Watch_Dogs |OT| PS4 would probably melt trying to do this

Evading cops and the combat in the game in the single player is probably my favorite part of the game right now.

Just read an article on Yahoo on the game (pick up my copy after work today) and it was a top 10 things to know before getting into the game. One of them was that cops are basically impossible to get rid of except to either let them kill you or drive into water and then swim away since NPC's don't get boats. So his item was to just stay clear of cops at all costs.

But you say evading cops is a good/fun part of the game. Guessing he's just an lol-yahoo reporter who doesn't know what he's doing?

What are other poeples thoughts on cops and evading them?

So, we have both the XB1 and PS4 versions in the house. PC is obviously the best, but I won't buy a third copy - should I play the PS4 version?

I just got off the phone with them. The guy told me that the order with be in the processing sage forever since Origin flagged the transaction a fraudulent. He offered me a 15% off voucher but said it won't be active until 30 after the game's release :/. Sigh, should I buy the game through Steam or U-Play?

I bought the deluxe edition off of Origin's Mexico site for $45 (was the cheapest place), using the same credit card and Hola proxy Firefox plugin that I'd used on the India purchase. No credit card problems at all (probably because the game has been released at this point). If you do this, I would recommend just entering the registration code that you'll see on Origin into Uplay - the latter's download speeds are much faster.

does anyone have a list of the music used as the soundtrack for this game? watching the giantbomb quicklook and i thought I recognized a track on the radio.

It is hard and on long highways without any hacking possibility you are at a serious disadvantage. I feel that the zone you have to leave to shake the cops is a bit too big. Basicly you have to let the cops get right behind you, hack a traffic light and then drive until cool-down mode then stay hidden somehwere off the road in your car.

I would say my ability to shake the cops is 50:50.

Ugh, reading all these impressions have upped by hype meter by a factor of 10. I'm stuck here at work for another 5 hours. Going to be a long 5 hours.

A quick question about the driving: I'm someone who couldn't handle GTAIV because I just flat out hated the driving (I was absolutely terrible at it). Am I going to have a similar problem here?

It rocks. Especially in the cockpit view. Love this in an open world game.

How can they have a cockpit view and not let you free-look inside? How the fuck am I supposed to see if there's traffic anywhere around me? I guess it's to prevent having to make 100 different inside car-assets, but still.

Some of the design choices in this game boggle the mind.

It takes getting used to, but some cars just have shit handling period.

But doesn't that make you appreciate/value the good handling cars. I think that can be kinda cool, you are in a hurry and jump in some basic civilian car and can't do performance maneuvers. I haven't driven a car in game yet so I don't really know. Just doesn't seem like an automatic bad thing for some cars to control poorly

Don't worry, Gaz. I got your back. I like it too.

Thanks for the bullets you left near the Jospeph Dimarco art gallery hotspot, you cheapskate.

I dropped 250 bucks and all I get are some lousy bullets and 5 meds.

Played for a few hours, really digging it so far.

I really like how every NPC and enemy has unique personal info, changes up the fights a bit when you find out a thug has terminal cancer or calls his grandma everyday. Combat is a lot of fun and the stealth works well.

The graphics are fine, feel pretty close to Second Son's. I think the world is better than Infamous, feels way more alive. Driving is a little weird but it's a hell of a lot better than GTA IV, ill probably get use to it after a while.

Overall it's a really solid game, don't really have many complaints right now.

Started with about 75% downloaded on PS4 and game just cut to an installation popup without warning about 20 minutes in. Going slowly, looks like it won't be playable until it's 100%. Anyone else get that?

I don't even know what that is... Do i want to know?

Was thinking the same. AC2 was the best one for me. And the next WatchDogs will be current gen only.

Agreed on WD2, presumably WD will sell well enough to make the sequel bigger and better. And if you really need to know what yiffing is:
jackin' it to furry porn.

Same here. I couldn't finish it because of this. How does the driving compare to GTA IV? All I've really seen of it is GiantBomb's quicklook and it looked troubling.

Not saying it's a bad thing. I was agreeing that the handling is fine once you get used to it, but that there are some cars that will make you look like a student driver.

The initial load only takes you until the point you leave the stadium. Once you hit the open-world, you need the full game.

Five hours in, and continually surprised by fun little things to do and explore like Privacy intrusions and random crimes. I'm rocking the Rustic coat, feeling like a boss!

But it can't be understated- the driving in this game is joyless. There's no weight to anything, and there's little sense of speed unless you're on a bike. I don't know - it just feels off to me. I haven't really appreciated the differences in car handling because the mechanics aren't vibing with me. I guess I got too used to taking GTA driving for granted- this feels akin to the driving in Saints Row 3 but with less arcadey responsiveness. Not a fan at all.

But I'm enjoying it heartily on foot!

Anybody buy this from Futureshop receive the game today? I swear every game I bought during the E3 deals never make it on release day. In getting super annoyed with this company.

Hard to say. The driving in WD is shit in a completely different way to GTA IV. I'd say it's probably easier to adjust to than IV but that doesn't make it any better.

Are there various difficulty levels to choose from or is it a flat experience like AC?

Also people are praising the stealth in this game. Is it real, proper stealth (like older Splinter Cell) or is it more scripted and plastic like AC?

I'm not sure what its for, but if you press alt+f8 (or maybe just f8?)
The on foot controls turn into top down GTA mode.
Left/right on the joystick turn your guy in circles and up runs forward regardless of the camera orientation.

Why?

4 difficulties, Realistic being the hardest mode

I kind of had a feeling that it would be a good idea to not hide the fact that I purchased the game through India considering there is nothing in there terms against it and It worked in my favor. I explained confidently that I purchased the game via the origin India store because it was on sale and that my credit card contacted me to confirm that it wasnt a fraudulent change. I told them I authorized the charge but that they told me to call the merchant and have the charge reprocessed. The rep didn't give me any problems because I didn't give him any surprises. U have to act like what u did was 100 % legitimate (because it actually is).

I just let it download while I slept, but the first five hours were fantastic. A rookie mistake that plenty of invaders are making is hacking me on foot, not even bothering to hide, where I can easily shoot them and gain notoriety. Surely, NeoGAF would prove a better challenge than some random invaders? :p

I was really worried that Watchdogs was just going to recycle all of the mechanics of their other series. From the reviews, this seems to be exactly what has happened. I get that Ubi has a tried and true formula, and the first time I experienced (Far Cry 3) I couldn't put the game down. But I was really hoping for something new, that the game mechanics woudl be more evolved. I understand the need to move copies and Far Cry, Assassin's Creed, etc do just that. But hopefully there will be some innovation to these open world type games that can move the genre along.

When do digital foundrys usually come out? I'm guessing mostly everyone that has it is playing the PS4 version. I really want to know how it looks/runs on PS3 before spending $60 on it.
