I can't do it right now, so maybe someone else here could, but for those too lazy to browse AD's site, could anyone compile a short description of each character for newcomers? That's the whole reason I made this thread, to get new people into it (and reward the people who already watch it), so it'd be cool if someone could sum up who George Michael or GOB are (in relation to the family/story), and a few little things about their character (ie GOB is a magician and often does the chicken dance in order to mock others, etc).

That'd be cool if possible.
No problem!

Mild spoilers ahead, but nothing that doesn't come up in nearly every episode.

1q3j1v

The only member of the Bluth family who ever amounted to anything, Michael is a widower and the on-again, off-again president of the Bluth company after his father is thrown in jail. Son of George Sr. and Lucille Bluth. Brother of GOB, Lindsay, and Buster Bluth. George Michael is his son.

1q3ith

Michael's son. Surprisingly normal and well-adjusted, save for the crush on his cousin Maeby. Thankfully, since dating Egg his fantasies have subsided. I mean Ann. Yeah.

ANN: Not pictured.

1q3iw5

The eldest Bluth child, GOB is a magician. Well, he was. A bad one. Now he basically just exercises horrible judgment in every possible situation, with hilarious results.

1q3hj5

Buster is the youngest Bluth child mentally and physically. He's perhaps the biggest mama's boy since the invention of the term, and really sees no problem with that. Unless Lucille crosses him... Loves juice. Hates Anyong. Currently in the Army.

1q3jux

Lucille Ostero, AKA Lucille II. Has vertigo, which makes everyday tasks extremely difficult for her. Best friends with Lucille, but their relationship is very catty. At least from Lucille I's perspective. Some would say they're archenemies. Buster's girlfriend, which causes as many problems as you'd imagine it would.

1q3hhc

Anyong Bluth is the adopted Korean child of Lucielle Bluth; given a home just to make Buster jealous. His name isn't actually Anyong... that just means "Hello" in Korean.

1q3ix0

Daughter of Lucille and George Bluth Sr., married to Tobias Funke. Extremely materialistic woman, the paragon of fashion and causes (and fasion causes) in her own mind. Causes only because she feels the need to prove her worth to her family at every possible moment. Hates her husband yet stays married to him to spite her father. They're swingers now, too!

1q3j2t

Husband of Lindsay, father of Maeby. Possibly gay. Tobias was a fairly well known doctor once, but has since given it up to pursue his current (and fleeting) love, acting. His claim to fame? Inmate #2. He's a never-nude, which is exactly what it sounds like.

1q3j1d

Daughter of Tobias and Lindsay, Maeby is a shyster. Her parents are too self-absorbed to care about her, so she makes trouble. Constantly. Has a twin (not really). Oblivious to Geroge Michael's advances, but seems to genuinely care about him. When he's helping her, of course.

1q3ixl

The matriarch of the Bluth family... she's pretty much a vindictive drunk. Very needy, very conniving, and very crazy... but more intelligent than she lets on.

1q3iv9

The patriarch of the Bluth family. In jail for a bit, in another cold, dark place currently. Favors Lindsay; hates GOB, but is a loving father when it suits him. Likes to teach lessons, play his children off of each other and generally cause problems. Hence the jail thing. The SEC caught up!

1q3j3k

Oscar Bluth: George's twin brother. Has long hair, thus making him a hippy. Naturally. Has issues with the police, or at least they have an issue with him. Might be the father of one of the Bluth children; has a thing for Lucille that she sometimes reciprocates.

Pictures are from The Balboa Observer-Picayune... the best AD fansite on the net. http://www.the-op.com

EDIT: Beaten. Oh well... the more AD love, the better!

I guess I'll be downloading the episode and answering the question for a free tag, LOL KIDDING

I actually haven't seen this show so I guess I'll record it on Tivo. I still got my free tag from the Leguna Halo 2 match that I havent used up anyhow

YAH, I'LL GO HOT TUBBING WITH YOU, I DON'T HAVE A HUSBAND!

I CALL IT SINGLES CITY

SWING CITY

FUCK CITY

COME ON!

I have been meaning to watch this show but I never knew when it was on. I'll give it a view tonight and see what I think. What is this show most like?

its a comedy with great writing and loveable characters that grow on you instantly and camera work that is similar to all the reality/real life tv shows like real world and what not.

Also, its narrarated by Ron Howard....you know, the same guy who narrarated wonder years.

Do not base the show on tonight.
There was a ton of slapstick, its usually a lot better Martin Short's character was awful. I guess this is what happens when they try and further the plot along.

If that was a joke, I missed it. The Wonder Years was narrated by Daniel Stern.

And Mike, you're welcome.

shit, they sound hella similar to me! :lol

guess its nostalgia fuckin with me....i should have been like the ELITIST NERDS AND GOTO IMDB TO MAKE SURE....SHIT

Huh. So that's what the moderator options look like.

By the way, I absolutely love this show. I think the problem is that Fox forgot the show was actually airing on their network, and now that it's becoming something of a small hit they realized that they had to cancel it.

Mike is probably too busy watching the show to notice, but I will cover with spoiler tags to be safe.

The gay innuendo with Michael and Tobias was hilarious. They should keep doing that for a few episodes. Also, Buster's army training came back! That was a cool surprise. Hopefully there is more of Maebe and George Michael next episode.

The show just finished airing, so feel free to discuss it openly without spoilers.

THE QUESTION TO GET YOUR FREE TAG IS THIS!

Decades earlier, Martin Short's character was one half of a radio show duo. The anti-nazi show was quite successful until it got cancelled because the lead radio host was revealed to be a:

____ ___________

All you have to do is enter those two words. So please put the answer first and your tag in a seperate paragraph, ala:

lesbian activist (this is where the answer goes, though that is not the correct answer)

Get out of my dreams and into my tag (this is where you put your tag)

I'm going to go watch Family Guy now, so unless there isn't a large flood of requests, only the first 40 or so people who request a tag will get one.

Hmmm. It was all right. I'll watch next week to see if it was just a dud episode. There were definitely a few funny moments, but a lot of it fell kind of flat. I'm intrigued though. So is this show supposed to be cancelled soon, or something like that?

Maeby: My dad says "thank you for the wonderful package." I don't want to know what that means.
Michael: Oh God, I just screwed my brother in law!
Maeby: Well I guess I'm all grown up now.

I actually have always found the show to be hilarious, but am surprised to see it still on. Distrust of FOX, or my fellow man...?

I dunno, I thought the show was great. Short's humor is always on and off, but the rest of the cast was on the money. The moment that sold me on the episode:

Buster = Solid Snake. The CQC tactics, and then cutting his way out the window
:lol :lol

Awesome thread - now all we have to is get some Nielsen boxes. I wonder if there are Nielsen families in Canada.

Hey, so I'm kinda greedy, if I PM you the answer can I get an IOU on tag change to be used at a future date?

I don't suppose they do, but do networks take into any consideration how a show does on Tivo? I mean, Tivo tracks the ratings people assign the show and season passes scheduled, do they do that for any particular reason? Or is it just information for the sake of having information.

Strangely enough, we have our own defacto company for that:

The Bureau of Broadcast Measurement (BBM). There's no monopoly on this sort of thing, but BBM appears to have the most history behind it.

EDIT: Actually, this page describes how it works - BBM for sweeps, Nielsen Media research for the rest of the year. Weird.

I absolutely love that chicken dance by GOB. Cracks me up everytime.

And I've got something to confess. I bought the Season 1 DVD because of all the posts here praising AD. I usually never buy into hype from others but man, am I ever glad I did. AD is by far the funniest show on TV these days. Thanks GAF!

Some of the answers I've gotten so far:

Nazi sympathizer
********* sympathies
anti-semite
Answer: LOL, I really don't remember. But I did watch. During that part, there was a black and white old style montage explaining the story. It's on the tip of my tongue and pissng me off.

Okay guys, I've gone through the first round on PM's, I'll finish off the rest after I get back from dinner.

Not the best episode to judge AD on because most episodes are nothing like this one. I have watched the show from day one and I think it took until the 3rd episode for me to understand why it is the best show ever.

I highly recommend you buy the season one dvd (no one I know has been disappointed in it yet) and download season two (not sure if the first episodes will still be up). The best thing about this show is it never seems to get old. I have gone through season one 3 times and I still laugh my ass off at it.

"What's Kama Sutra oil?"" :lol

Paraphrasing, but:

:lol

I had to work tonight and couldnt catch it, but as one of the earliest vocal supporters of the show from its very beginning, I think I deserve a tag!

What is the answer? It's still pissing me off that I can't remember. I was trying to clean my room and watch at the same time during that part and I must not have caught it. It's gonna bug me now.

I was hoping the question would be easy, like what substance did the characters at the beginning keep slipping on or something.

Anyway, pretty funny show. I think I'd probably want to start from the beginning though, cuz I can tell there's a lot I'm not getting.

Contest over! The correct answer was: Communist Sympathizer

I still found it funny that after I posted example's of wrong answers, people STILL sent 'Nazi Sympathizer' as their answer. I accepted all of those anyway, since that's close enough.
