vtubers?

Really? looked like she was getting subs at a much faster rate lately, I remember a week or two ago she was barely behind Coco, now not only did she pass her but got to 1 million before Amelia.
Oh sorry, I knew EN was going at a faster rate all of EN has decent sub rates like 10K per day or so. I meant she had not added any extra streams or made them 6 hours to push her sub count faster. Haachama has been running on zero sleep she seem to drop a new video every 4 hours some are short but the animations and details takes a lot of work.

I just meant that Ame was not doing anything more than she had to on regular weeks concerning her 1M is so close 996k as of right now.

Well I already said what I think about HoloEN. It feels like they get a big bonus just for being English, while the Japanese members have to work a lot harder and be a lot more unique for the same amount of subscriptions.

If more people would be aware that HololiveID is also mostly speaking English, I'd assume they'd also have a lot more subscriptions. But most are probably the same as I used to be and think HololiveID is in Indonesian language.

Kiara completely confused about Haachama's 1M stream lol.

Someone replied with a nice summary on twitter:

Edit: Lol Reddit is like 90% Haachama posts right now. Apparently her last stream peaked at over 70k viewers (it was stuck for me so I couldn't see it).

Fuck you all for showing me this vtuber thing. This is like a rabbit hole.... I kinda dig it.

Korone is cute AF.
She is. What did you watch of her?

My top recommendations are the Sonic 1-3 streams, the recent Way Too Fast RPG stream and the English only Challenge Mario Kart 8 stream.

Fun fact: When my mother first saw me watching a Korone stream she asked me: "Why do you watch this when you don't understand a word?"

The second time she came by she was like "She really IS cute."

I did actually watch her Sonic 3 stream and her Mario Kart 8 DX English challenge. I'm getting Doom recommendations of her, some kind of meme, apparently.

The Klonoa one I also liked a lot.

And the R-Type one where the really showed her determination.

Didn't watch the Doom one yet. But if you dig deeper you'll find out that Korone is a yandere, so there's a lot of memes about that. Not sure if you are ready for that yet, though!

Need to watch the Klonoa one.

I just saw the length of the R-Type one and that's some serious dedication, haha.

Also: I am still laughing at something I came across by accident:

Can someone explain me the appeal of this?
All i see is girls acting like children while puppeting an anime doll, there is no content aside from the weird reactions to inconsequential stuff.

Is this a weird sex thing that i am not getting? if you watch an anime there is usually a story and characters talk about stuff, those vtubers just vocalize like little kids that are learning how to speak.

Why do you ask someone to explain it, but you follow up with your take on what it is, this part of the rabbit hole blows my mind. That this is the first reflex thinking of what is going on from many who find out about it.

I am biased because I am an artist and enjoy art in many different forms but, I hope you do understand this reads like an unsophisticated and uncultured take, it is like looking at abstract art and saying your 5 year old can do better. And it always comes down to sex. You are not the first to say these things in here and you won't be the last with the quick reaction. I am not sure what it is that triggers some people to feel the urge to shit on the tech first even when they are curious. Is it the women?

Seriously dude if it was what you think it is, there would not be any reason to have a thread for it. What it is, is the question worth asking because the tech can be used for many things with enough imagination and creativity.

This is the Muppet Show, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Gonzo, nothing more just a new way to do what Jim Henson did, back then no one asked if Muppets was a sex thing. Elmo a furry red monster with a falsetto voice performed by an old black man had no such reactions. It is just entertainment nothing more, and it goes beyond anime depending on who you are watching it can be far deeper than just that.

I mean even PewDiePie can't respect this vtuber tech and finds it an easy joke, because it is hard to get past the giggles reflex. But there is a performance art going on here and it goes far deeper than the surface reaction or shit on it reflex. It is a strange psychological rabbit hole because yes the first thing that comes to someone's mind is this is a perverted sex thing for dweebs.

It is nothing as shallow as that, and it is harder to just explain or understand without spending time in the hole yourself. Because your first impression does not have to be wrong, if you want a girl with a baby voice there is a vtuber for that. If you want it to be a sexual thing there is a vtuber for that. Because it is a performance art it can become anything so their is a vtuber out there for every taste. Not simple to explain.

I mean, what's the appeal of watching a let's play? (which is essentially what this is). For me, it's just to get an impression of a game I might be interested in (I never watch a full let's play, I just use them as gameplay impressions).
And because vtubers are so fucking over the top, it's kind of watchable for me because it's surreal, in a way. I can't watch a normal let's play with commentary because most let's players don't know how to talk (just reciting what can be seen on screen and making awkward attempts at jokes is cringe as fuck IMHO). I mean, there are many people who like to watch the speedrun stuff shown at Game Done Quick, etc. which I don't get.

Not sure if that answers your question. But for me it's not a sex thing at all. For that there are real women and/or porn on the internet.

Not trying to be offensive, i'm just reporting what my uncultured self is failing to understand while asking what's what from the community.

So you are saying this is like a children puppet show but aimed ad adults, and the puppets are sexualized anime girls but it's not about sex.
As a person that enjoys the occasional anime and can appreciate the artistic values of a product aimed at childrens (my girfriend works as an illustrator for children's books), i'm still not getting it.

Yeah i get what you say but the style of reactions is just not my cup of tea, if i happen to watch a let's play it's mostly because i enjoy the expertise and che character of the player.

Edit: Just a note I said Muppet Show because I am old enough to remember most of that show was aimed at adults. Hololive vtubers are aimed at adults.
Elmo was just a point about who is controlling the character becomes less important if you are entertained by who the character is and what they are known for.

I think you are way too focused on the sex thing, like I said that is an easy reaction most people have thinking this is just something for perverts. For the most part many of the character designs are not sexualize at all. And unless you are into furries it is very difficult to masturbate to a dog-girl, wolf girl, or whatever animal some of them represent.

It is an art form first and formost. The anime connection is because this is an extension of Japanese entertainment culture. Japan created the vtuber thing first. The artist and designers of the characters worked on some well know anime and manga so the transition is easy.

But Anime is just an easy style that is popular in Japan. The cute culture, Kawaii culture of Japan explains the choice for style and even baby like voice that you pointed out. Anime does not have to be the limit of this tech it can be used for many styles, they are just easier to design using artist who are already working in that industry.

Marine above is the most perverted member of Hololive if you follow her streams, you will get that is the theme of her character. She went viral for saying I'm Horny.

Not every vtuber is about video games or sex.

In Hololive, (the most popular vtuber agency right now) the idea was each talent is like a Japanese Idol. An entertainer so singing ability weighs a lot more than their ability to play a game on stream.

Hololive targetted adults but they try to be Seiso (pure Idol image)

Much of the comedy of Hololive is driven by shit posts and memes more than anything else. But I think it would be wrong to think of the fans as watching for the sex. Most of the fanbase bully the girls when they tease sexual themes. The joke is they are Idols so they must remain pure so no lewd stuff.

As I said before there is a vtuber out there for every taste. Video game play streams and reactions are just one of the activities the girls do to spend time with fans but they have drawing streams, music streams, 3D streams, Talking Streams, Watching a Movie together streams, wine tasting streams, and Collabs with other vtubers.

Many vtubers use to stream games on Twitch and Youtube before they became a vtuber.
The human is still there but as a vtuber they get a level of privacy while pushing the lore and story of the character they represent on stream.
Again gaming is not all they do, and most vtubers suck at games they play.

this is Ame

many fans watch Ame for the rage quits and toxic energy when she gets frustrated at the game she plays.

She only stopped after 12 hours because youtube doesn't allow for a larger archive size. She was stuck in the same level for 8 hours, but didn't give up until the 12 hours limit was reached.

A bit later she actually went to her manager and asked if it's okay to do a 56 hour endurance stream lol.

I think there are all kind of different appeals you can get from it.

All vtubers are different and consequently have different appeals.

Like it's hard to explain for me what the appeal of vtubers is in general. It could only be stuff like thinking anime girls are just visually more appealing than real life girls for most part.

But if it was about a specific youtuber I can fairly easily say what is appealing to me.

Korone to me is appealing because she is enjoying to play games so much that she is always laughing even when she fails. For me personally a person like that is way more appealing than those frustrated ragequit gamers types.

Coco to me is appealing mainly because of her reddit shitpost reviews format which is amazing (btw, she is probably the most appealing to those that don't "get" vtubers, really give her reddit shitpost review format a try).

Haachama to me is appealing because you never know what you get and also I really appreciate that she's from Japan but still tries to communicate in English, which is actually quite rare for someone born in Japan.

----------------------

There's also a weird sex thing you might not be getting, this probably only applies to some people, but let's say you don't have a partner and are pretty lonely, but you still have desires. Maybe not exactly sexually, but more the desire to just have someone who is there with you. But y'know girlfriends are hard to get and hard to keep and are a lot of effort in general. So technically what people like that did in the past is they went to brothel or otherwise paid for a girl, but instead of actually just having sex, you ended up just cuddling and talking. But it still does not give you much satisfaction because well she just does it because you pay her and she doesn't really know you well and you don't really know her. So with vtubers, if you find someone you really love, you can just let her program run every day, so you always have a person that talks. It first of all makes you feel a lot less lonely. You also get to know the person better over time and feel attached to her. You can actually communicate with her if you're lucky. And several vtubers also do ASMR where you can just lie down in bed and imagine she is next to you. So actually for this kind of desire, this thing here actually gives the highest satisfaction.

Last days were a bit sad for Hololive. Risu had to cancel her stream due to technical problems, Coco had a mental breakdown and Kanata had to kick in her door to save her and Korone is sick from overworking herself.

At least Marine saved the day:

Earthquake 7.1 Magnitude in Japan, Korone had to stop her stream. She send the other vtubers that she's fine, though. The other vtubers that are live (there's a big event right now actually) also seem fine.

Saw somewhere that Coco, Ame and Gura got shadowbanned last night which would explain the low views. Also hope the jp vtubers are handling the earthquake ok.

Man, I can't imagine what Coco's going through. Can't believe the CC antis are getting to her. Hopefully she'll stay strong to see the end of this.

It's getting to her because it persisted for 5 months now and the spam prevents her to speak with her actual fans. Plus apparently someone from the staff made a mistake and gave the antis mod rights instead of banning them (apparently the buttons are right next to each other) and she was a bit overwhelmed with the situation.

Luckily Kanata noticed and came for the rescue.

On a more positive note, I'm really surprised that 5-year-old English speaking girls would watch Japanese Vtubers, but Watame's reaction is so cute:

What's been happening with Coco?
Coco has been getting harass by chinese communist antis for the past 5-6 months now for saying the word Taiwan and using a source that stated Taiwan as a separate entity from China. Even though she got suspended for two weeks it wasn't enough for them. As for the current state of affairs, look at Rya.Reisender Rya.Reisender posted.

That sucks, hope she's okay and can get a handle on this.

Imagine harassing someone on the internet for saying a countries name for 5 months. They either have no lives or are getting money from the government. Pathetic.

Is this also happening to Haachama? She was also banned for the same thing iirc.
