Not looking too hot. I am wondering if this fails if it will change Sony's direction with their movies not involving the MCU.

I love the Venom Character but Sony has proven they have no idea what they are doing. In a way I hope this bombs so they try to work more with Marvel after this next Spider Man movie.

For sure looks mixed.

Review Embargo lifts tonight around 7PM Est from what I remember.

Tom hardy looks too old for the role, no?

Can't say I have ever thought he was bad for the part. I was more worried about trying to separate Venom from Spider Man and trying to make a whole universe out of this again. Sony loves to make universes that ultimately fail.

At one point Tom Hardy and Venom make out.

I don't trust a single movie reviewer these days. A movie is 2 hours and relatively cheap, if I think a trailer looks cool, I'll see it. If it was bad, oh well, not the end of the world, at least I can talk about it.

In my case taking a family to see a crap movie isn’t cheap. I would go by myself to see a bad movie for sure tho.

True enough, I've got no kids, definitely changes the value proposition. Especially since they probably want the overpriced snacks as well lol, I always just go without.

We hit up the theaters with the dine in services. A movie by the time food is added on top of it is 100 bucks easy.

disagree there. Going to a theater is expensive these days. Add in a date or family member and its pretty costly IMO.

For sure, I was speaking as a guy who generally goes by himself or with one other person. I mean relatively compared to games, it'll cost me like 15 bucks to see a movie, whereas a new game is almost $90 CDN.

Remember when games were 59.99CDN, those were the days. Crazy how expensive games have become over the last half decade or so.

Yeah for sure, although I do also remember $120 N64 cartridges back in the day too. I remember seeing MK3 for 64 for that much brand new, and that wasn't even "collector's edition" pricing we're all used to now, that was the base fucking game in a cardboard box lol.

That is pretty crazy lol

Once we took my niece and nephew to see something on top of the whole family. Was like $150 bucks. We go less and less to the theaters now. We were considering going to see Venom but may have to pass on it now.

I never really looked into it, but was something like that Movie Pass or whatever it was called a better deal for families?

Movie pass I think is on its way out already but AMC has something. I think it would be worth it if going to the movies was something I did all the time. When I was younger I lived at the movies. Now I fall asleep at 8 and am the guy fussing about teenagers being irritating. :)

This makes me very excited to see the movie. I know yall are taking it very negatively but I view this as a point of hope.

I really wish this was a Spider-Man movie. Why did Sony make the deal with Marvel if they still want to make movies with Spider-Man villians?

Yes, i learn it from Angry Joe that all him reviews movies are the worst part of the channel, their calification is subjetive, thanks to Angry joe i never trust in any movies review anymore or he have a huge bad Taste in movies.

Yeah!!

When a review give 6 to a movie could = Great movie

When the review give all stars= Boring or Dissapoint movie.

thats mean that the movie could be good xD.

I go to the Sunday morning matinee and it only costs me $6.
I also have their value card so after I spend so many dollars there I get a free ticket.

It sounds pretty bad but I'll only be out $6 and 2 hours, which I probably would have wasted anyway.

Doesn't surprise me too much, Sony and Spider-Man property doesn't give me hope. I'm willing to bet that most of the action scenes have been spoiled via officially released trailers and clips in true Sony fashion.

EDIT: Nonetheless I'll give it a chance... and wait to see how it scores on rottentomatoes.

This is what happens when you make a spiderman movie without spiderman. It doesn't really make any sense and a large part of venom comes from it's relationship with spidey.

I remember having to pay $99.99 plus tax for WCW/nWo Revenge, F-Zero X, and Shadowgate 64.

Going to see it with the family, and i really don’t even know what to expect, honestly. Maybe its because we all think that at this point all marvel movies connect and we don’t know what will happen if it’s succesful or if it sucks.

But will see it anyways, nephew loves the monster.

Well obviously I’m going to skip this one, but I will have to check youtube for venom making out with himself, that’s to weirdly delicious to pass on.

Already have my tickets for Friday night.

Ready for total suck fest but I'll be stoned to the bone and about a 6pack of guinness in before I show up so I'm sure I'll have a good time.

Wait, wait, wait. Eddy has sex with the symbiote? Is this how Carnage is introduced? That sounds incredibly bizarre, doesn't he have some kind of love interest (that is human) in the movie?

Symbiotes can reproduce without sex. There are plenty of animals on earth that can reproduce without sex, its called Parthenogenesis

I know that in the comics the symbiote impregnated itself (without Brock's knowledge) and birthed the carnage symbiote which then fused to Cletus Kassedy (serial killer). It didn't have sex with anyone or brock, it just gave birth.

I responded that I was surprised as this is the first I am hearing of a "makeout" session between the symbiote and Eddy. That just sounds strange to me and really makes no sense. Maybe I misread your words, what did you mean by "makeout"? When I hear the words makeout I immediately think of vigourous and passionate kissing that sometimes leads to intercourse. What did you mean?

Based on the trailers this doesn't surprise me. Sony are so stubborn, just sell the rights back to Marvel and maybe stick with animated Spider-Man films.

Even Tom Hardy doesn’t know what his normal voice is...

20 years ago, on TBB:

On Jonathan Ross in 2010:

He doesn’t know whether he should be speaking cockney, Jafaican, or with a plum in his gob. I find him a strange bloke and uncomfortable to watch. Not a fan I’m afraid.

I still plan on seeing it this Saturday. Still looks fun. I never trust film reviewers on anything. At the same time though, I'm not a big movie theater person, but for Venom and Into the Spiderverse, I'm willing to throw away some dough for these first entries, and see if they're to my liking.

If I think Venom is bad, well, that'll be a shame, since I want to see a good expanded live action Spider-Man universe (with a new Spider-Man/Peter Parker eventually joining at some point). I don't care about the MCU at all. I don't intend to watch any more of those, including Spider-Man: Far from Home (at the theater at any rate. I might see them for free at some point if someone brings a DVD/Blu-ray over or something. I ain't going outta my way though).

Anyway, I might talk more about Venom and Sony Pictures later after seeing the film. I don't think Venom is going to bomb. I think this film will succeed and Sony will have another go with a sequel, and I'm sure they'll be much to talk about where that'll go.
