How can you not love what's happening with the current Sony and Bungie? I just love it. It'll teach em a lesson for the rest of their lives.
What I hope the actual lesson will be: Don't overvalue the potential purchases of multiplayer studios. How can you not love what's happening with the current Sony and Bungie? I just love it. It'll teach em a lesson for the rest of their lives.

I can't understand the hate and negativity surrounding this game. I hope they can counter the hate and perception surrounding Marathon, because I don't think the game itself has as many problems as people think. Even with stolen art issue -a problem absolutlely fixable and less serious than people people believe or would like-, the art direction is the best of the generation by a mile. Good luck to the new director.
Marathon is COOKED!
The game needs another year in the oven with big changes like that.
Just cancel it already.
They won't because it will tank their stock with 2 big cancellations making seem Sony doesn't know what they are doing.
Sony will do whatever they can to get Marathon out the door this year.
It's one of the main games they're depending on for income growth.

Sony's PlayStation Division Recorded Strong Growth, but the Outlook Remains Cautious
PlayStation continues to generate more revenue and operating income for Sony than any other division, with operating profit up by 43 per cent. However, Sony remains cautious and expects a decline in sales, although new games are expected to boost operating profit.www.gamesmarket.global
They should cancel it and do a mea culpa with this gaas bullshit... assume you fucked up, ask forgiveness from every retard that bought their Pro console (me included) and promise to do better in the future.Just cancel it already.

The good old times when games were made by nerd man for nerd man ..Pic doesn't tell the whole story. Do an image search. Pretty girl, but clearly a late bloomer. Probably had a middling time in high school at best. There's usually a certain amount is misanthropic salt in these types. Proceed with caution.
But, this will clearly save the game. We wanted the OG Bungie pedigree, and I can't think of anything better for that than Julia Nardin.
Also found this. Sorry to say it lads, but she's a mall witch. Clearly looks just like the Marathon art style on the website, so it's a perfect fit to design the look of a game targeted to young men. https://www.cafenordo.com/nordo-blog/2022/julia-spiritparlour
Honestly, I'd say 1.5-2 years.
My big takeaways are
- Completely redo the art direction. Make it look like classic marathon, but modern. I still don't know why they even want to call it Marathon
- Build a single player mode so that even if the game isn't a big live service hit, you still have people come to it
- Rebalance the game so it can be played in singles, duos, and trios and not just trios
- Set up a new alpha once the changes have been made to multiplayer and get feedback on gameplay and tension
Oh, I know where the hate comes from. From the same place of people cheering up every new publisher acquisition by Microsoft. Its pure console warring.- Graphic looks last gen, unfinished, bland, lazy
- Ugly character design
- Strays from the original IP
Its not that hard to understand the negativity towards the game.
Word about town is that the paid advertising was pulled so they can scrub the entire game, all promotional materials, and any game-related assets for copyrighted materials they don't have the rights for. Given that, in effective, Marathon's visual identify was basically lifted without permission, I expect this process to take a while. In the meantime, until Sony and Bungie have to figured out what they can legally sell, I wouldn't expect trailers, social media posts, or anything that visually presents Marathon from either Sony or Bungie. Period.Which makes its complete absence from their last big state of play (probably) before it releases all the puzzling.

BOYS WE MIGHT BE OKAY.
Oh, I know where the hate comes from. From the same place of people cheering up every new publisher acquisition by Microsoft. Its pure console warring.
The things you mentioned are pure subjectives, don't you think? Ugly characters? Last gen graphics? You see? In my opinion graphics and characters are fine and vibes and art direction are superb.
"Unfinished"? A GAAS that hasn't come out yet? C'mon.
About the IP. Its theirs. They can do wherever they want to do with it. Nobody remembers a discontinued almost 30 years old IP.
No it won't… Have you not seen what's happened to the comic book industry??? Have you not seen what's going on with Disney??? They are going to triple down on the problems and no the problem isn't GAAS…. Where is the Wolverine game with the Spiderman wall crawling animations? Where is the Horizon Multiplayer with the fat peg legged playable character? There were single player games being cancelled….How can you not love what's happening with the current Sony and Bungie? I just love it. It'll teach em a lesson for the rest of their lives.
I think it has already happened. I have been free from Destiny for an year now (finally) but people keep telling me they are pushing Destiny to a Diablo4 delivery model. What Sony will make it out to be: Bungie should just be absorbed to either make Destiny for the rest of their lives, or be used a support studio for other, more popular Sony (and Marvel) I.P.
Keep Shift Up away from this mess.Call Shift Up.
Aye. We may miss those times, but shareholders miss them even more. The good old times when games were made by nerd man for nerd man ..
The perception around I was also bad prior the launch, at least around my bubble. Its not console warring, people saw a potential bad product. If you thought this was about console warring, then why no one is doing the same with Helldivers II? This is brand loyalty excuse.
Also, while the things I mentioned about the look of the Marathon are pure subjective, so is yours. So I find it baffling that you "can't understand" why others can have same opinion as mine as if you are the only one who can tell what is good art direction, which is even funnier now that we know this art direction was also a stolen one.
As for "unfinished", it really does look that way. Even Arc Raiders look more polished without relying on stolen (bad) artwork.
Sure, they can do whatever they want with a dead IP and we can have whatever opinion we have on a game that attempt to use an old IP to sell a game.
? huh, many companies will still hire based on resume if someone is in the industry for 6 years, but has a solid body of work they've done on other projects, so saying 6 years here is odd, but 7 years for lead designer at WB is normal in and of itself is strange to think its this deep absolute.6 years in the games industry and already creative director on Sony's biggest upcoming multiplayer game ... did no-one else apply for the role?
Meanwhile:
Embark requires 10+ years experience for the Lead Designer role. [Job Listing]
Ten Square Games requires 8+ years experience for Lead Designer role. [Job Listing]
Warner Bros requires 7+ years experience for Lead Designer role. [Job Listing]
But sure ... 6 years of writing narrative qualifies you for creative direction at Sony.
6 years is very little experience for any role in the modern video games industry period.6 years is very little experience for a creative director role, double that is typical
Was about to reply "you must be new here", but you literally are. You will learn with time, young padawan.I can't understand the hate and negativity surrounding this game.
He's still feeling the effects of the banhammer for a few months. Otherwise, we'd probably have at least a few threads about Marathon on a daily basis.
It's a mix of it being a GaaS title and wanting Bungie's first new release to fail after Sony bought them. The title being being good or bad has anything to do with it.I can't understand the hate and negativity surrounding this game. I hope they can counter the hate and perception surrounding Marathon, because I don't think the game itself has as many problems as people think. Even with stolen art issue -a problem absolutlely fixable and less serious than people people believe or would like-, the art direction is the best of the generation by a mile. We got some amazing first party games and experiences after their last smack into reality (PS3 launch). How can you not love what's happening with the current Sony and Bungie? I just love it. It'll teach em a lesson for the rest of their lives.
Bungie was already absorved back in mid 2022, when SIE bought 100% of the company, since then is a fully owned SIE subsidiary that reports to the head of SIE's first party games, and since then have SIE's head of 1st party games and SIE's head of marketing in their board of directors. What I hope the actual lesson will be: Don't overvalue the potential purchases of multiplayer studios.
What the internet wants it to be: Be on our side of the culture war and you'll be fine.
What Sony will make it out to be: Bungie should just be absorbed to either make Destiny for the rest of their lives, or be used a support studio for other, more popular Sony (and Marvel) I.P.
It's easy to understand:I can't understand the hate and negativity surrounding this game. I hope they can counter the hate and perception surrounding Marathon, because I don't think the game itself has as many problems as people think. Even with stolen art issue -a problem absolutlely fixable and less serious than people people believe or would like-, the art direction is the best of the generation by a mile. This all sounds like a nice plan…until something goes wrong.Bungie was already absorved back in mid 2022, when SIE bought 100% of the company, since then is a fully owned SIE subsidiary that reports to the head of SIE's first party games, and since then have SIE's head of 1st party games and SIE's head of marketing in their board of directors.
In the acquisition agreed that some Bungie staff would move to the central SIE/PS Studios teams to support the SIE GaaS teams sharing knowledge and expertise, and Bungie also decided that -obviously- would reduce redundancies since obviously some job positions weren't needed there since they also had people at SIE already doing that job for all their studios.
Bungie keeps their publishing label and publishing all their stuff everywhere day one, but other than that they are part of PS Studios, as seen in the Marathon alpha including the PS Studios logo in the boot sequence. Bungie was incubating a new team to make a new game of totally different genres targeting a different audience, that when ready got their own studio under the PS Studios umbrella.
Other than that, for at least some years they continue and will continue focused in Marathon and Destiny.
Lol no.Oh, I know where the hate comes from. From the same place of people cheering up every new publisher acquisition by Microsoft. Its pure console warring.

Well, it's what they already did until now. This all sounds like a nice plan…until something goes wrong.
This is exactly what i keep telling myself. The problem is that we don't even known what's coming. They used to announce titles, and if they take a while to come out, well, it is what it is. Now, now we know nothing. And it's been like that for some time. Impossible to be excited for the system and its future when there isn't a new GoW announced, and it's been years since Ragnarok came out.We got some amazing first party games and experiences after their last smack into reality (PS3 launch).
So let's see how this plays out for them again.
Yeah. I also want a new Uncharted. Gruff Drake non girl-boss edition. Can't believe it's been almost 10 yearsThis is exactly what i keep telling myself.
