Warhammer 40k Darktide: New class no one cares about announced

I am honestly not suprised at all that this has not been posted, as a regular player and someone who would describe Darktide as my "main" game, I have been whelmed by indifference over this, so here we are...

The class does sound more interesting than they appear on paper.

But man the only plus is that they cant release this as a class again, so the choices for the next class can only go up.

Comes out some day early December I cant be arsed to remember.

The game is frankly a gem, a goddamn miracle of gameplay and sound.
Fatshark makes the game, waits for everyone to leave and then pushes updates after updates 3 years later.

Do the Fatshark fans prefer Darktide over Vermintide 2? I know Vermintide still gets new content as well.

Personally I prefer Darktide for all its issues. I would argue Vermintide 2 is the more complete game with more content.

However there's just something about that 40k atmosphere that keeps drawing me back to Darktide. If you haven't given it a go pick up a discounted key or it on sale and buy the Arbites class they released prior. Its an excellent additional class with an AI pet dog thats honestly all I play anymore.

Just looks like a Necromunda person to me.

Thats literally it, but just the most generic underhive ganger version of it. Not something cool like a Water Guild.

I know they won't, but I would love for Fatshark to make a single player first person game in any of the Warhammer universe.

Feels weird to see small caliber auto-pistols in the 40k setting. Usually it's just the pew-pew flashlights or bolters.

Biggest problem with the game for me, is that 1+ year later I STILL can't find the proper settings for the aiming to feel good - it's either WAY too sticky to the point it feels you're teethered to the enemy, or, way too loose/oversensitive to the point of over-aiming all the time...

I need a preset that feels like Halo/COD 'cause it isn't working for me so far

There is something, the ganger has a new Toxin health DoT to go along with the prior Burning and Bleed we already have.

The deluxe edition shows us some weapons skins, that middle gun if im not mistaken is a needler.

Which is an intresting Toxic weapon in the 40k universe. But "stub" guns can be just as effective if not more so depending on how they are used. Its just that las weapons have many advantages especially in regards to logistics. You can charge a Las cell at any imperial power source, in a pinch you can throw the cells directly into a fire which returns some of the charge at the expense of permentally damaging the cell and decreasing its life span. Essentially don't discount regular firearms in the 40k universe, they can turn out to be just as effective with a ready supply of ammo.

Also "small Calibur" stubs are essentially 1911's so imagine .45 ACP level rather than 9mm.

As someone who's put 100+ hours into both with friends, Darktide is better (now), for the simple reason that you have more abilities to play with in Darktide. I played as the pyromancer in Vermintide, and my options were generally limited to melee, ranged (ability varying based off chosen weapon), and ultimate. In Darktide, I play as the psyker and on top of melee and ranged I also have a pair of utility spells (of my choosing) that I can also mix up based off the situation. My particular psyker has ranged charged/non-charged bolts for primary DPS, chain lightning for crowd control, and a shield bubble that I can deploy at range to mitigate enemy fire. It's not as panic-inducing as being rushed down by rats in Vermintide, but I feel much more capable and satisfied for/by making tactical decisions.

The game's also just easier to play. The Vermintide gear system is an RNG nightmare but getting better gear and upgrading it in Darktide is a much more pleasant experience. Stage collectibles are also better in Darktide (by which I mean there aren't as many of them and they don't rely on janky platforming like in Vermintide).

Launching later today around 5-6PM GMT.

Im going to give it a shot, but thats largely because I just play Darktide anyway. I cant see this bringing in that many people, or even getting prior players back in. But I could be wrong... the duel 1911's look fun to use at least.

I remember playing this day one when I had game pass back then.
I remember it ran like shit so I ditched it.
Seen it on sale many times since then, but doesn't seem like it gained the attraction Vermintide did.

Disable v sync, use free sync or g sync.
I can't recall the last time I used v sync I fucking hate the latency

Punk rock girl boss. Imagine the damage she could do to chuds if they misgender one of her friends.

Darktide is underrated though. I need to dive back in.

I clicked the thread thinking, "Nah, I'll at least be slightly interested"

Nope. You were absolutely correct. It is actually impressive how uninteresting they managed to make a 40k class.

Thanks Mike but I'm on PS5...

Cheers

So first impressions, iv got to level 20/30.

I have tried all 3 trees and all new weapons (although not with perfected builds)

So far I prefer the starting loadout over everything else. Duel SMG + Shivs, with the changes to ranged enemies this patch the bonus that the improved defualt desperado skill gives, an immunity to all ranged damage while active is by far the best. Alongside not costing ammo to reload while its up, this allows you to essentially annilate entire hordes, by mag dumping none stop, only carapace enemies cause you issues which is where the rocket launcher blitz comes in. Stacking my stim for maximum passive skill regeneration, means I keep getting it up again and again after a small delay.

You are incredibly squishy and if you are caught out once you die, but its certainly a very fun and frantic experience. Kudos to darktide for making such an uninteresting choice fun to play.

The trailer for the new class says absolutely nothing about it, it looks like a crazy bitch with machine guns...

Such a huge downgrade from the last class.

Vermintide has more content but the shooting and melee in darktide are improved enough in term of feelingthat playing vermintide now feels like a clear downgrade, darktide has some of the best shooting guns in videogame history, regulars know what i'm talking about, space marine 2 feels like a joke compared to darktide, fight me.

Darktide also has better music and i prefer killing darktide enemies over the rats in verm.

New class releases can be pretty annoying tho, playing with my brother last night and every game seen us paired up with a couple of the hive scum class. Spent most of the games getting them up as I guess folk are still getting used to it. Seems like a hit & run class but most treat it like some kinda Zealot :messenger_grinning_sweat:

I'm with you on that, I don't think there's anything more satisfying out there right now than dumping a Boltgun mag into a couple of approaching Crushers.

Game is 75% off and the #4 best selling item on Steam right now (After CS2, PUBG & Steam Deck).
I miiiiiight pick it up. Just because you can play as an Ogryn.
