At my school, there are so many "fit" guys around; it drives me crazy. I've lost about 20 lbs so far on Slow Carb and then Paleo, but I'm only halfway there. It helps to have tons of hot SoCal girls at school, too, to motivate me!

Been eating like crap the last couple of days. Pizza two nights ago, fried dough this morning, stupid family making it so easy for me to eat garbage.

Back on track starting tonight.

You're not alone - I've been "indulging" a little more than I like to the past few days. Consequences of a really hectic busy schedule, and my wife now working. We've figured it out though, and really, a few times a month have a cookie or two, or getting take out, I'm not too worried about it. I also haven't done any interval training in a few weeks, should get back on that...

Just have to keep that in mind and stay focused. There's no way I'd go back to how it was before eating better. This thread helps to keep me focused though!

welp...
I lost 30 pounds since I started exercising/dieting. So I guess I should post some pics for this milestone :$

This is my picture in November 2010, I had been dealing with depression, acne and other problems:
-gone-

This is a pic I took earlier today, feeling better than ever and 95% acne free :p I'm wearing the exact same clothes I wore in that picture lol:
-gone-

and here's another picture, sorry about the broken/dirty mirror here :$
-gone- loool

I'm 5ft6 by the way, so my BMI is still slightly above 25. I'm hoping to lose 20 more pounds :D

Edit: I'll post pics again when I reach my goal

Do your worst NFL-GAF

5'10, 5'11.

Didn't get any loose skin. I've been "athletic" all of my life so that probably helped.

The only negative thing has been some stretch marks on my side but they're actually significantly lessened. You can barely see them now.

Is loose skin a real concern for anyone but the morbidly obese?

It seems like some people may be mistaking their remaining flab for 'loose skin'.

I had a real problem with it back when I shed 60lbs.

Went from 225 to about 165lbs back in high school.

My former gut looked like a wrecked porn star vagina. It was disgusting. The main reason I wouldn't get with any chicks back then.

Though that could have been attributed to the speed at which I dropped the weight.

Wish I had that kind of motivation again.

Weird... I'm pretty much in the exact same position as you were (around 5'11" height)--I went from 225lbs in February, to just about 160lbs today. I still have a slight spare tire, but nothing in the way of loose skin.

How tall are you and how quickly did you lose that weight?

5'10" - the weight loss was over the course of the summer of. . . '94? Around 3-5 months.

Not being vague, it was a long time ago.

I was eating one meal a day. Lots of water. And doing 45 minutes on a stair climber in a 90+ degree attic.

Brandon Lee's death lit a fire under my ass.

Did it tighten by itself, or did you gain the weight back?

Sorry, I gained the weight back. It was easily the lesser of two shames.

I suspect the rapid weight loss, poor diet, and purely cardio based exercise regiment is to blame.

I don't want to scare anybody; but that was my experience so please be careful.

I got lucky, lost 100 lbs and dont have any loose skin...(at least I dont think I do).

My stomach isn't ripped and hard, but I think its cause I still have a little fat on it (and not much muscle).

Feel weird posting pictures of my self on GAF after how I asked GAF to shop photos of my brother.... LOL

But .... Im doing low carb... Lost about 15lbs in two weeks... I have done keto before but I couldnt really hold on to the diet correctly. I would carb up and just ... I couldnt control my urges. I have been doing just low carb and I had low energy pretty much up till 4 days ago.

I have been taking a lot of multi mega men vitamens from GNC and Animal PAK and Animal Omega.

So far so Good I guess.... Drinking a lot of water I might add... maybe just under a gallon a day....

Let me know what you guys think? >_<;;

Weekend road trips kill me in terms of eating due to having to resort to fast food. Does anyone have suggestions on healthier choices at some popular places? So far I've got,

Subway - Salad
KFC - Grilled Chicken

And that's it..

Hit 21 lbs lost on Friday....before my 3-day weekend in Destin, FL for a friend/neighbor's wedding. Being an extended weekend out of town AND attending a wedding with a full bar, my diet and work-out routines were thrown completely off. Had a great time, though. :)

Anyway, the damage wasn't too bad. I gained ~1.5 lbs back and I think I can shed a pound before the weekend.

Again, it's perfectly fine to have a Cheat Day once a week. It gives you something to look forward to, meal-wise, and prevents one from "cracking" like you say. As long as you limit it to one day, you'll be fine.

Don't worry.

Eat the food without the bread. I eat from Carls Jr and Burker King all the time. Get a diet drink, and I eat the burgers without fries and without the bun. From the pics above you can see I am still making progress.

Also I do not have cheat days, Dunno how you guys can do a whole day of cheating then get right on track with the diet again..... I had to eliminate them completely so I could stay on track.

Places like McDonalds and Burger King and stuff you can simply order things without buns or cheese or whatever.

2 McDoubles no bun = $2 and it's not terrible for you.

So I'm still trying to lean into everything, and I'm unsure of doing 20g of carbs a day off the bat. I've seen some folks around the office that couldn't do it. Some one suggested starting with 50-75 carbs. Any suggestions?

My suggestion would be to look into what kind of food is available to you every day and create some kind of sustainable plan based on that rather than set some arbitrary numerical macronutrient intake limit.

I agree. If your goal is to just lose weight to be healthy, there is no need to pick some specific number of any particular macro. Make a healthier choice every day. Count your calories, so that you know how much your eating.

Before you know your diet will be ship shape and your progress will surprise even you.

Everyone says losing weight is hard. I feel like that is just what people say to make themselves feel better. Pay attention to what you stuff into your face, every week try to do a little bit better than the week before.

Keto diets and the like can be useful if you are trying to go from 15% body fat to 7%, but learning to eat healthier and make better choices day to day is much better to get to sub 20% than specific diet plans.

We are having a weight loss competition at work, winner gets $500. I started at 192 and now im at 182. I want to get to 175 at least. I have 7 weeks left. I've been going to the gym before and after work. I'm good on the diet and drinking tons of water. My only weekness is booze. I love to drink, so thats going to be hard.

$500 is a damn nice reward. You should just cut all carb intake and blow everyone else out of the water (assuming no one else is doing the same...)

Thanks for the reply. Low Carb was specifically recommended to me because it's more about counting carbs than calories. We don't have a lot of variety where I am, and I can overcome some of that, which is another reason why low carb appealed to me. I love eating meat, and I like carbs like everybody else, but I'd rather eat a steak than a salad, so the low carb thing works better for where I am and what I like. Does that make sense?

I don't agree with counting calories, personally. I think that counting anything is tedious and unnecessary. My belief is that it's far more important to identify what foods are good and what foods are not and consume those rather than have an arbitrary limit that tends to put people in the mindset of "oh, I can still have 40 carbs for the day! I guess a cookie or two won't hurt!"

I'm sure the system works for some people, but I believe it's far more valuable to find out what kind of foods will make you fat and unhealthy and what kind of foods will do the opposite (or at least be fairly neutral) and plan your meals that way.

Willpower. And you get more of it the more progress you make.

My weekly Cheat Day is my reward for being good the other 6 days. See, I like junk food and I love alcohol, a lot. My Cheat Day is the day I can enjoy the stuff I like and not hate myself afterwards. It's my ticket to sanity.

Its not as hard as it seems... Avoid anything with wheat... most fruits and drinks. Its basically meat and veggies.

The only issue I have ever had was breaking my diet to cheat, then not being able to give up the cheat foods as easily as I had thought. (Fat + Carbs together are like a drug son)

Or running out of food and making an excuse to break the diet to eat something else.

It comes down to figuring out what you want, and what is more important. That cut body, or that bowl of ceral and milk cause theirs nothing else around... And do what you have to do till you can eat the proper food.

Protien shakes work wonders!!! Zero Carb ISOPRUE ALL DAY LONG!

I wrote this a while for my brother who is on CKD...

Fat – 122grams 57%

Carbs-31gams 6%

Protein-174grams 36%

1 Scoop Carnivore Musclemeds Fruit Punch Protein

Breakfast - (7AM – 8AM)

2 Tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Snack – (10AM – 11AM)

(May have a ZERO CALORIE ZERO CARB Diet drink or Carbonated water)

Lunch – (1PM – 3PM)

8oz Kroger Chicken Tenders

Snack – (5PM-6PM) PRE or POST workout Drink

1 Scoop of Carnivore

Dinner (8PM – 9PM)

2 Slices of Bacon/ 2 Eggs/ 1 Cup Spinach/ 1 Cow Pals String Cheese

2 Tablespoons of Extra Virgin Olive Oil

oh ill also add being in Keto seems to make me hunger...... I ate a whole chicken the other day in one sitting.... never have I ever done that before.

Thank you for the response. I'll try something like that, but I need to find a replacement for eggs. Can't stand them.

You're pealing the breading off the chicken tenders, right?

I am on a kick of having shakes for breakfast, any suggestions for fairly inexpensive protein powder I can add to make me feel a bit more full off them?

Don't buy chicken tenders with bread on them. So I don't have to.

Also for eggs? Uh eat a lot of bacon in the morning... maybe with turkey suasuage and add some toppings... (never too much toppings as they do add up in carbs)

While not protein powder, you could add condensed (canned) milk. It'll add protein and thicken your drink. Cheap too.

Pure Protein, which you should be able to find at Wal-Mart, is almost identical to most of the top brands nutrition-wise and I find that it tastes pretty good.

What kind of diet do you follow on your regular days?

And to anybody else, I'm in an area with a lot of fast food. can I really just go to wendy's, get a double and then throw out the bun if I'm doing low carb and be good with that? I eat my burgers with just meat and cheese anyway.

Yes, absolutely. If you use ketchup, you might want to avoid it. A lot of carbs you wouldn't expect. You can buy reduced sugar ketchup for home use, though.
