Via Tom Henderson: We'll see "Launching on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC" a heck of a lot in 12-18 months

I don't really like the Switch, but I'll be looking forward to see what comes out of all this stuff.

If publishers still implement that Nintendo tax it won't mean much for me. I'm not going to play so much more just to be able to play it handheld. Nintendo games, sure, and maybe some others, but not many.

Yeah, I totally expect this. As long as the game has a performance mode on Series/PS then adapting it for Switch 2 at 30 fps shouldn't be much of an issue.

Not surprised everyone here will talk about the GFX, but in reality I'm more interested to see what Nintendo is planning software wise and if there'll be some sort of extra stuff for it like the almost never used IR camera.

Here we go again with the extreme hopium. Always the same song.

Mortal Kombat 1 also came out on the Switch. Just saying.

This is going to be the biggest console launch ever. MK9 and new 3D mario as launch titles.

It doesn't have to be. It'll have a much faster CPU and faster I/O. Powerful enough to basically guarantee nearly every third party game comes to the console.

That's all they need, really.
Nearly every 3rd party game? You guys are getting your hopes up too much or this generation is seriously lacking lol

"nearly every third party game" would be surprising. Maybe 50%, but I seriously doubt top tier AAA games will be able to run well on it

I just find it funny how Switch 2 holding graphics back seems to bother nobody as they cheer this news, but anyone mention Series S and everyone swarms up. And I'm one of those who thinks Series S is a disease, but surely peeps have to keep the same energy for Switch 2 that will likely be even less powerful. The irony and hypocrisy is not lost on GAF.

I think it might. it's not some crazy prediction you will get some butchered ports like witcher 3 but Nintendo fans will happily eat it up.

The S has a detrimental effect on both the X and PS5.

Devs will just ignore Nintendo if they so choose, as they always have done.

No irony or hypocrisy, just a nuanced situation.

I don't think switch will be holding big AAA Games cause the majority of money comes from ps5xbox and pc. Switch will get ports that will be descent and some butchered

Obviously the buck will stop at the cpu side of things. You can always make a game uglier, but if you don't have the CPU all of a sudden you have to make a different game almost.

There's no nuance, lol. Switch 2 will highly likely sell way more than Xbox consoles, which will make all the publishers force their studios to make ports for it. There's no way publishers will be releasing a game on Series S and not releasing one for Switch 2. This is common sense.

So you're expecting Switch 2 to have a cpu on par with the Series X.

Some of you guys must think these consoles are a gpu in a box.

Except your logic completely falls apart when you consider that every publisher didn't force their devs to make games for the Switch when it was steamrolling the Xbox One and PS4.

To be quite fair, the Switch 2 will be MUCH closer to the Xbox Series S than the Switch 1 was to the Xbox One.

People get nearly every AAA game to run on a Steamdeck without the devs even trying hard. And the Switch 2 is most likely more performant than that. Devs will get games running on the Switch 2 if it's anything near the success of the Switch.
