Do you think GTA 6 will have a 60 fps mode?

Will GTAVI have a 60 fps mode?

They still have to account for it, lowering the games potential.

have you heard of the Xbox Series S?
the console with ¼ of the GPU power of a Series X? with less memory and smaller memory bandwidth?
and for games that also release on PC... RTX4060 Mobile... the most used GPU on Steam's recent survey...
that GPU better run your game

there's your 60fps mode.
the Series S automatically gives you a 60fps mode for console only multiplat titles that are GPU bound.

but that last part is why I don't believe there's gonna be a 60fps mode... GPU bound... any GPU bound game automatically gets a 60fps ready mode due to the Series S. but with the raytracing they're doing and the NPC masses, I doubt this can run at 60fps on mobile Zen2 CPU cores. so this is probably CPU bound and can't be given a 60fps mode

I'm going to struggle to play 30fps mode. I guess I may get used to it, but on OLED it looks worse.

I'm guessing they will do:

30fps Mode for PS5
60fps PS6 edition (repurchase required)

Like RDR2? :messenger_tears_of_joy:

This game will have a 60fps mode from day 0. They had to make a 60fps mode (released at 30fps) for the first RDR remaster because sales were shit.

the only way it's gonna happen is if the GPU is the limiting factor.

there is never a reason a current gen game can justifiably only have a 30fps mode if it's a GPU limit... and the reason this can never happen is the Series S.

the Series S has worse memory bandwidth and ¼ of the GPU power.
this means you literally ALWAYS can use the Series S settings and run a GPU limited game at 60fps on PS5 and Series X. in fact you can run at higher settings than Series S as you'd only have to free up ½ of the GPU time instead of the ¼ to make it work on the Series S.

with the amount of Raytracing happening here however, I assume their CPU strain will be the limiting factor here.
Absolutely, I can't imagine this running at 60fps simply because the CPU is likely not up for the job. However, if the game is GPU bound, then I assume that graphical settings could be lowered to the point that 60fps is achievable.

Most physics can run on GPU much faster than CPU, despite most games using CPU for faster and easier development. Rockstar have over 1000 developers working in this game. If they want they can do it.

No because of all the details and complexity, it's probably CPU bound to 30fps.

At best you'll get 40fps with some lowered settings, but I don't think Rockstar will bother having a mode for 120Hz/VRR users.

Maybe on the Pro, considered it's 1152p with raytraced GI and reflections on base console, the Pro hardware seems to have enough headroom for an interesting boost.

Expect it to target 30FPS on all current-gen consoles. The PS5 Pro will offer a resolution bump but the framerate will remain at 30FPS.

A 60FPS on consoles is for future next-gen remaster and the PC version.

Lmao no.

Maybe it's gonna have a performance mode where it barely stay in the 40s on the pro but i'm not optimistic at all.

I think pro is just gonna have pssr for better iq and maybe more stable 30 fps, i can already see the base console crawling into the 20s when you cause absolute chaos with missile launchers on the streets and 5 stars wanted state, people forget rdr2 framerate with fire or explosions on screen and gta6 has to render 10x times what that game had on screen.

It's a maybe since it is has to be on the series s. Most likely it will be a no, and they will simply give it 60 fps when next gen comes around.

Absolutely zero chance, this game has so much ray tracing built in. The base consoles have weak CPUs and outdated RDNA2 chips, which is a nightmare for RT implementation.
The PS5 Pro has somewhat better RT performance but still the same weak CPU, so at best it will be a smoother 30fps with better IQ.

ps5pr0 has tiny upclock on the cpu but its still zen2 archi aka below r7 3700x performance, even if u tried to run on the pr0 the game version from base ps5 at dynamic 720p res(so over 2x reduced burden on the gpu) the problem is the weak cpu, 30 to 60fps u need at least 2x cpu power, not just 2x gpu power.

It will depend what Rockstar thinks the game will look like at 60fps on the S i would imagine, if they have to downgrade it too much i don't think it will, they will want it to look it's best imo.

Nah, they will not bother. They will make a PC version later with the remaster for the new consoles. It'll also be a good incentive for people to double-dip.

Not if it looks like the trailer. GTA 5 runs at 60 fps so it's definitely possible for GTA 6 to run at 60 fps as well but why would they put in all that effort when they can sell you a PC or next generation console port that does 60 fps without much effort.

With Rockstar pedigree and techncial skills and Sony's possible help, Im sure both base ps5 and ps5 pro will have 60 fps mode. You can take that to the bank.

The S versions of games regularly cut the 60 FPS mode.

Probably not. If the game had also raster path then maybe (Cyberpunk also does 60 with RT off) but since it will have all its lighting handled via RT, 60 is extremely unlikely. 40, maybe.

having a LG c4 Oled here and literally 30fps is unplayable as i get a headache from it...
so better pray it has a 60fps mode or i will wait 2 years before it comes to pc.

GTA 5 didn't run at 60 fps when first released. It was a miracle the game ran at all on PS3/Xbox.

Guys- just to give u some point of comparision, gta5 so ps360 game, from 2013, didnt even have 60fps mode on ps4pr0/xbox one x, it only got to 60 on pc version(may 2015) and current gen consoles- aka march 2022- over 8,5years later on consoles, 2 gens later.

Wanna play 60fps on console- wait till next xbox/ps6- no other way unless u want devs to cut off all the fluff that makes gta6 look actual nextgen.
