I think we should lynch. I haven't been if a GAFia game before but I read Animal Crossing (THAT TOM NOOK REVEAL!) and people were beating themselves up the second day for going No Evict on the first.

We still have 3 days lets not rush on the inactive on Day 1 people probably haven't got used to checking gaf every single time to answer. If we do need a replacement Retro will take care of it. So no dont vote for someone who cant defend themselves as it wont give any info.

Are you saying second day as in today or second day as in the second game day which will be like a week from now?
Never ever ever PM another player in your game unless your role allows you to do something weird like that (and I highly doubt it does, usually communication like that goes through the gamerunner, not direct). As far as lynching him, Mike sums it up for me as well:

Fluff aside thus isn't a big deal, four votes at this stage for the most part probably won't stick. On top of that I understand why most of them are there.

Then Squidy, uh, actually I don't completely understand Squidy. He said it was because of the pic the Boo Boo posted so let's go with that.
Sorian did his Sorian thing and bounced his vote for the sake of conversation.
And Jay was just bandwagoning. He's new, not much else is happening, it's understandable.

Ferret is too cool for school. This feels like trying to pressure GreatCharleston but with a slightly higher post count. I'll abort the bandwagon for now since I finally see something I don't like.
Waiting for a response but I'm pretty sure he means the bolded and this doesn't fly with me. Letting RNG cast your final vote for this day phase? That's useless for town, that could even greatly hurt town and I'd rather someone make a misguided vote of No Lynch instead of just rolling the dice and letting it fly.

Crap I pretty much remember PMs being against the rules... either way, that lynching comment was mostly a joke based on the spoiler text. I'mma be super serious from now on since everyone pounced on that part. I didn't even change my vote in that case. Only joking since Sorian said the replaced player in an earlier game turned out to be scum. Of course it's a bad idea. An absent player can't even role claim to protect themselves and we'd be lynching completely blind.

They're lifted pretty much word for word from podcast episodes. I expect a Carlos role to be in the game because he's a major character (also I have no doubt he'd be NV-aligned), but other than that I have no reason to doubt Retro's only posting these so that people who are unfamiliar with the NV lore aren't left at a total loss when it comes to flavor, rather than being full-fledged hints.

I was wondering when the first ads were going to be played. For some reason I assumed Cecil would be the one presenting them.
True, I was thinking more of the ads before/after the radio show. The ones where they beg for money to help NightVale continue to exist.
I'd be surprised if Carlos wasn't straight NV-aligned.
And I do think important stuff will come from Retro's broadcasts but so far these are word for word from the podcast, I'm thinking the more important broadcasts that have to do with our game will be more tailored for us specifically. Personally, I think it's too early for role hinting broadcasts, I wouldn't really look into them much until day 2 and beyond, that's just me though. Seems like Retro is setting the mood today instead.

With that being said though, maybe my assumption was wrong.
I'm not quite sure I agree with this. Any speculation on roles would pretty much be a list of named characters in NightVale and what Mafia role it might fit. There's no information out there to help us guess what roles might be in play (since no night actions occurred), so it would literally just be a giant list of things that could or could not be in the game which is basically any role at all.
I also think even creating that list is likely to be more helpful to scum trying to fakeclaim later on than it is for town. I don't want to give them more to work with than they already have. Sure Retro is throwing out character names, and we could guess alignment on them, but I don't think we should guess anything else personally.
Any particular reason you never questioned him on that? Looking at your posts you reacted to Boo putting a vote on you, and made a joke when Sorian put his on you but nothing to Squidy. In fact really, all your reactions have been kinda muted and just "Meh whatever" to everything.
If you aren't sure why Squidy put a vote on you, why not respond to his?

This is actually a fair question and I second it. Any reason you didn't respond to squidy, Ferret? You went out of your way to respond onto my own vote and Jay's vote, I did notice at the time that you didn't bother with squidy but now it's weird in retrospect.

Oh hey someone recognized it yes! You should go over the pre-game posts, I pretty much just spammed Twilight Zone quotes in it (it fits WAY too well here).
Yeah, Squidy is the ONLY person who he didn't respond to directly, which is definitely an outlier.
Also, it might be worth bringing up here: Roughly how many Mafia do we expect? I'm guessing maybe 5 or 6 (6 on the high side). I'm wary of what we should consider possible tipping points for turbos, and I'd like to stay well away from them, especially early in the day phases. I know we're not quite there yet, but until people start replying and playing, I think it's a conversation worth having.

Lower end if there are a lot of neutrals, higher end if there are few neutrals. Maybe a lost partner or two as well since that seems to be a thing in bigger gafia games.

Help me understand your reads here then. What made you read scum from razmos, what made you read scum from Trigger?
It seems that last circle there is an interaction, what makes you think one of those 3 names is scum (while alluding that the other two wouldn't be?)

I actually meant to respond to Squidy at the same time as Boo Boo, but I was in class and didn't have a lot of time to make an awkward multiquote mobile post. By the time I had a moment to bring Squidy up I had kinda forgotten about it.

I held concert with the Wheel of Fate, we spoke through the night in long-forgotten tongues and it revealed unto me it's mysteries. Turns out it's just a lonely old wheel, everybody comes by for a name, but nobody stays to chat. Which is a shame because the wheel of fate knows a lot about life and gave me some really good advice. It makes a very nice cup of chamomile tea as well.
I don't want to talk about the how and why of these reads at this time, I think I'll talk about it before I go to bed tonight. until then, murmur nervously amongst yourselves please.
I'm holding you to this. I know you were totally Sick Reads Pro Plus in Archer but then I played with you in NX and you were kind of lackluster so you have to work back up the goodwill a bit before I listen on your word.

I'm keeping my vote on Boo Boo'N for now. Ferret stayed as cool as ice and it's still not an avenue I can really attack. I still don't like Boo holding onto his RNG vote and acting like that's ok. I also get the sense that Trigger is playing the "act new" card to keep our guards lowered and it's all a sweet act, maybe I'm wrong but that's gut. I'll also mention gryvan in this post who only showed up to throw down a wheel vote (on me, which I find highly suspect since I happen to know him outside of the mafia community) and since then has been MIA.

I don't personally see the benefit in waiting longer, but I trust you have your reasons. I am worried that a lot of people are going to hold off saying anything until you talk though.
I still want Seath to come reply and answer my question about his vote. I know it's been early and it's hard to contribute in D1, but he could at least answer my questions about his voting philosophy here.
There were two random votes on him for no real reason, I wanted to "bandwagon" someone and the two choices were him or Scrafty who both had two votes at the time (Fireblend did too but I was one of the two votes so I couldn't really re-apply for a third vote). I chose Ferret since I know nothing about his game style and I know Scrafty plenty. Someone else followed my lead. I switched away because Ferret handles pressure pretty well and I saw something else I found scummy/anti-town that I wanted to vote against. Someone noted that Ferret didn't acknowledge Squidy's vote even though he went out of his way to acknowledge everyone else's vote. I thought it was a good question so I seconded it but didn't change my vote back to him. Someone else came along and applied another pressure vote for him to answer the question. He has now answered the question but everyone with a vote on him has not posted yet since then, except for Squidy I believe who is still just holding his vote there instead of switching it to someone he says he finds scummy when he has five names and 3 scum amongst them (according to him).
