With some damn fine coffee!
Well played, well played indeed.

50% off War of the Lions is so mine. PSOne games will have to deal with being left on the digital shelf though, with black bars and all. I hope they'll get discounted on the US store too.

EDIT: I'll use my own post for the top of the page suggestion: GET FF TACTICS WHEN IT GETS DISCOUNTED /CAPSLOCK.

Hey everyone!
Long time lurker here but my account was just validated!
PSN is MidnightTerror22, add me!

Hey Zumblakladla,

Welcome to the vita brotherhood! Welcome to everyone else too, so many fresh new faces!

<snip>

There we go, you've been added too :D

Love the community we have going... still don't understand why it's a bad thing. :3
Welcome new Vitabros.

I do agree with the intended sentiments. The mods are mainly trying to streamline the forum discussion, steering into actual content conversation.

I will say, Vita is no sales champion - far from - but it's not about discussing negativity. The Vita thread has been the sole reprieve from the caustic hive mind toxicity. It sucks, as a gamer who enjoys a legitimately fantastic platform, that is underperforming in the market. The precedent that is being set is majority rules (everyone can shit on Vita), but chin up and too bad?
I'm not trying to argue, but legitimately ask if negativity , drive by memes, hate threads on all sides (for all platforms) will be more heavily moderated?

Gaf needs to strive to be inclusive to all gamers, even those in the minority (like real life minorities not being steamrolled by popular thought)

Kudos for the efforts.

Bravo. Brilliant post.

Lots of new faces I see. Welcome! And my PSN is oldyella; feel free to add me!

Still no word on what's on sale besides Final Fantasy games? I got $50 in my PSN wallet and I'm dying to spend it :)

Fuck all of you and your puns.

"Diane, at 3.53pm today I read a post from a seemingly angry fellow. I have noticed that this person used to be different. I will have to remember to recommend the lunch menu from Toby´s dinner 50 miles down route 51, be sure to eat there next time you are around these parts Diane."

I can finally pay off Technika Tune and Project Diva this month. Pretty sure my heart is skipping several beats in excitement. Actually to make this more relevant, does anyone have any experience with either? I don't want to buy both at the same time so I'm wondering which I should get first.

I own both and they are really great in their own ways. Here's something I just posted recently in the Hatsune Miku thread:

I'd highly reccomend Project Diva f. Not only is it a very well made rhythm game but its presentation is really nice too. If you've never played a Miku rhythm game then it's even better because you are starting from scratch when it comes to the gameplay style and it will take a pretty long time before you can master it, even if you have a decent amount of previous rhythm game experience. One negative thing I can think of is that there are only 32 songs, but it isn't that bad because the songs are pretty long.

I need to start playing it again, but I've been distracted with DJMAX Technika Tune. If you haven't picked that up yet, I'd reccomend that as well. The gameplay is fun, there are 67 songs, all with three or four difficulty levels each and the presentation is really nice. I enjoy it more than Project Diva, but that's mainly because it's more challenging.

Something to also note is that Hatsune Miku has way more extra stuff to do. Stuff like buying costumes for characters and interacting with them in their respective rooms where you can buy furniture and stuff like that. I didn't really like that stuff at all, but some might like it. From a pure gameplay perspective I think DJMAX offers more. Both of them are by far my most played Vita games though.

I'm REALLY excited for Let's Fish! Hooked On, which comes out on the 5th.

Also, I can't recommend Hatsune Miku enough. I can, however, suggest against Technika Tune unless you can try it first. I'm STILL trying to figure out a good way to hold my Vita and play it comfortably on the harder difficulties. I can mange the low level songs, but the hard stuff almost requires that I place it on a table, which COMPLETELY nullifies the point of my handheld.

How are you holding it and what gameplay mode are you using? Backtouch or Front screen only?

Okay, thanks for that. I really, really want both and I'm sure I would enjoy the Miku furniture stuff a lot and the costumes and all that. But it's £20 more and if DJ MAX has more songs, I think I'm gonna go with that first. I loved the demo to pieces.

I TROUT THAT YOU CAN SEA TO OBTAINING A MASTER'S SEAL OF APPROVAL

I DOLPHINITELY THINK YOU SHOULD SEA TO THAT, I AIN'T EVEN SQUIDDING

YOU'RE ALL KRILLING ME WITH THESE REELY AWFUL PUNS

You need to go back to pun school.

Again, I loved the demo and didn't have any problems. Plus I have very dextrous hands and just generally don't suffer from any kind of control issues with holding the Vita. I've heard I can touch the rear touchpad off, though, so if push comes to shove, I can do that. But thank you for your opinion on the game.

I've tried front and back to see if one was easier than the other. And I've been holding the Vita with my left hand - thumb gripping/resting along the top, pinky finger on the bottom, ring finger slightly below touchpad for anchorage, pointer finger slightly above touchpad. Both pointer and ring have access to touchpad if need be, but I primarily touch with my middle.

Okay, thanks for that. I really, really want both and I'm sure I would enjoy the Miku furniture stuff a lot and the costumes and all that. But it's £20 more and if DJ MAX has more songs, I think I'm gonna go with that first. I loved the demo to pieces.

If you've tried it and enjoy it, definitely worth the money. I enjoyed all of the Max Portable games (2 is still king), so Tune holds a special place in my heart for that reason alone. I think Project Diva will always be the rhythm champ on the Vita, though. It's a shame we won't see it in the US (and thus need to pay that crazy import fee).

E: Can you imagine Pop'n on Vita? The PSP Pop'n game was SO hard to play...Hahaha

You missed my edit!

If it's the PDf vs DJ Max thing, I'm way biased. I love the Project Diva series and have never been a huge fan of DJ Max, and this has always been/probably will be the same. I can talk about a few of the things I really love about PDf if you'd like.

E: Can you imagine Pop'n on Vita? The PSP Pop'n game was SO hard to play...Hahaha

I would love a Pop'n on Vita. The PSP one was hard as hell to play, but I think a lot of that came from me playing DJMAX so much. When it's the same exact style of gameplay, but all of a sudden the buttons are all different it was so difficult to adapt to it. That's when I eventually said screw it and just kept playing DJMAX. If a pop'n came out on Vita there wouldn't be any other competition for it, so I'd be able to adapt way easier. It would be even better if someday a classic DJMAX game was released, but I doubt that will ever happen.

I am knee deep in photoshopping images together for the monthly releases part of the new thread.

too much image re-sizing, halp

And I have completely neglected doing what I said I would and design the banners today. YAY.

I'll do it tomorrow, I've got two different ideas.

Well, I'm getting both eventually, so I should get the best of both worlds, really. It's an even bigger shame for us in the EU, we don't get DJ MAX either!

Is that 13 for '13 PSN sale the PS+ thing they were hyping for today? If so, that's pretty disappointing; no Vita stuff.

Looks like it... I'm not disappointed though since I expected the sale to be shit. I should preface that I go into almost every sale with low expectations so not to be disappointed.

Why no vita games on sale sony????

For DJMAX I've been using the Hori Armor Case.

You can fold the top back to make a little stand. I just set that on my lap and I can comfortably play using the back touch. I guess the only downside is that your neck can get sore looking down if you play for to long. I guess they don't make that accessory anymore though, but I think this close to the same thing. http://www.amazon.com/Armor-GameCase-PlayStation-Vita-Sony-PS/sim/B0072LDV7O/2

Very nice

Pirate Warriors 2 was announced for North America, too bad it's PS3 exclusive still. Only Japan will get the Vita version. :/

Okay I've been MIA for a while. What's the whole deal with the new thread?
Hi Shahed! I've been really wanting to start Chrono Cross but I haven't had the time. Hopefully soon...

But basically, to avoid huge megathreads, these threads will now be monthly, with the OP focusing on the main games coming out that month(and maybe some the next). It'll just reduce the amount of post per thread, making it easier for people to click and read through the contents, I'd assume.

Hi all, first post on the forum.

Glad to be joining the Vitabros - seems like we have to band together around our niche ULTIMATE HANDHELD.

Has anyone given the Soul Sacrifice demo a try yet? I've been meaning to but I'm playing Persona 4 on my UK memory card and I haven't been bothered to switch to my JP one for a little while. Thinking about getting the JPN double pack in March but I'm unsure whether I'll end up knee deep in a sea of moon runes...

Hey Grim! Been a while

Don't worry about it not starting Chrono Cross. I still need to get around to Breath of Fire and Legend of Legaia that Toma got me! I thought I'd start one soon, but New Little King Story is taking longer than I thought.

Did you ever play Chrono Trigger? I played Cross first and loved it. I went back and played Trigger which was also awesome, and it led to me liking Cross even more. Even if you might not like the game (which I'd be surprised at) the music alone is worth it.

And the new idea for monthly threads makes a lot more sense. I can see a lot of people finding the huge threads daunting.

I know I said it earlier, but so many new GAF and Vita user's. Hello all!

i personally havent tried the SS demo...but in this thread back when the demo was released there are a lot of impressions. you might as well search the forum though because there is a dedicated Impression thread for that demo...

general concensus: it's awesome. really awesome.

aside from that - welcome new vitabro! it is an amazing device and doesnt get the justice or support it deserves! much vitalove. stick around this thread tho, lots of good info gets discussed.

All these mentions of Chrono Trigger make me sad. It's not on the EU store, as I've checked to remind myself so many times.

Welcome. The SS demo is fantastic, and it's really long, too! Some
crazy
people have put in more than a dozen hours into that thing.

I would switch to your JP account when you're not really playing much, there are quite a few good demos on there, DJ MAX and Project Diva if you're interested in rhythm games and you might want to check out the Tales demo that's on there, if you're into JRPGs. I keep forgetting what it's called, it's either Innocence or Hearts R.

You're willing to betray us and import Persona 4 Golden when it will come out here in the UK, but you're not willing to create a US account to play games that you can't play here? I don't get it :(

Besides if anyone plays Chrono Trigger, the DS version is the way to go. PSN only if you don't have a DS/3DS.

Yeah, and even then I wouldn't recommend it.
Those load times are unbearable.

Hi guys ANOTHER new member here (but a long time lurker)!

It's nice to hear about the upcoming FF sale as I never had the chance to play them all, so I'll definitely be getting IV Complete but I'm curious about I, II and III... What's the general consensus on them?

Bad news, guys. Tomorrow's "mega" sale doesn't really have anything for Vita:

Check out all the PS3 games on sale below:
LittleBigPlanet Karting – Regular $39.99, Sale $19.99, PS Plus $10.00
The Unfinished Swan – Regular $14.99, Sale $7.49, PS Plus $3.75
Ratchet & Clank – Regular $14.99, Sale $7.49, PS Plus $3.75
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy – Regular $7.99, Sale $3.99, PS Plus $2.00
Hot Shots Golf: Out of Bounds Complete Collection – Regular $24.99, Sale $12.49, PS Plus $6.25
Warp – Regular $9.99, Sale $4.99, PS Plus $2.50
Shank 2 – Regular $9.99, Sale $4.99, PS Plus $2.50
NiGHTS into dreams… – Regular $9.99, Sale $4.99, PS Plus $2.50
Jet Set Radio – Regular $9.99, Sale $4.99, PS Plus $2.50
The House of the Dead: Overkill Extended Cut – Regular $19.99, Sale $9.99, PS Plus $5.00
Psychonauts – Regular $9.99, Sale $4.99, PS Plus $2.50
Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 13 – Regular $39.99, Sale $19.99, PS Plus $10.00
Machinarium – Regular $9.99, Sale $4.99, PS Plus $2.50

I might grab HotD:Overkill to complete my "I'll have a move someday when it's clearanced" collection, but it looks like disappointment abounds for Vita owners.
The price cut on LBP:Karting is ridiculous for plus members, but that just makes me think the game bombed, so they're slashing the price to get more sales.

euvitabros is best vitabros ... just saiyan.

mhmm

I do have a US account, but you're not convincing me to make the effort if you say the DS version is better! :P

I need to borrow a DS at some point anyway to play 999.

Anyone going off the deep end and importing PSO2 from Japan? I'm tempted but the whole won't understand a thing kinda makes me hesitate...
Unlikely. It seems a game like that would be made easier to get into having it in your native language and speaking personally I think if I really wanted to go through that process of acclimatization, I would've already either taken part in the PC version, or signed myself up for the Vita JP beta recently. I'm really excited to get to play that, though. Let's hope it's good.
