"Its just a joke guys, Elon isnt a nazi so he can't possibly do a nazi salute!!!!!!, it was awkward!!!!!"

Proceeds to do it twice in a row.

Very gamer of him. No idea why @EviLore would be ok with this shit and the people defending this, but whatever im out.

Because this is what these boards have been slowly becoming for a long time now.

like, I can see that a gesture like this can be harmless, but the thing that makes this very much a Hitler salut is the speed at which he does it.
in what world does anyone make a gesture like "my heart goes out to everyone" etc. and just throws his hand into that position at a speed and with a sense of aggression that would make Hitler himself blush.

like... dude...

Only a literal nazi would be so well versed in the form, physics, and intricacies of the salute.

People still haven’t realized that their internet shaming days are gone. no one cares anymore about your outrage. Might as well just stick to your safe space reddit and pretend the outside world doesn’t exist like you have been doing for the last 4 years.

Oh but it’s just beginning - Just imagine the surprise pikachu faces when the loyal constituents themselves will only have internet shaming to go to when they get replaced by a cheaper, smarter, more efficient H1B (already saw a nice preview). Our equities will go up so all we’ll have to do is be rich and internet shame

Whoa Rush, you finally posted twice in one thread 😮

Never thought I’d see the day.

Is this a picture of one of our former president's also doing it??!!

The answer is - no. I don't think O was a Naz. Nor do I think Elon is. People do awkward things sometimes, and a lot of people need confirmation bias with their politics. Ridiculous.
Comparing stills of people holding their hands in the air to Elon's salute. He may not be a Nazi, but he'd know what he was doing (even if he is high as fuck on Ket).

Sure, it might just be him being an edgelord, but it was Nazi salute.

My issue is not a single person here truly knows what ANY of them are personally thinking in any moment. Nobody here knows any of these people personally.

To say, out of a few seconds of imagery, that *insert person* was doing something heinous on purpose, is nothing but people wishing such to be true.

I don't like that. I wouldn't like that for myself, my neighbor, the politicians I like OR dislike, or anybody else.

I was in a sign language group once, and a beginner nervously told the group that yesterday he went and forced sex on somebody. What he meant was work. He worked. But just by moving his wrist the wrong direction by 90 degrees, the entire meaning changed. We know the actual meaning, because he apologized profusely and corrected what he INTENDED it to be.

People do things that look bad all the time. When assuming such vile things of a stranger, I think that's more of a self reflection than a needed reflection of them.

This argument is so fucking ridiculous it's not even funny. It's easy to find out-of-context photos of people extending their right arms to the sky. No one is arguing otherwise.

What is NOT easy to find is fucking this:

Now compare this to the Nazi Salute being performed by actual neo-nazi's last year:

Unbury your heads out of the fucking sand.

Wait... Was that American Sign Language? Because the signs for sex and work are WAY different and not a matter of 90°.

I think you're extending him a lot of benefit of the doubt, given the Nazi salute is probably one of if not the most infamous and well known salutes around the entire world.

As I said, it's probably more likely him doing it to be an edgelord and show that there's no limitation on what you can do / say anymore than him being an out and out Nazi, but he fucking knew what he was doing without a doubt.

We are allowed to within context in contained threads if the issue is serious enough (say, child rape gangs).

I assume this thread is being allowed to let off steam and will be locked once it's deemed it has died down.
What about Trump inauguration? It kind of blows my mind if that is not allowed.

Each one of those others (Harris, Clinton, Bush and Obama) were waving high... Not putting hand to chest with rigid fingers and thumb and saluting like Musk did. You know this! Look at his fingers in the salute!

Looks similar to this...

I can’t believe i’m in this timeline. Imagine being a war veteran and seeing this…

Yes. Rough sex and work are extremely similar.

Edit for clarity: I'm using work as a place (job), not the verb.

Edit (again), it's 180 degrees, to be fair. Whoops.

I would argue it is more ridiculous to assume you know someone's thoughts based on a 2 second movement. Those people are clearly DISPLAYING their thoughts, makes the context easy to gather.

Do you think the ADL is also stupid?

There are two signs for sex... And "x" on the cheek and jaw OR the sign for "fuck" which is the sign for "v" on both hands positioned to look like two pairs of legs facing each other slapping together. Neither of those look like "work" which is two fists touching at the wrists ... Like so...

But are you talking about this?

In context, there's no way to mistake either of these signs for the other. That would be a complete rookie mistake... Like it's your first time signing anything!

I literally just said the dude was a beginner. First year asl student at his first public meeting with the ASL group I was in. I did 4 years, as well as some interpreting.

I can give you the deets and the professors name if you'd like to contact to confirm my story from a decade ago, I guess. It was a memorable chuckle. It's 180 degrees of difference.

Sentence "yesterday, I go, to work/ job."

He said "yesterday, I go, to force sex"

Really not a difficult mix up. He was responding to "what did you do yesterday?"

I'm just saying, if after a year someone gets "work" THAT wrong, that's either a Freudian slip or he wasn't really paying attention in class.

No.

No, no, no. Not a year in. First year. I was year 3 at the time, iirc. This was a first year coming to a monthly meet up, as in - he was in class for... Idk a few weeks at that point? It was fall semester for them, because I remember the meet up being cold weather.

Oh ok. Well, it's nice to see someone else on here knows ASL. :)

Haha, I am rusty now. Stopped going to a lot of meetups when my mom got cancer and my job load increased.

My wife still does random interpretation for people, but I could never these days. I would be a mess.

Was, at one point, pretty good though! I did 5 total years in class settings, as well as plenty of extra non-education related ASL. Good times.

I have a deaf cousin and her oldest daughter is fluent in ASL (my daughter is too) and I was a video call with her today and spoke exclusively in ASL.

My attention span isn't suited to the super fast signers. Never has been. My brain really can't keep up (yet I can catch a really fast fist)

I'm sorry about your mom. You have my condolences.

I'd say it's been pretty 50/50. Lot of people have different feelings here.

But I don't understand the growing recent sentiment that GAF sucks by posters always drive-bying comments like this. Just leave the forum if you hate it. Simple.

GAF is pretty dope. Yeah, I am often in the minority on my views and some are (I feel) twisting themselves into pretzels defending Musk but this place is a HAVEN from the far left/right. I hate drive by posters but I think he was just showing his frustration on this
