I don't know. but i guess it's one blessing that we may not have to put up with him for too long. not that i'd like to see him dead...i just don't want him as pope.

Not that I'm personally very catholic as it is, but my family is and it's a part of my heritage. And i very much dislike this man.

One of the Popes in the 800s or 900s changed his name, he was named Mercury and he didn't want to be named as some pagan god. And well, Peter (the first Pope) changed his name too.

They picked a much older person this time because they don't want another 20+ year long papacy.

Yeah, I'm not gonna flip out about the Hitler Youth thing. But still... imagine how the people of Poland must feel over these past few weeks. Going from having their own man as pope to having a man from a country that most poles still fear as the person their entire government is modelled after. hahaha... what I wouldn't give to see the reaction of the poles right now.

Umm Hi?

Poles are, well... not quite celebrating but they are happy because Ratzinger was Wojtyla's closest friend in the Vatican. We feel as if it was Wojtyla's wish come true.

I haven't heard ONE Nazi/ Hitler comment yet in polish TV or forums.

Ratzinger is so concervative and I think a step backwards for the Church. I haven't practiced my Catholic faith in years so my opinion means little but the church really had an oppurtunity to elect a progressive minded leader and blew it.

Still it feels VERY strange to go from John Paul II, who was a Pope for 27 years to any other new face. It's against rational thinking, I'm asking myself "So where's JP2? He should show up in that window any moment now..."
