Hello Kindred,

We would like to share an update on the development and release window of Vampire: the Masquerade - Bloodlines 2.

As Marco explained in the video, Bloodlines 2 will not be ready for release in the first half of 2025.

Paradox Interactive and The Chinese Room are committed to delivering this game, and we believe that ensuring great technical quality is more important than sticking to a specific date.

The game is currently in a late development stage, and feedback from the community has been taken into account during this time. TCR is working hard on quality assurance to ensure it is stable and free of bugs that could disrupt the player experience.

Bloodlines 2 will launch in October 2025 when the game meets the technical quality standards that you, our fans, rightfully expect and deserve. Please stay tuned for the game's exact launch date.

We want to ensure that the content we share with you is high-quality and showcases exciting game features. With this updated release timeline, we will pause our development diaries so that the team can concentrate on refining the game. However, we will still be available online for questions and comments, and we welcome everyone to join the Bloodlines 2 Discord.

He just said..."the game is done"...and they want to polish/bugfix from now on? Noice!

I honestly gave up the hope that this game is coming out at all. Really curious how it will be like.

They should have let Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines be an not make a sequel. Any sequel will never be as good and will never deliver. I mean it's hard to make a sequel to one of the greatest games ever made.

RIP Troika, they only made three games, but they were three bangers. Their titles were insanely buggy, but also insanely ambitious, they aimed high and hit the mark more often than not.

If this game is half as good as Bloodlines we'll be lucky, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.

I just looked up Troika games, didn't know they made Arcanum. I played it back in the days but it really would need a remaster.

The gameplay reveal for this was pretty bad. I'm not really holding out much hope for this one. It'll also be dropping at a pretty bad time. There's a likelihood that Call of Duty, (maybe) GTA and perhaps even Battlefield drop around then.

By the time this game releases that gameplay reveal will be 2 years old now. Thats actually impressive to think they have had literally 2 more years of dev time over that initial point. I have a strangely good feeling about this game..

It's got patches galore nowadays, but it could definitely use a facelift and a combat overhaul.
The writing and world building is of a caliber that you just don't see in today's games.

it's been 84 years...

As someone who adores the first game despite it's age. I have a bad feeling about this one.
I agree. I love the Chinese Room and all but they're part of that walking simulator/art video game trend. Without Avellone writing questiand story branches + a developer who never actually made a proper game I wrote this off. Hoping they pull off a miracle, but my expectations are in check

So for some reason I just found out you can't make your own character. Yeah buddy, Chinese Room narrative adventure incoming which wouldn't be a problem usually but this is a 180 of the original

Supposed to come out in 2019 or 2020. Delayed again to late 2025. Probably delayed again to 2026.

The grift goes on.

Give them credit for milking salaries an extra 5 years past the original launch date.

I have a little bit info about this game. After Paradox bought the rights they used Brian Mitsoda's name and at that time popularity to announce this game and even open preorders from Steam. People flocked and bought preorders like crazy. But after that Paradox terminated Brian Mitsoda's contract and after that, everything went directly free fall. They cancelled the game, refund preorders and said that they will start again with different team.

So when you look at things from this perspective, the game is not being developed 5-6 years. Maybe 2-3 years with that start over + covid. I really hate Paradox and their greedy DLC policy in their games. So maybe their greed is biting them in their back with this seemingly "cursed" game. It only seems fair. But obviously I feel really sorry for the developers.

Was it really that long ago? Jeez, fair enough then. I'll wait and see what the previews are like later in the year before making further judgement.

True, but unfortunately they have some really great (and unique) games I wouldnt want to miss.

Shame to see this get delayed so much. I played the first game pretty late like around 10 years ago and it was one if not the best vampire themed game I've ever played. Deep lore on many vampire types but there's plenty of other cool non vampire beings too like the Gargoyle, Wereshark, Werewolf, Mutants, etc etc. Had a lot of fun with the Antitribu mod on Moddb for it too.

They should drop a 10 minute gameplay reveal and get people excited.
The game is supposedly finished but they are just showing small snippets.

I hope this game doesn't suck.
It would be quite the pleasant suprise if this turns out good after the development hell it's been through. I'm rooting for them, but keeping my expectations in check.

It would be shocking. It's based on V5 crap, looks like crap, and comes from a studio that doesn't have the pedigree for this kind of game.

Paradox - if they're not about to sell White Wolf entirely - needs to understand that they're not going to get what they want out of WoD by palming it off to no-names. Vampire probably needs a Larian-level studio to do it justice at this point. But good luck with convincing such a studio to do that.

Being a WoD player back in the day, V3 really was perfect as well the respected playbooks and lore. Hell, Requiem was pretty decent too.

I am going in with the feeling of this as a WoD tale than anything of the original game, so here's hoping to be surprised or not.

Oh, I've been sceptical of this game since I read early interviews with the first dev team saying stuff like:
Article:
"It is a political game but I think it's one of those few opportunities that gives us the chance to let people make their own political statement in a way that's not cheap. I don't believe you can look at both sides of a political argument without understanding both sides. It's easy to say this is good and this is bad. But it's definitely taking some political stances on what we think are right and wrong. In terms of the main conflict what is interesting is it's one of those truly balanced issues."

~

It's not just politics where Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 takes a progressive approach. The character creator, which players get to use twice - once at the start to define your human aspects and then a second time later in the game to flesh out your vampire - goes way beyond basic male and female models. Body type, gender pronouns, employment history and fashion can all be toyed with for a very modular build.

and
Article:
"It's fifteen years later and things have changed," Mitsoda said. "We have to be very sensitive about how we handle things like mental illness and that was a concern for us and for Paradox, in how we can make a mature story but if we do anything, we do our homework and make sure that we are punching up and not punching down."

There's a sliver of hope that the new devs has toned down some of these topics and made it somewhat palatable. In the end we all just want good games and not be lectured in bigotry.

We'll find out soon enough, but my cash stays firmly in my pocket until they've proved themselves.

There is 8 episodes tv series from the 90s set exactly in that world, protag actor died in nasty car/motorbike accident so we never got season 2 but back then it was fire:
