Watching the GTA 6 trailer again might have the best hair physics I have ever seen.

rockstar is spending like 2 billion for this game lol, im sure they have plenty of resources
In all my years of gaming I've only seen two types of games, and they usually don't crossover:

1)Games that are built around destruction.
2) Games that aren't.

I can't recall the last time that a game appeared ordinary but had surprise building destruction mechanics in it that were never revealed nor shown. It would be nice if GTA 6 would be the first, but I have a high amount of doubt because I feel they probably didn't balance the game's structure around it.

No game in the gta saga (or red dead) has cinematics that don't look as good as the game. Also no trailer shown so far of any rockstar game has suffered downgrade.
As much as I love Rockstar and GTA that simply isn't true (since I think you meant no gta ingame graphics that don't look as good as the cinematics and not vice versa since cinematics are expected to be better) . In realtime cutscenes graphics and animation are improved in GTA games. This example of the hair might not be one of them though.

Can't wait for the game's launch and the threads complaining about downgrades vs trailers. When will people ever learn 🤦

Yeah it was crazy how much of an uproar there was when GTA4 and Red Dead Redemption and GTA5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 all came out and everybody online was outraged over the lies & downgrades for those games.

Ahh, yeah those were crazy times. Rockstar those lyin bastards, I tell ya.

no other game so far rivals this hair wise
Nope, the one to beat for now is fifa, i'll wait for actual gta6 gameplay to see if they can maintain this tech for all the npcs on screen.

And these gifs are from 2021-2022 fifa, not even the newest.

Nope. Notice how the hair clips through the back of the player's neck in your top gif? The Fifa hair physics are nice, and look nice for the most part, but they aren't quite as advanced as what we see in the GTA6 trailer. Another thing I've noticed with all the footage I've seen of the new Fifa hair physics - its a bit too bouncy and "over the top" in most cases. Looks very "artificial" if that makes sense.

Check out the gif below, and pay close attention to how the hair behaves on the subject's shoulder towards the end of the gif. Even though the aliasing/fizzle needs to be worked on to clear up the sub-pixel breakup, you can clearly tell that the hair physics in the VI trailer are level above anything else we've seen. The way her hair plays off of her shoulder is simply the most realistic hair has ever behaved in a video game as far as I'm aware. Granted, it is only just a trailer for right now and we should wait to see the final product, but as it stands right now, it's the most physically accurate.

But fifa is an actual product in the market, we don't know if gta6 is gonna maintain this quality for all the npcs in the streets (if it is only for cutscenes and main protagonist then the whole thing become way less impressive).

So FOR NOW the one to beat that you can actually buy and play is definitely fifa, even if not perfect they have by far the best hair tech in the market.

I guess it's a matter of semantics.

R* are masters at their work. Personally I don't like their games but I have to admit that they are technical wizards.

Right, sorry for my dyslexia. It's logical that the animations are better in cinematic because they are... well, cinematic, and they can't use the game's animations for them without it looking crappy.

The hair physics on the other hand I doubt they're manually animated. They'll use whatever physics engine rockstar uses.

I honestly think rockstar is one of the most (if not the most) honest studios when it comes to the expectations generated by their games.

They don't need to be manually animated necessarily. A cutscene has more freed up computing power too for better geometry and simulation. Tommy from Vice City looked completely different between cutscenes and ingame

This is simply untrue, GTA V first trailer used stuff that was taken out

They arent spending 2 BILLION on game development alone. Thats for all the advertising and commecrcials and marketing as well. Also its a he said/she said situation at the moment. Even Star Citizen has not spent more than 600 mil on development and thats like the highest ever spent on a single game. Stop the cap, R* have money, nobody is going to spend 2 billion to make a game.

More importantly, stop making a new GTA 6 yopic every time you have a brain fart. You are getting annoying to the point that you deserve a ban, this isnt facebook where you post your tiniest thoughts after jacking off.

Replay mode…. Not representative of anything really

You were expecting gifs from the playable camera that is super far away?

Of course i'm gonna post the replay where they zoom on players.
I think that poster's point is that those hair simulations may only exist in those replays/close-ups, and not during actual normal gameplay, or at least not at the same fidelity during normal gameplay.

Which, if true, kinda makes it less impressive overall.

That's pretty much exactly the same as if the GTA6 hair physics from the trailer only exist within cutscenes.

Got it, well, does he know if the hair tech is only active in replays or it was just an hunch?

I haven't played fifa in a hot minute.

Oh please cut the crap.
I'ts just laughable to act like they don't upres their shit in the trailers.
I now a lot of you are true Rockstar fanboys but don't act stupid.
So the guy who obviously can't even read properly is telling me to stop acting stupid, welcome to the Internet in 2024, I guess. I'm not a fanboy, but all their trailers are real-time. I just said they don't use CGI trailers, which is 100% true. Of course, that doesn't mean you can't tamper with stuff like graphics settings, lighting, population density, etc. Obviously some things are going to get downgraded, some are probably going to improve. However, I think their past trailers were mostly indicative of the final product.

I'm saying that those hair physics exist solely within a narrow scope (I.e non playable, zoomed in replay mode) where all resources can be dedicated to it.
