Anybody watch Hit Me Baby 1 More Time tonight? Haddaway performing Toxic made my week, but boy oh boy did Vanilla Ice turn out a killer version of "I'm a survivor."

Son of a B -- he pop-locked at the end!

I want that performance on MP4 stat!

9PM NBC Thursdays - nbc.com has clips and such, they update it weekly

Tonight was--The Knack, Tommy Tutone, Haddaway, The Motels, and Vanilla Ice.

Ice did a half-old school / half-grunge version of Ice Ice Baby also, but he sure as sh*t nailed it with the fruity Go Vanilla Go dance at the end. But his 2nd performance, jeez, almost makes me able to forgive his whines on VH1.

Also, the chick from the Motels has an awesome voice...

And Haddaway could kick our asses at Karaoke Revolution

I thought Ice always went into a mad rage whenever someone brought up the rap stuff. Guess the NBC money hat was too great to resist the temptation, eh?

I think after YEARS of people telling him what an icon he and that song are, coupled with seeing people go insane when he performs it, might finally be chipping away at his hatred of his "old self." I liked how he mixed the old and the new versions... and hey, he really did kick some ass with his second song... Robby Van Winkle is legit!

The Knack were awesome too, but man, I laughed when they said they were performing Jet's 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl', since Jet sounds a lot like the Knack.

I'm all for a 90s old school revival. People may think dudes like Hammer are a joke or a commerical they don't quite get now, but hell, people were to dancing to that shit in droves back in '91

Dude, yeah ... I remember for a couple weeks after Ice Ice Baby hit, it was all the rage with everyone at my high school, especially the "hiphop" crowd. (And my school was 70% minority). Then people latched on to the joke aspects and hopped on the hate-on-Ice bandwagon, which, while somewhat deserved, seemed more media driven than heartfelt ... considering these same kids were blasting that song from boom boxes and car stereos weeks before.

Hell, least he wasn't Snow...

I'd love it if they got MC Hammer... and Kris Kross. :)

Getting hung out a window by Suge Knight can do that to people

Well, good for him. If he can somehow become 'legit', it'll rank as one of the greatest comebacks of all time. God knows he's been ridiculed enough to tell Suge Knight "don't bother,I'll take it from here" the next time they find themselves together on the balcony of a tall building. :D
Anyway, any time I hear the name Vanilla Ice or Rob Van Winkle, I can't help but think of Jim Carrey's spoof of him on In Living Color. Classic shit! :lol

Here's a nice side by side comparison of Ice Ice Baby and the original Under Pressure by Queen.

Yes everyone knows he sampled, so do most other rap artist, don't see why he gets so much grief, he paid them their money so move on. He paid them right away, he kinda played it up for the media though and made a big deal out of it like he did with eveything...

I remember when Ice, Ice Baby came out. EVERYONE was down. It was just a cool ass song. Everyone was loving it. Then the crap started, the interviews, the TMNT song, the movie. Then people turned on him big time. I could see him doing a duet with someone to get back in the game. I will have to watch these vids of him performing, sounds great.

Rob Van Winkle did a song with Bloodhound Gang on One Fierce Beer Coaster.

It's really too bad that the Bloodhound Gang weren't popular enough at that time for anyone to notice.

TRUE STORY

The Ice man was in Seattle for a gig at a club I used to bounce at.. And he was in town 2 days early which was a friday and his show was slated for a Sunday. Anyways he came to the club to kick it since his tab was paid for.. he is a pretty cool guy... Well to make a long story short he started to hit on this gal, who happened to be a sista... well his mojo wasn't working and she told him "Get out of my face you Vanilla Ice wanna be!"

He got dissed with his own name.. I cried myself to sleep laughing.. :lol

If she only knew, I'm sure he still has plenty of cash, he did not waste it like MC Hammer, he is just an attention whore who wants to be on tv..

He came onto a reality TV show in the UK which exposed him to be quite the egotistical dick. Nearly got into a fight with Stan Collymore. Very amusing.

Are you sure he has a lot of money? I am sure he is not hurting or anything... but I think he got juiced pretty bad for his money by Mr. Knight

I remember seeing a Where are they now on VH1 after he paid Surge and Queen he still had a ton of money said he invested and saved most of it. You have to remember when he was popular he mad tons of mony, much like New Kids on the Block by selling bed sheets ,dolls and stuff like that to girls...

I am not saying he is broke... I just thought I read he wasn't doing too well... he doesn't have the best track record for telling the truth about himself...

Yeah, the Knack were awesome... They looked great and played tight. The Jet cover was perfect for them, and thought they pulled it off brilliantly. I think they should have won, even though I guessed Vanilla Ice was going to.

I really liked Tommy Tutone and his version of "All the small things." Had I a vote to cast, it would have been for him.

Argh... I thought they were re-running the last two episodes tonight at 9PM -- I was hoping to watch Vanilla do his thing again -- but all I've got here is "I want to be a Hilton."

WTF WTF?!

Last week's show was pretty lame though... Irene Cara my ass. Wang Chung shoulda won for that awesome rendition of Hot in Here.

The lineup for this Thursday's show is a bit too retro for me, but I'll watch just in case we get another Haddaway / Wang Chung karaoke session.
