Venom Social Media Impressions

These social impressions aren't telling me anything. Some like it, others don't. Some say it's good, others say it's bad. I'll go see it and make up my own mind.

Not looking too hot. I am wondering if this fails if it will change Sony's direction with their movies not involving the MCU.

I love the Venom Character but Sony has proven they have no idea what they are doing. In a way I hope this bombs so they try to work more with Marvel after this next Spider Man movie.

For sure looks mixed.

Review Embargo lifts tonight around 7PM Est from what I remember.

I hope it bombs too for the same reasons you stated.

Venom probably wont be a bomb only because it has a 100 million dollar budget.

Isn't that the main reason it could bomb? Throw in a $50 million advertising budget and now the movie will have to make over $450 million world-wide to break even.

If it is successful someone is going to step forward and explain why they did this and they really need to. I genuinely want to hear it because this was suppose to be a straight up horror film. Then the trailers showed an anti hero film. Now they are saying the finished product is a buddy comedy.

I'm hoping it's good, but I'll even take so bad it's good. We need a Venom/Carnage sequel either way.

Not surprised one bit. It had suck written all over it + Ruben Fleischer as the director. He hasn´t made one good movie.

Not like this though. I hope it burns and Sony stops shitting their bed for once, using the MCU as an outlet for quality control.

I will gladly give up Carnage if it means a strengthened Spidey lore in the MCU.

The film apparently is a little messy when they join but after that the film works fine, which was to be expected.

I know sony still (I don't know why) intend on building their own spiderverse without spiderman... But why can't they just play nice with marvel and let them help make these spiderverse movies and then they can tie them into the MCU.

I know they may think about adding their spiderverse characters to the MCU later by asking tom Holland to appear in one of their films... But let's be honest they need help building it right now.

I'd give it a 6/10

Quick pros
- had some fun moments.
- few bad ass symbiote scenes.
- venoms size and voice were great.

Quick cons
- story is nothing at all like venom besides look and interaction between Eddie and the suit.
- bland story and felt thrown together.
- some CG looked real cheap.
- absolutely nothing felt Spider verse.

The symbiote relationship with the host actually felt more like the Toxin symbiote. Wish Marvel would get the full

I don't know about that I will have to wait and see for myself.
imo all the Sony Spider-Man movies including 3 are better than Homecoming..
Even the Game is Better than Homecoming and has more in common with Sonys Spider Man than Marvel’s.
So far Marvel has got a lot to prove, people like to think that with Marvel involved it's gonna be the best Spider Man but Homecoming was probably the worst and has zero memorable moments, Worth a a watch but uneventful and not worth watching again.

Disliked? No
As I said it was worth watching and Tom is a good Spider Man but the film is uneventful mostly.
That was my opinion when first watch it and I rewatch all the films when the game was released with my brother and we both agree that All the previous films were better Spider Man films.
And a lot of people rate it more then its worth just because Marvel is involved.
But Sony has done Spidy better

ya I liked amazing spider man movies as well but for some reason people just want to complain about the sony ads in the movies. Which I didn't even notice till people brought them up.

Not crazy at all, Michael Keaton was the best thing about the movie.
The rest was Disney Template High School crap.
The casting was rubbish outside Holland and Keaton, and I'm not sure where they was going with Flash

I was so against them rebooting from the original trilogy but when I saw TASM my opinion change, it was a different Spidy but I liked Garfield and Stones chemistry.
And I liked Garfield as Spidy
TASM2 has a lot of flaws but there is scenes in that film that will stick with me like the lobby scene from the Matrix has.
Homecoming was like background noise in comparison.
It's worth watching but I can't see myself pulling out Homecoming just to watch it for my Spidy fix.
Sony's Films I have and still do.

ASM2 hit me really hard in the final act. It's the only super hero movie to do so. Garfield was amazing in the suit.

I'm with him/her. Homecoming is a very bland Spiderman film. He's by far the most complex marvel character in a world with amazingly diverse characters. Yet Spiderman in his first film under a new actor brought absolutely nothing new to the table the way ASM did from Rami Trilogy.

Vulture was the saving grace of that film.

spidey2-gwenstacey.jpg

when I saw it at the cinema and Stacy appeared on screen with that outfit you could hear people gasping, people knew what was going to happen but didn't want it to.
And when it did people was shocked, even though they knew what was coming.
That is good cinema.

I agree with this. Just the rest of the movie wasn’t good at all. Really neither was the first. But garfleid and stone were perfect together.

The problem is none of them are spider-MAN, it’s all high school kids for the most part.

What wasn't good? Because a lot of it is Garfield and stone.

Mostly the villains and how they were handled. I never had an issue with spider man and Gwen. It was more Sony just trying to springboard the sinister six movie at the time.

I can agree with that. Lizard was pretty average and electro was terribad. I enjoyed where they were going with Green Goblin.

Tbf a lot of Vulture is owed to Michael Keaton same with the rest of the film.
All of them including Mysterio in the new Far From Home was/are never gonna beat Green Goblin and Doc Ock.
And they was already done to perfection in the original trilogy.
Same with JJ will probably never hit our screen again because J. K. Simmons performance is untouchable.

The clincher for me in Spiderman Homecoming was Tony Stark telling Peter that if he isn't anything without the suit, then he shouldn't have it... which is totally hypocritical considering how useless Tony Stark is in battle without the Iron Man suit. Peter actually has powers, and was able to handle himself during the fight with Ant-Man, yet somehow regressed in Homecoming (probably for the sake of shoehorning Iron Man in, and making him look better). I will be glad when MCU kills off Iron Man, as Spiderman will otherwise remain in his shadow every scene (as made evident by Homecoming and the newest avengers movie). The ironic part of all of this is that Spiderman was always a fan favorite, and somehow in the MCU he is the one playing second fiddle to Iron Man (who only became super popular, and well known, because of the MCU).

It was from Ironman 3, stark learned he didn't need the suit, and he could actually fight without it. He was making a point to Spiderman that he doesn't need the ironspider suit. Spiderman also refused to listen to Stark and almost got people killed on the boat

I think this is a very shallow way of looking at that lesson. It isn’t about power or fighting but who he is. Peter believed that without the stark suit he is a nobody which is untrue. It is about being smart about what he was doing. Also believing in himself in who he is. And in a way it can be tied to the old with great power comes great responsibility line. Peter almost killed a ferry full of people because he wasn’t being smart. He was being an immature kid. Granted Tony pulled a Holdo and could have said he was going to have someone look into it.

Average directer directs below average film. Coupled with superhero fatigue this was always gonna be a bomb.

Just got out. Sold out 10am show with a mostly female audience. The movie is on the lower rung of origin stories but it does some things well and was pretty entertaining. The Eddie/Brock stuff works and I'd be down for a sequel.

I'm going to the movies next Tuesday and the only options are either this or Night School, and I'm not particularly excited for either.... What do you guys think?

Are we expecting that there will be a R-Rated cut released for this at home because if so I'm happy to wait and hopefully watch that version.

My lady friend hated it, and she's a big fan of the MCU and is into comics. I gave up following Marvel around the 2099 Marvel era, but am a fan of Venom. I was excited for this film. It was the "Dude, Where's My Car?" of a superhero movie. The opening had a nice dark tone, hints of "The Thing" but goes off in another direction. I wasn't keen on some of the CGI stuff, Michelle Williams and found the promoting of Ore Ida and PBR funny (especially beer in a PG-13 flick) and there sure was a lot of uses of the word "shit" and only one f bomb. It was dumb fun, but hope the sequel goes darker, but doubt it. I didn't get the whole 2nd post-credit scene other than promotion.

The movie is weird about tone to be sure. Williams and Hardy have 0 chemistry which certainly dampens parts of the film.

I just hope they keep gohansson as his score was killer yet again.

That was also an odd choice... some hip hop/rap stuff, a rock song for a soundtrack then a musical score except for the Emineim and Run the Jewels songs at the credits.
