Just finished Assassin's Creed Liberation. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

The light-sensing puzzles don't work. I held a flash light to my Vita in a dark room, and it didn't work (a lamp, three halogen bathroom lights and a multiple bulb chandelier didn't work either). Directed it to my bedsheets in a dimly light environment - worked.
It has LOD transition problems up the ying-yang, where ladies turn into pirates and men into beggars when you get close (or disappear altogether).
The audio is terrible.
It doesn't have any fast-travel or other niceties that a mobile game would benefit from.
It doesn't run well, and they could have made some very simply cutbacks in visual fidelity (such as removing dynamic and self shadows - just look at the second shot, that's crazy unnecessary) to alleviate the problem.
Combat is janky (maybe this is just the new 'style' for the series, I haven't played 3).
Most of the touch controls are gimmicky (such as swiping front and back touch panels to open an envelope). Touching to select a distant target for range is fine though.
The in-game economy through boats and trading is tedious. Unlike Brotherhood's multiple pigeon roosts for Guild operations, you can only manage your ships in the HQ. Which, without fast travel, is often difficult to find time for. You'll be thirsting for money and likely won't have enough for most of the upgrades even after the game is complete.
Multiplayer is hilariously ill-designed.

Everyone who worked on this game is to blame for their bad judgement.

What victory?
I beat Monosukoi in a few rounds of Anarchy Reigns and made him lose a bet, so I wanted to rub it in. :P

I still need to get around to playing this. It kept glitching out during the first lady mission or whatever and it wouldn't let me progress, and the sound quality awful... did they ever end up fixing that at least a little bit?

The intro section of ACIII:L is the ugliest section I've suffered through of any game ever. The IQ was unbelievably poor. The rest of the game looks okay though. I should finish it one day.

Personally I thought was good just really rough around the edges like GA.

Can you guys give more detailed impressions of AssCreed Liberation? I'm kind of interested in it, but hoping it will drop under $20.

Edit: just saw Lyphen's edit, thanks

I can't wrap my mind around the fact that a big ass franchise like that would see the release of not one but TWO mediocre (at best) games. I mean, previous chapters weren't good games for me but I somewhat endured/enjoyed all of them, but even many fans of those games rejected AC3 and Liberation. How can you fail so badly when the games' formula is already written, you have a huge (undeserved) fanbase, you're one of the richest and biggest developers in the world and those games have been in the oven for years? Again, can't wrap my mind around it. Nope.

Agreed. I certainly don't think it was stellar, but it was about what I expected from an AC game. Felt like an AC game. Missions like an AC game. A little buggy but not so much that I was frustrated or couldn't continue.

I can't compare it to Liberation, but I didn't think GA really had that many rough edges.
It's like comparing Morrowind (Uncharted) to Big Rigs: Over the Road Racing (Assassin's Creed Liberation). I'm exaggerating, but there's a massive difference in quality between both games.

I'm seriously shocked at how the light sensor worked perfect find in Golden Abyss but made me walk around the room, pointing the camera at anything I could find in hopes that it'd trigger in Liberation.

My complaints with Golden Abyss would mostly be some melee animation jankiness that's been prevalent through the whole series, and the fact that it isn't native resolution. Liberation has a heap of problems, and it takes them to a whole new level (1 FPS animations for NPCs walking down the street - yes, they're teleporting).

Bullshit
Well we are comparing a open world game to a linear one.

Only way GA is rough around the edges is in the framerate department. Everything else about that game's presentation is stellar

Aiming and the swiping touch stuff.

edit: I had more issues with the light sensor in GA then I did in liberation.

Aiming and the swiping touch stuff.

They patched the aiming and it's quite a bit better now without using gyro. Doesn't "slide" all over the place

The swipe stuff would fall under a design decision/preference ...not being rough or janky. It worked just fine, there was just too much of it and came off as super gimicky.

Which is natural when your trying to showcase a new platforms gimmicks in a launch title.

For sure. I didn't bother me too much. I think the problem with it is that is screwed with the game's pacing really bad at times. Like you're in the middle of a quasi chase and Nate stops everything he's doing to piece together a wanted poster.

Playing Playstation All-Stars with Ratchet as my main. Man, seeing him navigate those environments with his signature arsenal REALLY makes me yearn for a 2.5D title on PSN or something

Really hope Vita version of Full Frontal Assault turns out good cause I don't have really any desire to play that on my PS3.

I thought you weren't recommending AC:L though?
Like Big Rigs, its bugs have some comedy value, I'll give it that! :P The first shot I posted was an assassination target in on of the later missions. As I was walking towards him, a bunch of Spanish pirates teleported/glitched in and began attacking his date. Being a non-combatant NPC, he started to walk backwards into the mansion wall in fear, which somehow triggered his death. So I walked up to him and looted his still standing corpse.

All this talk about MotorStorm RC on the last page makes me think we should add each other, decide a stage and try compete for the best lap time if there's a "friend leaderboard"? Do somebody have time to check out of there's such a leaderboard? And would people be interested?

After all, I think we should play more with each other and against each other - like we did in Hot Shots Golf.

Same. Very sub par game.
Derrick, you seem to regard Deus Ex highly with your avatar. I bought Human Revolution for $4 new at my local shop here in Denmark last month but happened gotten around to opening it. Should I just jump straight in and get sucked into the universe of stealth and action? ;)

Yeah, there are leaderboards. That's where a lot of fun for me comes in.

Unfortunately there's no 'live' multi, it's all asynchronous leaderboard stuff. I already have you added so feel free to challenge my times!

I liked AC liberation actually. If it werent for the forced vita gimmicks it'd be my favorite AC title.

So I went to three different stores to find P4 golden today. Sold out everywhere. Am downloading it off psn. One of the best things about digital distribution is the convenience and availability of titles. I had to clean out my 4 gig card though :(

Makes me want another Heavenly Sword is what it does =/

Maybe a 2.5D Ratchet game will come
after Fuse bombs.

The more you talk about it, the more I want to play.

Absolutely. I haven't hopped on with it yet, but just listening to the talk in here, there is definitely some competition for best times. I think more open competition with it would be great (and with many other Vita games).

You misspelled my name, but I will still answer you anyways.

Yes.

Hell yes.

Though I highly recommend just doing a complete stealth playthrough. I found it much more rewarding.

I completely agree about the benefits of DD, though I am saddened to see you trudging along with that pitiful little card. It is well worth upgrading to a 32 GB (yes, even with the insane price gouging).

Okay, GAF. Gods Eater Burst(haven't started), Persona 4 Golden(10 or so hours in), or Chrono Cross(never played)? I want to try and start tackling this never-ending backlog.

Yeah, there are friend leaderboards ingame! You see the ghosts of your friends too.
That's scary. almost like how you're my ghost now

Selfishly? GEB, so you can let me know if it's good or not. Otherwise, P4G. Get some Kanji.

oh this has started huh

Got my Vita and games today :D

This thing is an amazing piece of hardware. I have Ragnarok Odyssey, PS All Stars and Sonic Racing. Add me if you feel like playing any of those games online!

PSN: Severian22

Alright, let's do a MotorStorm RC tournament and I'll update with scores here and maybe do a video of the stage so people outside knows what's up.

What stage should we compete on? I recommend one of the earlier stages/events so all people will have acces. It should also be of the type: Time Attack. Are we doing it through the campaign or isn't there a separate Time Attack mode if I remember correctly?

You should add those who want to compete on your friend list so that you can keep up with the scoreboard.

The plan is to keep it going for 1 week.

Who's in?

So much knowledge to take in with HSG. Too bad my heads exploded and I'm still hitting bunkers on this second course. SMH.
