Watch_Dogs downgradeaton confirmed

Apparently, IGN Germany deleted an article on the Watch Dogs downgrade, titled "Watch_Dogs: Ist das wirklich Next-Gen?" (translation: "Is that really next-gen?").

This is from the Google Cache:

It now leads to an error page: http://de.ign.com/news/22559/watch-dogs-ist-das-wirklich-next-gen

Or, if you don't trust the link and want to get to the page yourself, the link to the article is still being displayed at Google: https://www.google.de/#q=Watch+Dogs:+Ist+das+wirklich+Next-Gen?

No wonder almost no preview mentions the graphics. Like at all.

It's incredible that an out of context gif that probably isn't representative of the game can generate a 75 page thread. This is the gaf equivalent of Twitch plays pokemon, from the standpoint of something terrible and meaningless generating a ton of excitement and activity.

Nope. Think or it more of an acknowledgement that you'll all be going around in circles about the same stretched JPEG or compressed GIF until we release more footage (or indeed the game :D).
Why not interfere then? You can't be happy about this situation. Also, maybe you can tell us something about the Broll? Aren't there current-gen clips mixed in, or are there?
Please don't disappoint me yet again. :p

Edit: I'm trying to keep up with the thread, but at this rate it's impossible. Just now I reached the previously last page aka page 62 and now we're already at 76!!

The trick is to get accused of every bias in the book and then work all the angles for $$$ at once.

I want to make this very clear to all the companies out there browsing GAF that have heard rumors that I have too much integrity so sell out: Steve Youngblood is for sale. Feel free to shoot me a line to at my Google® Gmail® account, or call me on my iPhone® iPhone® that's running on AT&T's® phenomenal cellular infrastructure. Whatever it is that you're pitching, I want to hear about it.

Did you bother to watch the trailers or the other gifs from the trailers people have been posting? Not to mention that comes from a gameplay section in a video. How about not assuming we're all still raging over a GIF?

what if the whole plot is aiden trying to get out of chicago, he uses all the hacks because the city is trying to prevent him from leaving

the last scene is him in the airport getting on a flight to los santos

There was a stream? How did it look?
they showed nothing new. because... well, depends on what you want to believe. they didn't address the specific complaints either, because... well...

it certainly is looking more and more and more illogical to presume there haven't been downgrades. it would have been very simple for them to address them head on, if indeed the only reason people got the impression there were downgrades was because they cut together a trailer that somehow missed all the WOW that was actually still in the game.

if that was true, you'd say it, even if you didn't have footage to prove it (which, naturally you would have). they didn't. they just hid behind 'people that have played the game think it looks good!'.

because it's been downgraded. that's the logical conclusion.

But.. But,. Is there any hope left that the PC version (maxed out) will look as good as the first E3 gameplay we saw? Why do they do this? Build up a graphics hype only to make people disappointed when the game is out?

Far Cry 3 had super gorgeous graphics.

One of the best looking games ever made.

Don't make me post the screenshots.

doesn't change the fact that Ubisoft's first video of the game didn't represent the final product.

downgrade doesn't mean 'is bad graffix now'. it means, the graphics are not as good as we were originally let to believe. they could still be great.

Man this cant come to Wii U soon enough.

So excited. Theyre really taking their time with it too so that means it's gonna be awesome.

The only thing that disappoints me is lack of blood spatter when Aiden shoots a dude in the face.

I saw him do a quick kill in the trailer and he shot a security guard in the face with an assault rifle from three inches away. Dude just dropped.

I wanna non-lethally take people down by shooting them in the knees. I want body parts to be realistically torn apart by gunfire. I want blood to drench the screen.

Can somebody tell me happend in the last few hours? Why is everybody posting money gifs? Who is moondizzle?

- Twitch Stream was promised so Ubi could answer questions
- When they discussed the graphics complaint they didn't answer the question, just side stepped it saying "trust the previews" and "ps4 graphics look good". Never answered whether they were downgraded
- All questions seemed to have been pre screened/fake, and were fairly boring questions so they could talk for 20 minutes over absolutely nothing.
- Moondizzle was a user who kept insulting NeoGAF. He called us NintendoGAF, MicrosoftGAF, and said we were all just jealous it looked good on ps4 or some shit. Point is he later suggested he was a member who was banned. We were all laughing at the stuff he posted since it basically revolved around him insulting GAF and him pleading Ubi to show gameplay so GAF could be proven wrong
-He called Nirolak looser idiot who was bought by MS. So then mods started posting money gifs and money related comments.

Did Raymond do the promo for Blacklist? Jokes aside, she is a pretty woman who's confident on camera, she seems like the obvious choice for promotion stuff, but I don't remember her being interviewed for it.

Now the game has emerged, I take it we'll see the guy with intense feeling towards his phone again. As stupid as it is, there is something about associating a game with the face of the project, for example, with how irritating Randy Pitchford is, I'd find it hard buying a Gearbox game at this point I think.

Yea I am confused as well.

I want to know me too. I haven't seen Ubi streaming.

And this is how they addressed the visual downgrade in the stream:

"This asset (the trailer) has been created to convey the context of the game. It's something the fans wanted. In terms of graphic quality, I invite anyone to read the impressions of the journalist and it's pretty positive. We're in debug mode and we're fixing little things, the graphics are at no risk at all. I don't know why anyone thinks this." - approximate quote from the interview just now.

PR footage for games very regularly cuts blood effects. that's one thing I would advise against thinking represents the final product. numerous games showed no blood in trailers and b rolls and what have you that had plenty. recently Tomb Raider DE was thought by some to have been censored for blood, based on press shots. naturally it hadn't been.

I find it comical that Kotaku of all gaming sites hasn't posted an article talking about this. You would think the site with the founded principle of "if it's click-bait we post it" would have posted something about it by now.

Which leads me to believe Ubisoft has been asking sites to not post it. My evidence? Nirolak being paid.

They're talking about the Gamespot video and posting jifs from gaf.. what the heck.
