So here's the deal. Over the past week there've been a lot of rumors that FOX is going to cancel Arrested Development (one of the funniest shows on television in years), or they're going to shorten the season, or they're going to cancel it after this season, or who knows what. It's really weird, but the good thing for us is FOX has 2 more weeks before they really have to decide anything.

So in an attempt to get more people to watch the show and hopefully get hooked on it (I only started watching it a few weeks ago, and it's now one of my 5 favorite shows of all time), I'm going to bribe anyone willing to do so. I shouldn't have to, since it truly is a funny show, but I don't always listen to people who yell at me to watch their cult tv shows like Angel or whatever, so I figured I might as well do everything in my power.

The show airs at 8:30pm (EST and PST) on FOX tonight.

Since I'm on the West Coast, I'll be watching the PST feed. Right after the episode ends (9:00pm PST), I will post a trivia question from the episode (ie "Who was the guest star in the episode", but not that one, since you can figure out that answer without watching the show).

Anyone who PM's me with the correct answer and a seperate line with a tag will get that tag of their choice. Anyone posting the answer in this thread will have their post deleted, and if I catch anyone giving the answer to people who didn't watch the show, I will ban your account. Remember, I'm just doing this to get more people to watch the show, so don't go fucking that up please.

So to reiterate, if the question was "Who was the guest star in the episode", the PM you'd send me would look like this:

Martin Short was the guest star.

I'd like my tag to be 'World's Best Junior Member'.

Alright, so are we clear on this? Any questions, feel free to ask them in this thread. Feel free to ask any questions about the TV show too, as there are a bunch of people on GAF who already friggin love the show even more than I do, and that's saying a lot. It takes most people, myself included, a few episodes of watching to get a good feel for the characters (and it really helps if you start out from the beginning), but give the show a chance tonight to see if you're interested.

Oh, I'd also like to specify that this is not the right thread to criticize the show or criticize my stickying a thread about a show I like or anything. I'm not sure if it's on Aussie TV, do you guys get FOX (channel that has The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Idol, etc)? Arrested Development is on right after The Simpsons and right before Family Guy, so hopefully that will answer your question.

I REALLY want to like this show. I really SHOULD like this show. I WATCH this show. I've laughed sometimes.


I guess there are plenty of worse things on TV that should be cancelled before AD. In fact, I know there are.

Unfortunately, AD isn't the "end all be all" for me. I hope for all it's fans that it lives a long life. I can't say I'd miss it terribly personally, although I also can't name a comedy currently on TV as better.

I guess it's one of those shows that is pretty decent, albeit way overrated on these forums.

Another thing that could help is to send a short letter to Fox's publicity department and just let them know how much you love the show.

I made it a point to watch the Pilot, and the first 5 episodes after that. All funny...but I just never was able to watch every ep, and I hate missing an ep from any series. I have Season 1 of AD, and I've yet to watch it. Mike, I'll TiVo it if it matters.

The thing is, average people don't help the ratings of shows. Certain households have those Nielson boxes that records what they watch, how old they are, etc and they interpolate the data for the whole country based off that. Not to rain on your parade or anything though.

You'd think with a forum the size of GA that someone here has one of those Nielson boxes. However, I'm 29, and neither I nor anyone my parents ever met has had one of those boxes.

Makes you wonder how accurate those ratings are.

I just bought the dvd. I've been meaning to buy the season 1 DVDs because I just can't dive in to the show a few seasons behind. I hear it's a great show and my friends have been bugging me to watch it.

Same here, I live in Germany and I can't imagine this show airing here any time soon.
Therefore, I have imported season one on DVD and have to swim (among other water bodies through a torrent) each sunday to America to catch the latest episode.

Oh and when Angel was cancelled and people wanted to complain about it, the makers of the show said people should send postcards to theWB showing their love. Guess they're easily noticed (I realise Angel didn't get back on air, but that one really had already been cancelled).

When the show was thought to be cancelled, some of the message board reactions were hilarious. Some guy was urging everyone to call Fox and leave obscenity-filled angry rants on their answering service. He wanted people to call over and over again, but each time you were supposed to pretend to be someone of a different race, age, or gender. So you know, that way Fox would know that that the show appeals to a very broad demographic :lol

I get a kick out of picturing some fat white guy screaming into the phone, pretending to be a Pakistani woman disappointed in the show's status....then he hangs up and calls back as a 10 year old black boy. I doubt Fox listens to or keeps any of those recordings but man, that would make a great extra on the next set of DVDs.
