Valve Fremont device has appeared on Geekbench (+ more details from SadlyItsBradley)

A Console that can't play FortNite, Madden NFL, EA FC, COD, Battlefield, Minecraft, and no Gamepass.

If it doesn't die by itself, the next gen Xbox Magnus will kill it completely.
A fucking Xbox "console" isn't going to kill anything besides finally killing the Xbox brand if anything (I'm cautiously interested despite that).

While Valve definitely needs to fix the anti cheat issue (kernel level anti cheat does work on Linux as far as I'm aware but the versions used by most games don't? Also I seem to remember a certain company run by a complete cunt having involvement with the company that actually makes the biggest anti cheat but I could be wrong) BUT I still think that a device like this will do well in accordance to Valve's expectations and metrics set by the Steam Deck.

I think the original idea behind Steam Machines was great but it just wasn't the right time as Linux just didn't have access to enough games. Now we have Proton and the Steam Deck has shown that Valve can make a great product that can succeed in the modern market.

IF this is a good price (alongside price to performance ratio) and they can fix the anti cheat issue (really all I need to know is that Battlefield works) then I'm very interested.

Same ballpark, maybe a little slower.
Seems like a weird chose then for a device that will be releasing in the final years of the 9th gen consoles.

Still interested but I can't see myself dropping my ITX build with a 4070 Super/5600x for this despite wanting to get away from Windows badly.

How does a 7600 compare to lets say a base PS5 or Series X? I'm not very well versed in AMD GPUs since my old trusty RX580.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if they mean the 7600 or the 7600m. Of it is the m (mobile) then not as powerful as the PS5 I don't think. Desktop 7600 is pretty close to the 2080 according to techpowerup. Hard to say how that compares to Xbox and PS5.

This one year old video makes it look decent. With a dedicated GPU, maybe they'll sell a 4060 configuration or stronger cards. Depending on PSU.

Not if they sell it for $299.

A device that will play all my steam games better than my Steam Eeck while at the same time syncing perfectly across two devices? Day 1.
I don't know if it will be that cheap but with this spec it's definitely targeting a mainstream price. I'm sure you can get a deal on 6nm 7600 dies at this point, likewise for 6 core r5 240 CPUs.

I might actually pull out the 5070 Ti, sell the rest of my living room PC and play on this thing instead, even if it's much slower. I hate W11 with a passion, and competitive multiplayer isn't that important for me (at least in the living room, lol).

Why don't you guys just install cachyos or something? They have nvidia drivers, they aren't as polished as mesa but really it's no reason not to switch to Linux if you really want to.

$299 seems like a stretch to me. I assume if they are using hardware like this that they will be going for a lower cost but $299 seems low. I'd imagine the floor is $399 but $499 being likely but who knows really.

I really hate Windows as well. I'm a iOS and Mac user for "general computing" so my gaming PC is literally 99% gaming and 1% browsing immediately before or after playing games.
I have my eye on both this and the next Xbox "console" as both could compete for replacing my gaming PC. I know the next Xbox hardware will most likely use the same version of Windows as the Xbox Ally but it's so "un-Windows" in usage that I would be okay with it.

The reason I've never tried to move over was anti-cheat. My PC is primarily a Battlefield machine and I still play Battlefield 1, 4, and 2042 which as far as I'm aware weren't compatible with Linux
