That's one criticism of part 2 I never understand.
At the start of Abby's story you quite clearly walk past the gym, you can't miss it.
Shes completely motivated by revenge and is training for the sole purpose to kill Joel.
She's in a secure area, well fed and training in a gym. I think the people who complain about her being jacked mustn't have played the game and just use it as an excuse for the woke crap.
Muscle mass is not the same as strength. There are some comparatively small powerlifters. Also, muscle tension is largely genetics. A skinny baboon probably has more raw strength than the strongest man. Likewise the skinniest man of similar mass to a buff woman usually has an edge in strength. I can only think one woman on Earth that has strength far greater than most men her size and it is due to a genetic gift coming from generations of circus performers.

Done and done.

Even though he kills a fucking Bloater with a machete and bare hands in TLOU II, which is a bit excessive.
But was a parent in protection mode in that moment, and it's an extremely badass scene so whatever.
dude. I gotta replay those games. The part 1 remake has been in my backlog since it came out... Same with tlou2 remaster since I've only finished it on ps4 slim on release.
Gotta finish separate ways first!

Joel wasn't dumb and i'm certain that he took his health more serious after the spore outbreaks happened so I can see an ex construction worker staying fit in his 50's after an apocalyptic degradation of society. And also it is faintly implied that he took care of his health since he was a single parent that was trying his hardest to take care of his child.

Dad strength is real, and strength is one of the last things to go after reflexes and cardio

You do understand Huge Jacked Man not just had the best trainers and coaches, but also very tailored concoctions of testosterone and other gear to get him here, right?

Every 6-12 month Hollywood transformation you see like this is heavily on the juice
No no, they use creatine.

The fact is that a woman could not look like Abby in a post apocalyptic world. A 52 year old man could looks like Joel though.

Those are the facts bud, pick up a biology text book.
A woman who is well fed and devotes herself to heavy weight lifting for years, starting in her mid teens?

Is a hell of a lot more realistic than Joel maintaining his muscle mass in a largely unplanned trek across the United States on foot over the course of a year.

Facts don’t care about your feelings. Abby is a hell of a lot less unrealistic than Joel from the time skip onwards. This is a guy that during that time skip was a marauding scavenger to boot. Again we see more than enough contextual information to understand how she’s that jacked and your hand-waiving of context does you no favours.

You just don’t want to admit it, because yeah. Muscle girl doesn’t make your dick hard and you work backwards from there.

A women on steroids could easily look like that. If they are able to build hospitals to conduct surgery and make a cure no reason to believe they can't continue making steroids.
yea i think they keep making Huel and Gold Whey and i think they operated a rudimentary postal service to deliver these good also. there was no reason not to, they had to get Abbyzilla in shape after all.

Hilarious that clueless people are posting pics of famous celebrities, you realize they are on a variety of substances right? Lmfao
Funny how everyone was a supposed nutritional expert when it came to Abby, but now none of that matters because a dude in modern day went on gear for a film lol

Do you people..
mad people GIF

Not realise that human beings come in all shapes and sizes with some winning the genetic lottery? I've met old dudes on site who've spent their lives hauling heavy ass pipe up and down building sites built like brick shit houses that could put you into the ground with one punch and these are all over 50

500 mg per week?

Nope, not even creatine. I'm 180 pounds and been lifting since '99. You'd be surprised what you can do when you're not a sedentary nerd. Jeff Nippard, Geoffrey Verity Schofield, and many other natties are bigger and leaner than I am. My abs barely even show at this weight. I need to get to 170 to be shredded, I think.

Has OP ever stepped foot inside a gym before? You will regularly see old jacked guys will the same build as Joel inside any gym in any city across America.
Joel wasn’t taking care of himself (literally, you see it with his excessive drinking and comments from Marline) even within the context of being a scavenger for years and then a lower class smuggler in a city on the verge of collapse where they make a point of how terrible the rationing is for citizens.

And that’s before he takes an unplanned trip across the post apocalyptic United States, on foot, over an entire year and nearly dying over the winter.

On no planet is his build realistic from basically the initial time slip onwards, or rather it becomes increasingly unrealistic.

Great results. A lot you can do with lighting to make yourself look unnatural though

Why no creatine?

Amen to that, lighting and angles and a pump work wonders. In a large shirt I look fit but not very muscular.

I recently quit(early this year), it helped me when I started and I did take it off and on since '99. I have just recently started thinning(hair) so I wanted to see if stopping would have any effect. Probably not, but no harm is trying. Plus I haven't noticed much of a detrimental effect from stopping so far.

Nahhh, I’m 47 (go look at my pic lol)

For the record according to DOD (department of defense) the human body is in its physical prime between the ages of like 28-32.

That means when I was 31 I had to do my 2 mile run faster and I had to do more sit-ups and push-ups then someone between the ages of 18-27.

I’ve gone on and off creatine and can’t tell much of a difference either but the it anyways due to the evidence

I guess if your diet steady includes a decent amount it may not help much beyond that

Joel is repeatedly called old, old timer and Gramps throughout the game. Yet the guy looks like he's in his mid 30s and has the strength of men in their 20s

He cleaves through men like they're nothing and Has a higher body count that drake. He pretty much looks the same as he does in the intro, other than abit of silver in his hair; which men get in their 30s anyway.

Man went through hell. Daughters dead; had to murder innocent people for 20 years just to eat.

Could this man achieve Joel's feats?

Oh come on, don't be so disingenuous. The dood in that pic you posted is late-60's/ early 70's easily. People in their early 50's don't look like this even if they're out of shape.

Yeah, you read all the supposed benefits like cognition and bone health and feel dumb not to take it.

Anyway, here is a good example of how I can go from unnatty to do I even lift depending on lighting and clothing. These pics are from the same week.

A man can easily look better in his 40's and 50's than some 20 year old dudes. It's called not being a lazy fuck, workout and genetics. That is without the use of steroids and shit.

This right here. I don’t expect a bunch of young gamers that can’t get through the day without a Red Bull, to understand.

I couldn't lift the numbers I do without Creatine. I definitely notice when I'm off of it and have decreased energy and strength pretty quickly.

I've been using reflex creapure creatine since the age of eighteen to forty two and have no intentions of stopping.

My testosterone levels are fortunately higher than average, but i'll be going straight on to TRT when my testosterone starts to decend!

I have a friend who is on TRT and is smaller than me still, so it isn't the best advertisement. Granted, he parties and drinks so he could probably be bigger and more ripped if he got serious. He keeps trying to get me to go to the clinic he goes to to get hooked up but I don't feel like I need it. High BP already runs in my family and mine is higher than it should be so I don't want to push it with TRT.

Very inspiring. You must spend a lot of time working out though? How many times are you in the gym a week and for how long?

I can literally fit in two sessions a week between work and family and trying to sneak in some gaming. I do some running also so am never going to be as massive as this, I’ve been increasing my strength training where I can bench about 80Kg 10 reps and 3 sets which a year ago I couldn’t even dream of. I have just been slowly increasing my weight and can see the difference from just twice a week, I could do another 1 session maybe but I get real bad DOMS on the second day usually 😂

I live in a rural part of the US where a lot of people are doing manual labor most of their lives who may not look like much but are deceptively strong, even the old timers. Joel being an ass kicking machine going through all that emotional trauma was the most believable thing in the series.

Unless your testosterone is on the lower end, definitely stay away from it as it'll have adverse affects. I'd only go on it under the strict guidance of a doctor personally. I know a few people in there fifties on TRT and they have packed on some serious size!

TRT likely here at a minimum, which is normal considering his age.

Joel wouldn’t be fat and would be in better shape than most of his age group today. Always moving, not over eating, probably next to zero sugar in his diet. People underestimate what simple things we as a species neglect and the effects they have on the body. This is obviously ignoring all the trauma he has gone through

Thanks man, I think the key is starting young if you want to reach your genetic potential. When your natural test and healing abilities are at their prime. From there it is pretty simple to maintain. Muscle memory is crazy and real.

I once had an injury that took me out for 10 months. I still live with the back pain but I was able to gain back all of my muscle and strength within 3 months. It was crazy. I wouldn't have blamed anyone for thinking I was on steroids. You can actually see examples of this on The Biggest Loser show. When someone goes from really fat to big and ripped it's because they used to be big and ripped in high school and college.

Anyway, I do spend a lot of time working out. Essentially every day the plan is to go to the gym immediately after waking. I have cut back a little but I was probably doing 1.5-2 hours a day. For several years. The last couple of months I've cut back to 1 hour or so and haven't noticed anything bad happening.

I do run in the summer and if I go overboard on the runners high, I do lose too much lean mass so it's definitely a balance.

Yeah I would say you are at peak (real) natty or thereabouts

Good stuff, keep at it

A 52 year old man that takes poor care of himself, who’s a basic citizen/smuggler without any extra provisions or workout equipment, living in a city on the edge of collapse is totally acceptable to be a powerful murder machine yet somehow a girl that has almost literally lived at the gym for years and is one of the best soldiers (is a favoured class based on their militaristic leader) of her incredibly well established (where we literally walk through an entire football stadium devoted mostly to livestock, agriculture, and general infrastructure, somehow is unrealistic lol

And all the men people are posting? Joel had nothing like that, be it weights or nutrition, for years.

And let’s pretend that all of these movies aren’t selling a completely unrealistic fantasy. You guys are posting images of actors that literally went on a workout routine we could never afford to temporarily be unrealistically buff for a film.

Workout routines aren't expensive if you know what you're doing i don't have a fraction of the money of those Hollywood actors but my physique puts them shame and I have receipts!
