Warframe devs add three new emotes. You won't believe the price.

That title is ridiculous.

local Chroma finds WEIRD TRICK to getting crazy ICE POWERS. Frosts HATE him. Find out HOW by CLICKING THIS LINK.

And while the free emotes are nice, it isn't like Warframe doesn't have silly microtransaction shenanigans going on.

Yeah I haven't played Warframe in a while, but their support has been excellent and the deal very fair. As a matter of fact I'm still sitting on a pile of currency they've been giving away last year. I don't even like the concept of free to play, but Warframe made me soften my position on that topic.

Click-bait title totally worked.

I super appreciated when Mass Effect 3 multiplayer (hey, some of us enjoyed it) did this with tons of free content
with the option to pay for a chance to unlock it faster, but still
.

I really need to get back in to this game. They've added a crap load of new content from what I've read since I last played around launch. It's a nice distraction.

Yeah, Warframe doesn't get to poke fun at Destiny when their F2P scheme is disgusting

I'm not a pro F2P person at all, but Warframe's F2P scheme isn't disgusting at all comparatively. The only thing that's a huge pain in the ass to get and you can only get at specific times are cores for your suits, everything else is readily available at all times, and you don't even need those cores.

Bungie gets equal blame from me.
Yet you have no real argument for why this is. Bungie has no say on how anything is priced. If activision wanted to they could turn destiny into a f2p with microtransactions like war frame. They could charge a sub fee like world of Warcraft. Or they could release a 'game of the year addition for 200 dollars. Bungie could do nothing about any of this.

Whatever that is. Destiny has 2 (two) expansions.

Is that a lot?

well, since Warframe came out of closed beta, they've added over ten new map-types, a few new PvE gamemodes, Revamped the UI twice, Revamped the map screen once and are in the process of another, Revamped the melee combat, revamped the damage system, revamped the rendering engine, revamped the audio, added hundreds of guns and melee weapons, added companions suck as new sentinels and Kubrows, and are about to add more, added hubs for player to commune and interact, added groups with which the players can side their allegiance and unlock group specific bonuses, added over 20 new warframes and Prime variants of those warframes, added in a new and improved PVP mode with more balance, Added space missions where you don jetpacks and fly around, and are now on the verge of revamping the Parkour system, as well as a new map-type that takes place under water and requires swimming. They also added cloth simulation to the game.

ALL FOR FREE.

EDIT:: Forgot about them adding a Liset/Player ship. As well as doing Dev streams every other Wednesday, where they divulge information about upcoming changes to players and answer questions while drinking beer or eating pizza, etc. Next one starts in an hour BTW http://www.twitch.tv/warframe

people are actually defending Bungie and Destiny? You see, that's what's wrong with this industry. People follow these companies blindly into the abyss.

No, I'm talking about the model that makes sure crafting is as much of a grindy hassle as possible to make those Platinum purchases seem enticing.

It's easier to get something for free in Warframe than Destiny, even with that grindy crafting system. I'd go so far as to say Destiny is grindier.

Agree to disagree I guess. I've found players are super helpful when it comes to resource farming. And if you're too impatient to wait 12 or 24 hours for something, that's your problem.

I think this was just convenient timing (there's usually a Thursday update), but it's pretty funny all things considered.

Warframe is fun!

You mean the scheme where everything is optional, and the real money currency can be traded?

The one part of Warframe monetization that bothers me is the very limited weapon slots and warframe slots, you'll fill them up with decent warframes/weapons long before trading loot for platinum can really be considered.

That said, you buy $10 worth of platinum (you also get decent discount coupons as log-in rewards), buy more slots with that, and then you'll have way more freedom and can get to trading proper before running out of space.

Seriously, in a game where pretty much anything can be earned in a day, having a 12-24 hour wait time on crafting it isn't too bad. Another thing is, you can farm for things then sell them for platinum, which I know a lot of people do.

I'm not trying to defend Destiny. Just saying Digital Extremes shouldn't act like they're any better

But how can I feel special if everyone uses the same emotes as me? I want people to know that I am richer and willing to spend more money than they are on useless bullshit.

I fell asleep for a second and combined Warframe and Destiny in my head briefly. Could be greatest or worst game of all time, depending on which pieces survive the combo.
Oh, this is why?
I wonder if the mods can update his tag every time another company slams his best friend Destiny.

Yeah, the storage space is the big hook to pay, but that's a one time transaction and doesn't even cost much money. I'll also say that the orihalkon core blueprint only being available in timed missions is a pay hook, and it bothers me too, but you also don't have to spend much money to buy all the cores you need.

The hilarious thing is that they are better consumer-wise than a paid game in terms of grindyness.

Bungie had many choices, they're not some poor small indie developer.
They could have self published if they really cared and still be profitable.
They left Microsoft for their "vision", if Destiny was so important to them, they could do, say and protest things in many ways.
I don't like people giving them a free pass as if their hands are tied and there's absolutely nothing they could do.
Bungie has huge power at Activision, so does Rockstar at Take Two.

Can someone clarify to see if my memory is wonky... didn't Warframe have an investment/purchase system before it launched? Similar to Steam Early Access or like Kickstarter stuff?

Anyhow the grind required in Warframe is crazier than anything in Destiny and last I played there were mission points where you really needed Guild Members who were more powerful to help you get past them. The level generation is just random arrangement of terrain type tiles too.

So really Warframe is a slightly different flavor of the things most people complain about in Destiny. This really is a shot taken for sone "Look at me!" attention.

Spoken like someone who barely tried 'frame. Don't spread misinformation.

Came to post this, Bungie is not some kind of victim here

I'm having fun in Destiny but the knocks are well deserved

If Bungue went Indie they wouldn't have been able to make a Triple A quality game. There's no way they could budget that and be profitable.

Destiny has more grind than Warframe has. Stop defending the grind.

This absolutely wasn't true when I played. Grinding in Warframe the only thing to do to advance.

ITT: people who don't play warframe complaining about nonexistent issues with the game's F2P model.

The only thing that irks me is the lack of inventory slots. But a day or two of grinding towers should let you sell some items for plat and buy more.

I've spent $10 and will likely never need to spend more.

Both games are entirely based on grinding.

Warframe is top tier in F2P models. You can do EVERYTHING without spending money, and it is all realistically accomplishable.

Free to play with lots of grinding and microtransactions. I'd rather play Destiny, especially after House of Wolves.
Good thing Destiny doesn't have that!

There are no required microtransactions in Warframe. I played the game for three months and never spent a dollar. I was in endgame with everyone else, having a blast.

I don't know. I still choose to play Destiny over Warframe anyway.

destiny has the polish for sure...

if warframe could clear up some of the drab colour schemes, and lag, and a few other bugs, it would be no contest...

warframe is a vastly superior game, but sometimes its the little things that kill

Eh? You could level up a suit in no time in warframe, and you didn't have to grind to do so. You could continuously move forward in the game without stopping and still be reasonably competent. Grinding was mostly to get specific weapons and suits than anything, and the grind for that in warframe is less luck and more getting the right numbers, while in Destiny it's pure luck(even with the orange vendor, you're rolling the dice on whether what you want will be in his shop).

Spoken like someone who barely tried 'frame. Don't spread misinformation.

I played quite a bit but I also quit awhile ago. Right before they added the melee system and guild/clan comps. When I played there was an Earth Defense mission that was completely unreasonable and you had to have a very powerful suit or guild members run you through it. And at the time everyone was just grinding for certain cards and reactors or whatever they were called.

The quality of a game is in the developer, not just the money. I know whenever I play Destiny, and more recently Batman, I can't believe a game like that cost as much to make as it does.

Take all the countless games like Metro, Witcher 2, Warframe, etc.

You don't need tons of money when you have talent, and a good business model.
