so is ACIII liberation any good? it seems to have gotten bad reviews from pretty much everywhere.

It's rough and unpolished, but given that I played it right after ACIII, Liberation would make any other game look good. Still, it brings more fresh ideas into the series than it's console sibling does, so I could get behind that. It felt more like a game than a string of setpieces trying to show me something cool. I actually felt like I was playing as an Assassin doing Assassin-like things.

How long does the discounts last? is it the same with the free games or its only for a week?
Sales like this usually only last a week. Once in awhile Atlus will have a sale for a couple of weeks, but they are the exception, not the rule. I imagine the sale ends next tuesday.

Edit: Confirmed. Current PS PLus sale ends next tuesday 12/4. source

Which is a shame, because that's what I was looking forward to the most. Ended up going with the AC:L bundle instead of the CoD bundle since I was told it's the better game.

Having not played AC3:Liberation, I can tell you from playing Black Ops: It is. Fly you fool and never look in the direction of Call of Duty.

Which isn't that bad and is quite solid in the Call of Duty flavor but lack of maps, CQC being a drunk-fight and bad design decisions all around due to being rushed in six months... definitely make it felt.

Because it will motivate people to buy digitally and make buy more memory cards. Good and competitive digital pricing equal more memory cards.

That alone won't and again it's completely unreasonable for a 35%+ discount just because. It's still cheaper through DD but it's 10% difference like every single game on the service pretty much.

Why isn't it letting me use online storage in the Content Manager? I'm a PS Plus member--I even redeemed my code on the Vita itself. The system tells me I need to be a member. Strange.

Definitely enjoying my new Vita, if only I could get someone to buy my Sony Smash Bros code!

I guess I should have asked here but is there any way to start the Vita or return from suspend without swiping the touch screen? I found an option for button control to move among the bubbles but would like a non fingerprint inducing method of starting things up.

Btw about the VGA .. I voted for LBP because I thought it deserved it more than GR (content and extra features as well as being a great game like GR) but this isn't good - vita users aren't many and now they'll be split over all the nomination choices ;) I'm sure most will vote for GR so probably best to not make the same mistake I did.

Also you can vote for soundshapes in best "downloadable game"

I also love uploading screenshots wirelessly.

@randomkid- I don't think there is currently a way to do that - to prevent it from draining battery accidentally I think.. - I feel your pain for PSASBR don't worry -it's not going anywhere - also you may want to ask in the "Insane price" vita thread for people wanting to sell their code that they got with the deal (not sure about online passes - I THINK it's okay for the vita version (tied to code) but you might want to make sure. - I play PSASBR 9.9/10 on vita - not that it isn't nice having both for friends without vitas to play with too.

@xKilltheMx : ps+ subscription? That's what gives you access to the cloud feature (for wireless save updates) - there should be a button for it (very obvious - 1 of the 3 big ones) in content manager
------sorry I misread! - it's not possible to upload just saves - they want to milk you for a PS+ atm it seems (the bastards - it's a save file!!).
Although you actually can - initiate wireless transfer of the WHOLE GAME. Go to the folder that it is being backed up to. The save file gets transferred first. Find it, copy and paste it somewhere else - cancel the backup. Move it back to the folder.

It's a bit of a hassle but it's better than waiting for whole backup to transfer wirelessly. Hopefully they fix that shit.

posting from the vita broswer! I love this thing and I haven't even played any games yet!

With ps+ on both vita and ps3 I'm now drowing in games :-(

See that's the thing, I like CoD. If it's just Call of Duty but dumbed down a bit I'd have no problem with it. I'll wait for it to drop in price though.

Also, is the the place to drop Vita screenshots of games?

Is there a full list of games that run at native res for the Vita somewhere? Just got mine today and tested out Gravity Rush which looks disappointingly rough and found my myself floored by the Zero Escape: ZLR demo simply because it looks so darn crisp. Man oh man, anything running at native res on this thing's screen looks remarkable.

Is the story any good? This typically hasn't been a hallmark of the series. Cool set-up but really flat characters (like Ezio). Does this one break the mold?

Check out wipeout (and ninja gaiden) :)

I think it was a list from a developer forum...so perhaps some upcoming games in that list? Not sure, haven't heard of all of them.

Kind of. I mean, for starters there's a female protagonist which is a nice change. And I don't know about the other AC games (I've only played 1 aside from this), but you can change into different "personas". The Lady, The Slave and The Assassin. I'm enjoying it.

That 4xAA really helps out Need for Speed.

Nothing spectacular, just like the other games, but it does actually touch upon usually taboo subjects like slavery and racism. Again, this is partially a result of playing Liberation right after ACIII, but I had a good time with the former on every aspect compared to the latter. Take that as you will.

Does the city feel like New Orleans? Like does it have a unique vibe

Yeah it does help. A lot of games on vita (the lower res ones) look muuuuuuch better in motion and on vita. When you take a screenshot it captures a snapshot of the huge city from one angle and it ends up not looking impressive. You can sort of understand why they didn't want to show it off like that.

It is significantly better in your hands for those worried. One of the best handheld racers ever, perhaps even beating out wipeout (due to more fun, less stress) in the open world driving. It's really quite something to have access to the city in your hands - great for pick up and play.

Agreed. I think AC:L and Gravity Rush look fantastic in motion, but kind of bad in screenshots.

Allstars is an absolute blast to play and looks phenomenal. Ill never know how they crammed all that into the game with 4 players at once and 60fps and still look so damn good. Played a few unranked matches so far and have experienced zero lag. Great job Superbot.

Actually, good job Bluepoint Games. They did the Vita port.

do you guys find it more convenient to back up/connect to your PC or PS3?

I only backup to my PC. and even that I now do rarely. With PS+ the only thing I need to backup are my saves as I'm fortunate enough that my internet speed is fast enough to not need tow worry about backing entire games up.

It is really nice being able to do it wirelessly to the PC now though.

Phew, that was a hassle, but I cleaned up shop a bit. Got rid of... like 4 or 5 people lol

If I got rid of you, nothing personal. ):

I did a bit of a prune out the other day. I now have just 1 person on my list that I actually know.

The rest are all Vitabros.

SirTodge if anyone wants me.

DYING @ Grim, Wuthering Heights, Leona, VanWinkle and the others commenting on my First P4G activity.

PS: DON'T ADVERTISE P3P on my FEED and DON'T BUY IT PERIOD. K THANKX

EDIT: where do I find the direct link to an image on Flickr?

Have you guys experienced a bit about movie / Tv shows encoding and transfering for the Vita ?
Or could anyone point me to a solution ?

I always use Handbrake for doing such things. It's fairly fast and easy enough to use.

give me a few minutes and I'll dig out the original posts someone made from launch month if I can find them.

EDIT: Here you go :)

Originally the details were posted up by TouchMyBox in the Vita Launch thread.

Then I had a play with different quality settings

I've done some of my own tests just on the files (No vita yet) and found that using Constant Quality RF20 rather than specifying a target size worked well.

One episode of South Park went from 650MB to under 100MB at Vita's native resolution. A episode of Thrones went from 2.5GB to 600MB using the same process.

You can try using RF10 if you like but it gave me 300MB for South Park and 3GB for Thrones. I could barely see any difference when blown up on a 24" 1080 screen so on a 5" at native RF 20 will look great and have respectable file sizes.

As was already covered, MP4, H264, 960x544.

Most of the settings shown in those images are defaults, and you don't HAVE to change the resolution if you don't want to. Myself and TouchMyBox only did so as it made the files smaller. Since the Vita can now handle a 1080 video it just needs to be converted to MP4 but I imagine the file size will be large and hence take longer to transfer over and use up more expensive memory card space.

If you have a play and have any questions just ask :)

I have to say, South Park and Thrones both looked amazing even at just 100MB and 600MB respectively.

You mean on the Flickr app on the Vita or on the website?

Perfect, thanks for the impressions.
Was already looking at handbrake, but was wondering if anyone had tested the size/quality ratio. Thanks a lot !

Edit : What's the average convert time with your PC specs ? If you don't mind ?

Both if its not a hassle :o

On the website, click the Share button above the photo, in the bottom of the window that opsn click Grab the HTML/BBcode, then select the BB Code option button and copy the link in the box. Not that all images will come with a hyperlink on them which means if you click on it it goes to that image. I remove the hyperlink around the image but leave the ones that sit beneath it, that way I can quote the image to make it smaller and if people want to see the large one it doesn't take them away from the page.

As for the link in the Vita app, I've not found it yet. I use it to upload files but then use the website to grab the links to share.

Perfect, thanks for the impressions.

Edit : What's the average convert time with your PC specs ? If you don't mind ?

Honestly I can't recall, but it is obviously dependant on your specs, original file size, target file size etc. I seem to remember a couple of minutes being normal for most of them, but I have a 2500k, 4gb of ram and an SSD paired with striped drives. I think the Thrones episode took longer but then it was a larger longer file than things like TBBT or South Park.

I'm at work at the moment so I can't test it until I get home in 10 hours or so.

EDIt: first post on a new page, so.

BUY THINGS. LOTS OF THINGS!

Random screenshot

I'm doing a test encode right now to see if everything's OK.
30 minutes for a 18 minutes file.
Will report on the quality as soon as transfered ;)
