So I came across this hilarious comparison between Halo Craig's Infinite Vs Killzone Shadowfall by KingThrash (discovered this dude when someone here in GAF had shared his older video). Some of the world detail and animations are so good even to this day. It's crazy how GG managed to pull this off so early in the PS4 life cycle, it was a launch title. The level design and navigation and combat encounters were weak, but the visuals were something else.

I still play it from time to time, bots mp is great for chilling and shooting

Looks amazing, runs sort of smooth, ultimately its biggest issue.......the sp is bland and not very kz at all

Still holds up with the latest shooters now, gfx wise.

But as saud already, remaster kz2, yeh give me kz2 vr and ill buy a ps5 and all the gear required to play it

I really hope they patch this on ps5 and throw it on plus at launch as we are not getting another any time soon sadly. A collection with 1, 2, 3 and shadow fall would be nice to in the style off the master chief collection. 2 at 4k 60fps minus the input lag would be excellent.

Somehow it's still one of the best looking games this gen.

When people make excuses about launch games not looking great this is a game I think of.

Would love a PC release of this along with a remaster of KZ2/3.

If it didn't have the name Killzone, people wouldn't have irrationally shit on it. It was a ridiculously high quality launch title for a console. The multiplayer was really well done too.

Unfortunately, people only wanted to play auto aim Battlefield 4. Shadowfall didn't use magnetism and played really well because of it, but console kids want that cursor to snap to their target for them. Fuck aiming!

Graphics absolutely. Gameplay not really. I'm a huge Killzone fan and I hardly touched it after I beat the main story; but the multiplayer was still solid for what it was.

However Killzone 2 was incredibly ahead of it's time, and I consider it a masterpiece.

Hahah, no, FPS on this gen that's not 60fps, that's way behind it's time. Don't know how performance was in multiplayer, but in singleplayer it was awful, no matter how 'good' it looked.

Please just give me a killzone 2 MP remaster without the 200ms of input lag and I'll buy a PS5 day one as well. That headshot chirp........mmmmmmmm

KZ2 MP is my most played on PS3 gen. Platinumed it during it's release, even managed to be part of the top 5000 players in the warzone leader boards. A remake/remaster of the MP at 60fps would be glorious

Couldn't have agreed more!

Graphics were amazing.

Sadly I couldn't finish the main campaign.

Still want to revisit it though at some point.

Because they wanted to make a technical showcase of the new gen/hardware and pushed too much the graphics and visuals on the still 'too green' engine and API. The multiplayer was checkerboard and 60 fps but was a victim of that decision too of course.
Killzone is my favorite Sony franchise and i expected more but understand, what i don't understand nor support is what they did with the storyline _ they never should have blow up Helghan, and at least make a reboot.

Wow that put halo in the 🗑. Damn it Microsoft. How do they expect to win a gen only with teraflops when their devs are lazy as f*ck. This is pure laziness.

Awful game like the rest of the series (except the PSP title). It's slugish and even PS4 Pro can't run it in decent framerate. You can't be serious comparing it to Halo.

Killzone shadowfall was The "wow!" to this gen what Gears was to last gen.

unfortunately once you realize the graphics are skin-deep you have a rather mediocre FPS that borrowed more from CoD than its own prequels and the multiplayer was just average.

I can't believe I'm saying thisbut I would rather play Craig Infinity than K:SF2 (which is ok because they went the horizon 2 route)

Really liked MP and specially "operations" mode in KZ3, didn't like any of the MP modes in KZ:SF so never played it that much after the campaign.

It still holds up graphically, except for the character models, which is saying a lot.

Guerilla are just talanted, you can rely on them to deliver that next gen leap.

It always saddens me to read gameplay criticism for KZ:SF.

I thoroughly enjoyed it from start to finish, including the multiplayer.

Overly criticized game. Astonishing presentation.

I thought SP was OK with some highlights in the more open levels. MP was great fun. Different, interesting and where the game was truly ahead of it's time was the technique used to hit 1080p and get closer to 60fps in MP. Not checker boarding but interlacing with interpolation based on the previous frame. Very clever, great results and got them a stupid class action lawsuit for their troubles.

Yes graphically. No for anything else. I really struggled playing it. I couldn't find myself finishing it and it was A lousy launch lineup. Tried a few times but it was really missing some soul. MP was good Though

You can make a case for Killzone Shadow Fall being ahead of its time without comparing it to the lackluster Halo: Infinite reveal. That's just riding the hate wave and piling on for clicks.
Putting any good looking FPS next to Halo: Infinite will make a case for it.

Visually I thought it was gorgeous but I got bored pretty quickly, I don't know if the pacing or level design had something to do with that, I just couldn't take to it.

I know KZ2 is a favourite however I liked 3 the best, campaign and multiplayer.

KZ2 and the two handheld KZ titles (Mercenary and Liberation) were the highlight of the series for me. They seem to take two steps forward and one step back with every single entry. I bounced off Shadow Fall hard but I should give it another try.

I loved this game. Come at me bros.

Platinumed it, including the not-so-fun multiplayer. Didn't bother with the DLC, but the main game was plenty enjoyable enough. I wish they'd make a new KZ for PS5, but I can understand if HZD is a bigger money maker for them. GG is one of those truly talented devs when it comes to in-game visuals. This game was a feast for the eyes.

I thought it was very impressive that the multiplayer was 60fps without sacrificing the visual identity of the game. Very impressive optimisation.

Barely 60 alot of the time, but for a launch title and most fps games on ps3 not even hitting 30fps, at the time it felt butter smooth when compare to the previous gen

I just hated it didnt feel moody like kz2, or have the ww2 space nazi vibe anymore

Still I liked it, some calling the worst fps they've played is pure hyperbole

Yes, Shadowfall is still the best looking FPS we got all of last gen. Give us a 4K 60fps remaster and let it shine even more......

A 4k 60fps remake of KZ2 would be absolutely bonkers though...

I played the game at launch and it dropped my jaw playing it the first time.

It was the first time I saw next generation visuals - before having my own gaming PC - that floored me.

And Guerilla knew what they were doing, which is why the opening shots of the game are so up close to their characters faces to showcase the details.

Love that game.

I'd probably hate it if I played it today though.

The graphics were pretty.... But that's it.

Just like Ryse: Son of Rome.... Really pretty... But sooo bad. I upgraded my PC because of Ryse and I bought KZ SF with the PS4.... I was:

Good graphics, bad gameplay. The Guerilla recipe.

I loved the world of KZ2 but it was straight up unplayable du to the clunky and slow controls. Is it the worst input lag in gaming history?
