Scorpio sounds interesting, but MS needs first party software to make it relevant, Nintendo and Sony are doing great on first party, MS needs to step up on that area, hopefully the price is $399.99, competition is good for everyone

So many say MS need to bring game, are you guys for real?
MS can shutdown their studio and still win as long as they build best hardware combine with best service to play multiplatfrom game.
All dominating ecosystem are similar, iOS, Andriod and Steam, they all have BC, digital refund, multi devices compatible and none of those platform holder make game.

Pretty sure you said the same thing in a different thread lol

i have a feeling the first thing Phil is going to do at MS's press briefing is show off the hardware and then announce the price. Bring on E3.

He has to announce something early so that the trailers can all say "running on Scorpio." That extra psychological push helps the reaction to stuff.

I'm so hype!

Agreed, obviously better hardware doesn't mean much unless you have the games to utilize that hardware. For me I'm honestly glad that MS doesn't have much I want to play, I don't want to buy another console lol.

peeps are sayin MS needs better 1st party, but they were better until this year. Sony finally cam through and all of MS efforts are now void?

the one true king is always price. Your post is insanity.

I know Valve are slow, but they do make games. The other two don't rely on games to solely sell their platform either, so not really a great example.

Also, if MS just relied on 3rd party to sell their hardware, because it's the best console to play them on now, wouldn't it just stop selling every other year when the more powerful PS comes out too? Would they have to release a new even more powerful box every 2 years just to stay ahead? Because that'd be a great way to turn consumers off long term, unless they go full mobile phone business model and sell them through a contract, which I don't see working out either, as phones are essential and have a far bigger WW market, games consoles do not.

Because they weren't probably, both have been about as good as each other (only Horizon is the first truly great 1st party game from either so far this gen imo), Sony just has far better 3rd party exclusives on top.

I think if their new IPs had been massive successes the narrative would be different.

Unfortunately they didn't set the world on fire despite being quite good.

This year? Uncharted 4 came out last year and I think it did quite okay in the GOTY voting...

Great. Now show me exclusives worth getting it over.

With me having a PS4 Pro, Switch, 3DS, and a gaming PC, they are hopefully good

And hope you don't cancel them in the end

The best place to play is where the most people play/where your friends play for most people. And ps4 is way ahead right now.

All the exlusives will be on PC (or windows store)
Well then
My PC setup won't be ready for 4K in many years so I'm simply getting Scorpio for 4K. To me it's a plus if the exclusives comes to PC too because then I won't have to double dip to get them on PC later when my PC is ready to tackle 4K.

Okay. Gaf polls. I still think MS had a better lineup.
I would agree if you said pre-2016, 2016 was the turnaround year for PS4 imo, 2016 til now has been amazing, but before 2016 it pretty much just collected dust at least at my place.

That explains how the PS2 did terrible compared to the Xbox.

You do know that UC4 won the most GOTY awards in 2016 right ?

None of them are games consoles either .
Are you trying to compare a console to phones (iOS and Andriod)
Plus we all know it don't work that way in certain parts of the world when it comes to consoles .

Teaser 1: guy turns on xbox, gets a rush of power and visual "power" cues on his body
Teaser 2: girl turns on xbox, gets overstimulated
Teaser 3: guy turns on xbox, bunch of "power" and almost "orgasmic" imagery happens

uh.

uh...

Is it wrong that i feel creeped by these?

Particularly as the girl's pupils expand alarmingly, suggesting that the ambient light levels are very low. I think MS meant to do something like this:

And hopefully as suggested by Pachter, Sony responds with a 249 PS4Pro.

Hows that working out for them so far? Its ALL about the games.

Well, that was the whole point of those comments, now wasn't it?

That would certainly be an effective marketing strategy for the hardcore audience that follows the statements that Microsoft executives make. Rather than such comments existing to prepare people for sticker shock, it'd lead to people thinking of $399 as "only $399" and some miraculous price to celebrate with more positivity. It'd take a good price that would have made a lot of people happy and turn it into an "OMG, I didn't expect this!" price. I'll give Microsoft's marketing team a lot of props if that's what they did.
