ALL DAY (like, 12 hours) as my body is a wreck from work and the gym, plus getting over a cold (let's just call it a super recovery day) and I still didn't complete this game. I'm losing my mind jaksdfjlasdasdf ;_;
Really though, I don't know if I've ever started so early in the day on the game, set on completing it, only to find I STILL didn't finish. Who in their right mind would download the hard mode for this game?! It's challenging enough as is!
If my weapons aren't good enough, I'm gonna scream. I have the best sniper stuff possible (disregarding the elite stuff), pretty sure.
And yeah, the smokescreen trick is awesome!

- Audrey (Lancer): Earn 10 or more medals
- Emile (Sniper): Unlock Oscar's hidden potential, then let him fall in combat
- Knute (Engineer): Enter the Command Room with 1,000,000 DCT
- Lynn (Shock Trooper): Unlock Karl's hidden potential, then let him fall in combat
- Musaad (Scout): Beat the game
(The mission names could be considered spoilery... I suppose, so a warning to anyone who doesn't want to see the mission names, I guess, though I wouldn't consider them spoilery).
At first I also thought the ranking based on nothing but speed was a big issue, but really, in the overall scheme of things, it's not a big deal and makes some amount of sense: because the bonus in EXP/DCT from higher rankings is so high, it gives players a way to not have to grind Skirmish battles. On the other hand, if you really want to play it strategically, you can try to go for A rank while also killing all enemy Aces (for their weapons) and leaders, which actually is a bit of challenge in most cases.

I couldn't work out a way to do it. 4 CPs gone for the smoke rounds didn't leave me enough left to get to the camp. I suppose you could do it with one of the scouts that has the double movement potential, but of course you'd need it to fire.
12 CP
- 2 CP: smoke grenade the first gun encampment
- 3 CP: Defense Boost + Awaken Potential on Alicia
- 1 CP: guide Alicia through the trench and through the heavy fire; use a grenade to open up the barricade by the trooper elite
- 1 CP: guide Alicia around the southwest building and take out the standing scout elite (not the Ace); crouch behind the sandbags
- 1 CP: Resupply
- 1 CP: grenade the crouching shocktrooper elite
- 1 CP: eliminate if grenade did not, capture base
Total: 10 CP
You can eliminate using resupply by bypassing the barricade, but you run risk of being gunned down by the gun encampments. For this strategy to work, you need Resist Crossfire and Double Movement to activate, as well as Mysterious Body.

I believe Caution increases resistance to incoming fire, which is the same as Resist Crossfire. As Alicia has this innately, you can spend the CP elsewhere to buff other stats. Therefore, it's probably best to double up on Defense and Evade Boost, which together cost 2 CP, the same as Caution.
