[Wccftech] Sucker Punch creative director “Would love to work on more Infamous”

In a recent interview with GameInformer, where creative directors Nate Fox and Jason Connell were talking all things Ghost of Yotei ahead of the game's October release, Fox was asked if he'd be open to going back to the Infamous games.
"I would love to work on more Infamous," Fox began. "I would love to see a trilogy rerelease, but Sucker Punch is a one game at a time shop, and right now we are very focused on finishing Ghost of Yotei."

Wouldn't mind a re-release of the existing trilogy. But as far as a fourth entry goes, that would probably need either the theoretical re-release blowing up or the upcoming Yotei game underdelivering.

Nah, let it die.

Sony studios have been good about leaving franchises behind and starting new ones. If they were still making Spyro, Sly Cooper, Crash and jak and Daxter, we would not have KZ, uncharted, TLOU, Horizon, Infamous and Ghost.

Those three games were good, but now its time to move on and create something new.

I would love for them to work on more Infamous also....

If any series was ripe for a remaster/remake. So many modern gamers missed out on this one.

If they do make InFAMOUS I hope they just focus on one power and fully develop that power.

One of my biggest issues in InFAMOUS Second Son was you had multiple powers but it felt each was color pallet swaps rather than each fully developed.

This becomes very obvious when you get First Light DLC and see Fetch's Neon power felt better than all Delsin powers put together.

Would love more Infamous. Those were some kickass games

Totally agree. It's one of the special things that sets Playstation apart from Nintendo and Xbox.

It's a shame to be honest because the foundations Second Son and First Light had were very solid.

Both ultimately fell like tech demos though. Great visually and gameplay wise but the story was short and lacking, side content was atrocious and the open world was tiny and extremely lifeless.

If only they continued with what they had, they could have actually ended up creating a killer superhero game.

I'd love a more comic book style aesthetic for a sequel. More interaction with the world for better sandbox gameplay as well. We've been away from the series long enough to do something new and as good as GoT is (and GoY will likely be), that format just feels tired from all the other games doing it.

Better idea: Bring in newly purchased studios to work on older, established franchises, and older studios take the reigns on new I.P., like Sony did with Sackboy PS5, Jak: Lost Frontier, Killzone: Mercenary, God of War: Chains of Olympus, Uncharted Vita, etc.

All games and studios that had potential for further growth but under a safe umbrella of established I.P.

I think Second Son deserves another follow up because they managed a big leap there. But I found the first two games janky and more of a Saints Row type of IP (not nuSaints).

I dont think it's a particularly strong IP and based on the Ghost franchise SP have outgrown this now I think.

If it returned, I definitely would want to go back to Cole MacGrath. Was a more interesting character and better story, imo. Side content was pretty much nothing, but random shit happening on the street and repetitive activities. Lots of room for improvement, but even as they were, they had more grit to them than what Spider-man became.

WHOA!!!!................that's actually a smart idea. That'd want to keep the budget low though.

Yes!

Only thing I actually want is a trilogy re-release so the first two aren't stuck on PS3, and ideally also come on PC.

I could go for another one too I guess, but I'm fine with them doing a new IP as well. Just use another dev to port the old games, while they work on something else.

I like all three Infamous games but I think I'm good. After Yotei I think I'd want to see a new IP (or a return to Sly Cooper, but that seems very unlikely to me)

I would be ok with it, but I'd prefer instead Ghost of Tsushima 2 with Jin Sakai as (the only) protagonist. But well, they could also grow the team to have 3 tracks and work at the same time in:
  • Ghost of Tsushima 2
  • New Infamous (redesigned Cole as protatonist)
  • New IP (bring back that new IP that got reworked to end being GoT, further differentiating it more from GoT)

Yeah, but how about some backwards compatibility for those old franchises??

THIS SO FUCKING HARD!!!!

As a PS gamer, I WANT a new Colony Wars, KZ, WarHawk, InFamous and Resistance game. I don't necessarily NEED the original devs working on them, though. Let the OG devs stretch their legs with new IP, and let Sony's less prominent newer dev studios develop their teams and production pipelines making less risky games from the back catalogue.

I would mug a fucking granny to buy all these games. That's how much I want to see these franchises come back.

Surely you're shitting me as every single one of those abandoned games were orders of magnitude better than their follow ups.

don't need new one really, the old game ages pretty well beside the first game, just some basic QoL and get a competent studios to port it to modern hardwares like PS5 and PC. Would love to replay them in 4K, ultrawide, unlock frame rate, HDR, atmos, full haptic feedback support. They don't need to do it in house neither. There are alot of collections of PS3 IP Sony could have done than pissing money on GAAS

Having a Sony studio making more Infamous, instead of GaaS would be one hell of an improvement for us gamers.
And more profitable for Sony as well.

Better keep a low-profile bub and pray that Yotei gets a better reception at launch than it has now. Lest you meet the same fate as Insomniac and end up on Marvel slop duty until the end of time. I love GoT and Sucker Punch, but the outlook is bleak given what we've seen from Yotei (in terms of reception. I think it looks fine). I'm thinking Sony will be pretty quick on the draw from here out.

Today, 7/18/25, an office building full of college educated adults all got paid to continue development of Fairgame$. That bill is not going to pay itself. Insomniac could start training your guys on the engine and the creatives can start storyboarding Spider-Girl missions.

Loved Infamous btw. Does not need a modern sequel though. Everyone needs to stop doing sequels. I'd love to see a year of gaming with zero sequels or remakes.

No fuckin' thank you.

Anything Sucker Punch does is anything but what Sony needs right now or ever, cuz their games are boring and mediocre at best and I can't comprehend how they're still alive after so many years. I wish they'd gave all the funding to Housemarque instead, maybe they could've opened more studios to make more games instead of one per 5-6 years.

This is actually a solid idea and a way to get a new spin on existing IPs by letting studios put their own spin on it.

Would definitely love a new inFamous, the first one and Second Son were awesome. Never played the second. I wonder if they feel like it's unnecessary since Insomniac is full-time on Marvel duty these days

IMO if they have some fresh gameplay ideas and direction for the franchise then I'm all for it. But a sequel for a sequel's sake - no.

Personally I think they should have done an infamous and then ghost of yotei.

Sony need to give there franchises a break for a bit so people don't become too fatigued.
