Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | July 2013 | Slow Month, Fast Games

That PS Blog post on the FFX HD Limited Edition PS3 package only furthers my fear that the Vita version may be cancelled outside of Japan. There's not even a mention that the game is for Vita as well. People on the comments are complaining about the Vita version but the SE PR mouthpiece is not giving any replies.

Yes, that's why they announced Cross save functionality last week in France.

And DJMAX doesn't exist to me as long as it has mandatory touch controls. I really tried to get into the Japanese PSN demo, but I just cannot figure out how to hold the Vita comfortably while playing it.
It's honestly awkward to hold no matter how experienced you are with it (assuming you don't turn rear touch off), but TECHNIKA is not the only kind of DJMAX out there--TUNE's actually a poor representation of the series' incredible note charts due to the simplification required for touch input and Vita screen (arcade version has one more lane). To me, DJMAX is defined by the PSP games. TECHNIKA is fun but not as good as Beatmania-style DJMAX, however, it's still miles ahead of other rhythm efforts in my eyes.

I think it's also a little unfair to jump on TECHNIKA TUNE for touch control stuff when Project DIVA is using Star notes now...

Square Enix are being little snot nosed punks. They better start talking bout the Vita version or I might as well switch to the PS3 copy

Not really, people will make the purchase on the platform they are going to play it on. Seems like many felt the Vita was the better platform in this case ;-)

(I agree, pixels were much too big on a TV)

But you'd think that the Hotline Miami PS3 version would sell far better than the Vita version, given the fact the former's install base far eclipses the latters.

The thing about star notes in PDf is that you can flick anywhere on the touchscreen unlike in Technika Tune, which requires you to stretch your fingers to awkward positions to tap on some of the notes. If Pentavision made a new DJMAX Portable with button controls, I'd get it on the first day of release.

You would think, but if what Jack said about the Vitas attach rate is accurate, it would seem that Vita owners buy more games on average then PS3 owners. The digital adoption on Vita is also higher I believe l, both which will help indies on the Vita.

Also, Shahid apprently kept his word on trying to help on pushing for Japanese localizations.

Given he would neither confirm nor deny any involvement with the localisation the titles NISA recently announced, I'm curious as to whether he will claim any credit in future if #jrpgvita results in some notable announcements. I can see why he's keeping his mouth shut at this stage though.

I can't imagine him having anything to do with NISA's or Aksys' announcements.

Same. Still curious as to why he couldn't give a flat out yes or no. Then again, people would likely barrage him with even more questions if he actually gave an answer.

Makes sense in my opinion, even if he could produce some kind of proof allot of people would just call him a lair outright reguardless. I do find it interesting that we seem to have stumbled into quite a few japanese localizations just recently after his poll, and then not long after that we have more Japanese games announced. If its just a coincedence, its one im happy with either way.

The games at the top of the poll will probably take longer to snag I would think since tales, Final fantasy are different beasts then Nisa, and Aksys stuff.

I think that poll and the announcements were too close to each other to be a result of one another. That and it's not like NISA and Aksys haven't been localizing Vita games in the past.

Rubbing salt into our wounds it seems!

How dumb can they be?

Ah well, every cloud has a silver lining then I guess. If the Vita is doing alright for itself on the digital side of things then that's a small victory.

So what is eveyone gonna get today?
Im thinking of jumping in on Slient hill, Lego Batman 2, Total Recoil (Total: $15) and maybe coconut dodge (Price?)

Its a little cross promotion, a little assholish in context but that's it I guess...

I'm gonna make a move this weekend for a 16 GB, I'm gonna see if I can pricematch Best Buys 29.99 at Target, ill let y'all know how it goes, wish me luck.

Just beat EDF 2017 for the first time on Vita and unlocked the Pale Wing character, but now I hate them for making her an unlockable.

None of your health upgrades or weapons you unlocked carry over to her, so I'm going to have to play through most of it again on easy if I want to get her ready for the harder difficulties. >:|

Oh well, at least her jetpack lets her get around faster, so the levels shouldn't take quite as long.

Lego Batman 2 PS3 (i'd get the Vita version too but it's not worth it since I'm almost done)
Alice: Madness Returns

I wish I was interested in any of the sales today.

What's free on PSN+?

Munch's Oddysee

That reminds me EDF needs to go into 50% sale asap :(

Not before New Little King's Story! Been wanting that game for a while but I don't want to drop $40 on it.

Yep, jack said on the E3 conference that Vita game sales are 60% of all games purchased, which is really impressive if you ask me.

Same. Still curious as to why he couldn't give a flat out yes or no. Then again, people would likely barrage him with even more questions if he actually gave an answer.

Exactly.

On #jrpgvita - we’ve let a lot of partners know about your fervent interest. We’ll keep at it. They’re beginning to notice Vita again. :-)

I also like that bit of his tweet. It shows he is not blind to the lack of support the Vita has been suffering from big third parties.

Is a 3G version that doesn't have a SIM Card in it worth more than a regular PS Vita?
Or does it become the same thing?

The first time I went online a friendly random started the game on the final level so I could get Pale Wing straight away. Then he/she spent some time helping me farm the other levels on high difficulty so I could get some powerful items.

I thought I was just lucky but every time I play online other players have always been friendly and helpful. The vitabros I played with are great too. I don't play EDF as much these days but I'd definitely suggest playing online for the best EDF experience. (Pale Wing and Storm 1 complement each other well. And playing with a full squad of players is awesome since you can really crank up the difficulty and survive.)

3G is a Wifi model with 3G capabilities - so if you're not using the 3G, and have no plans to, then no, it's not worth the price difference.
