Kind of a lackluster episode. But the
dual chicken dance
was spectacular!

Lindsay redeemed that gag for me.

Like I mentioned earlier, I was fuckin sick of it, but seeing her start it, then do it together with Gob had my sides hurting. :lol

Not enough George Michael.

I still say S1 was more consistently funny and has the better storylines (as in George Sr. being in prison vs. in the attic).

I thought the same thing until I rewatched all of season one and two. They are really about on par with each other imho, and both have had their moments (both up and down). It is weird though, some of the shows that I think are average, become some of the funniest upon repeat viewings.

I don't care what anyones says though, this is the best sitcom I have seen since Seinfeld, and it is much better than the first 1.5 seasons of Seinfeld. That doesn't say much because Seinfeld became 1000x better after a few seasons, but it is encouraging. :D

I've barely seen any Seinfeld, so I couldn't comment on that.

Perhaps I'm not remembering right, I'll have to go back and watch it (I'll get the DVD set soon). I do know that a few times S1 had me laughing until I cried or almost died of a stitch, which S2 hasn't managed yet. It could still though, there are 8 episodes left.

Well to each his own. The only thing I found S2 to be missing were George Michael's crush on his cousin (that always made me die), their mother being more of a bitch (also made me die), and their dad in prison. Oh yeah, and no Kitty hurts too. :D

This was more then made up though in Buster's army training (you didn't die of laughter for Gob's motivational techniques or Buster's "army awards?), seemingly more of a focus on Gob (CMON!, I call it **** city!), and of course ICE! Ann is definitely not as funny or as repulsive as Kitty though, hopefully they can remedy that (though the singing thing was hilarious).

Still, to me it is just as great as the first season. :D

Ann's good for the jokes about her, less for her time on screen. Ice sucks.

Gob's had the biggest improvement this season. While he was good last season with his magician stuff, this year his taking over as president has led to some great gags.

I miss things like Carl Weathers being a tight arsed bastard :lol

All the things you mention are funny, but I just didn't find them as funny. A couple of the scenes from S1 that got me:

- Buster is trying to move away from his mother. All the siblings are sitting round insulting her, Buster joins in and gets out of control, and you can just see him ranting with an almost constant bleeping noise, as the others look on in horror.

- Gob and Tobias are setting up Gobias Industries to get some money out of Michael. They're in a coffee bar commenting on how busy it is and how they can't hear themselves think, then come up with some stupid idea completely unrelated to coffee. As they're leaving, Michael runs into them and when they say they have a great idea, he thinks they're talking about coffee bars. Ron Howard kicks in and says that, not wanting to ruin their chance, they try to leave coolly like that's what they meant, but they both have their heads down and act suspicious as hell.

- Michael hands out whistles to the board members for when they see something wrong. They won't stop whistling. Quick cut to him counting them clearly having taken them back.

Michael: Okay, there’s still three whistles left out there. Who’s got the whistles?

Blows whistle.

Board Member #1: He kept one.

Michael: There’s a good example of whistle blowing, okay, but you’ve kept yours, so it’s hurting your case.

Board Member #1: I was in the bathroom when you asked for it back.

Whistle blows.

Board Member #2: No, he wasn’t.

In fact, those last two are both from Whistler's Mother, possibly the best episode ever.

- George Sr.: I haven't had sex in a month.

Michael: You know, you've been here two months.

(Pause)

George Sr.: It's hard to gauge time-

Michael: Yeah, I'll bet.

Sorry for those I couldn't quote and probably ruined by overexplaining. It's hard to find transcripts.

i love futurama...but if any tv show needed to be saved....its Freaks and geeks.

Paul Feig directs Arrested Development and wrote much of Freaks and Geeks.

Coincidence? I think not.

Contest over! The correct answer was: Communist Sympathizer

I still found it funny that after I posted example's of wrong answers, people STILL sent 'Nazi Sympathizer' as their answer. I accepted all of those anyway, since that's close enough.

Damnit just saw this. Have mercy!

Yeah I didnt see this thread either cuz I WAS BUSY WATCHING THE SHOW!

Martin Short was somewhat annoying last night . But eveything was hilarious as usual. Needed some Barry Zuckercorn though,

I missed the first few minutes of the show, was Martin Short the gimp guy who had to have a big dude carry him around? It was fucking hilarious listening to Tobias and the tape recorder. 'Tobias, you blowhard!'. :lol

Best moment of the year, when Tobias got run over by that lawyers car and the doctor was like 'Looks like he's dead', and everyone was like 'omg'. Then he's like 'no he's fine, its just all that blue makes it look like he's dead'. :lol

Throw me a bone Mike, I watch the show about 90% of the time, just get the homosexual tag out of my name - all I ask. :)

Gob: Yeah, the guy in the $3,000 suit is holding the elevator for the guy who doesn't make that in four months. COME ON!

Gob owns

:lol
When he and Buster were running around looking for Lucille 2, the music that played whenever Buster knocked someone out had me crying with laughter.

This show just can't be cancelled.

The funniest scene:

Child Buster throwing the dust buster at the bus with the commentary.

"Buster threw what he thought was her favorite toy at what he thought was her car"

Oh my god!

This one was hillarious. Dual Chicken Dance had me laughing for like 5 minutes.

Commando Buster rocked too. Just generally awesome!

EDIT - I don't need any tag. My love for Arrested Development doesn't need to be bought. It earned it by episode 3 (and continued to get better).

I think the best moment of season 2 for me is summed up in 3 words:

"Those are balls!"

I'm stealing it for a few days. Let me know if this upsets you

Go ahead...it's over 120k, though :) (I posted it for whoever wanted it...and whoever wanted to scale it down :p)

I think Season 2 is going off in a different direction then Season 1; not better or worse (can't judge yet) but it's definitely up to snuff IMO. A couple things that I do miss from season 1 are Gob's magic, which he's only done a little bit this season, George Michael and his crush on Maeby, and George Sr.'s jail stuff. Also, since George Sr.'s not in jail anymore, Winkler's character hasn't been on as much, which sucks because I LOVE his character.

I do like in this season Tobias's ever-present double entendres, Gob being in charge, and Buster in the army is great. I also really like the Anne jokes.

Michael: I need a new car dad, I drive stairs for crying out loud. I'm getting hop ons, and worst of all, my son doesn't like being seen in it.

George (cracking up): But he likes being seen with that... girl?

i have nothing to contribute, other than that I am disppointed in the ratings for last night's episode.

"OH HONEY, SCREW ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT. I'D RATHER WATCH A FUCKING RERUN OF LAW AND ORDER"

unacceptable

Where do you guys usually go to look at the TV network ratings? Zap2It has summaries, and this time around they don't seem to have specific numbers for Arrested Development.

From what they say though, it's not doing any better though.

Second to the Simpson's isn't bad I'd say.

Except that network executives look at it as, "Arrested Development lost 2 million viewers of the Simpsons [its lead-in]."
