Welcome to The Steam Summer Sale! Live from June 23rd to July 7th

Hmmm just realized all the games I had on my wish list was stuff free on game pass that I wanted to play on steam deck (that I sold to by a laptop).

Might get god of war and look at some other stuff, pressure washer game not on sale LAME

Man I'm starting to really hate the "View Details" button during these sales. Like Blazblue Cross Tag Battle is 4.99 with "view details" button, that then shows you the COMPLETE experience with all of the characters is $24.99. Then unlike most games with multiple versions, this one doesn't even list specifically what you get with the "Special Edition", so I had to go to the arcsys website. It's just a pain.

It's a Capcom bukkake on Steam

well some of the games on my wishlist are definitely more discounted than before... the only problem being is that I am ballsdeep in some other games and I don't have time for these games even if I pick them up now.... ugh such a conundrum. Especially since I might be able to just wait for these to drop further while freeing myself of that extra time lol. ehhhhh

In the past few years, buying a game directly from Steam is like trying out outfits in the mall. It's just there to make sure it fits then you get it from somewhere else. Even if you ignore grey market places like CDKeys, completely legit sites like GMG still have much better prices for me.

EDIT: Case in point I just bought the TMNT game for $18 on GMG compared to $22.50 directly from Steam.

I miss the old days when GMG didnt use your local currencies.

So what exactly happened with steam sales...I've been on steam for over 15 years, have a badge to prove it, but what happened? Why are they not good now?

tldr: steamspy guy made a speech back in 2017 (GDC I think) where he explained how selling the games too cheap was a problem, it had a huge impact and the industry changed its pricing strategy.
That's exactly what happened.
Now, ignore the fact that said guy is currently running EGS and is giving away games for free en masse with 10$ vouchers for every purchase.

I bought Amid Evil, Nightmare Reaper and two Disney games(one is about the difficulties in the lives of princesses). Thus, the average rating of ESRB decreased to 9.

Another vote for Monster Train - amazing roguelike deckbuilding game, similar to Slay the Spire (though, in my opinion, better).

So far I've only picked up Brick Rigs for my son. It like a Lego vehicle builder with destruction and physics. He's really into games like Teardown, and he's been asking for this lately.

I ended up buying ff12, dlc for tales of arise, and got the dlc character for blazblue centralfiction finally since it was super cheap. Got exactly what I wanted out of the sale.

Over the years this sale has become less of a me buying a ton of games thing, and more of a game where I'm just trying to collect all the cards and get a badge, lmao. I miss the old summer sales. :(

Gonna have to check and see what's on sale on my wishlist, when I tried checking a bit ago I guess Steam got overwhelmed and fell asleep? Lol.

Same, would also be great if the store wouldn't always shit the bed.

Anyone have/play this? I've been thinking about it for a while now.

If you played games like contra 3 or contra hard corps on the 16 bit era you are going to like this one. These guys in particular seem to be huge into genesis/Megadrive. They really nailed the style of the era.

how did that work?
From what I recall it was something like this:

Lets say you want a game on steam and lets say its 20 dollars. You would befriend a seller that will sell games using Team Fortress 2 keys as a currency. The keys are used to open loot crates that either drop in Team Fortress 2 or bought on the store and the only way to get keys are either trading with other people/marketplace or buying from the store. The seller will tell you that he want 6 keys for the game and lets say the keys are 2 dollars each to buy. Then you would buy 6 keys make a trade on steam for the game as a gift (usually) or sometime a cdkey (not as secure). So the game would only be 12 dollars instead of the 20 dollars. Usually the prices was ranging from "a little cheaper" than the sale price to even 50% of the sale price on steam. But after steam clamped down on both gifting and trading from other parts of the world where games was cheaper then the "keys for gifts" trading kind of died out. But it was a great time to get games really cheap.

how did that work?
There would be a trader from a region that had cheap games, you would give him a certain amount of tf2 keys and in return he would gift you the game that you wanted.
Can't remember the usual price of a tf2 key back then but let's say it was 1.80€ for each.
The game that you wanted was 40€ on your region, but for the trader, it was something like 10€.
You would give him 7 or 8 tf2 keys, meaning that you got the game cheaper and the trader got some extra cash.

Valve barred this system by not allowing gifting games from different regions (with price disparity if I'm not mistaken). You can still see this type of deals but it's usually bundled games and the trader is a greedy asshole.

Edit: beaten by a large margin, damn!

I bought some Gunvolt games because I've been going hard on Megaman Zero and want more Inti Creates shit

Also I got Celeste... and uh The Master Chief Collection despite not being a huge Halo fan because I have an urge for shooty games

I have like £80 in credit and I'm definitely going to impulse buy more stuff I won't play, but right now I'm trying not to goon out too hard at the sale.

Cheapshark is decent way to look through deals on Steam. I feel like everything is scattered on the Steam client. This just makes it into a list that can be sorted in a bunch of different ways...

Can also use it to compared deals on legit game sites like Greenmangaming, GoG, etc.

Got The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe and Disco Elysium - The Final Cut.

Couldn't bring myself to bite on God of War, played the shit out of it already. I will wait till is sub $20

Dropped $224. Got 21 cards and still couldn't craft the badge lol @ rng. Told myself I was going to restock on games and ended up mainly buying visual novels and porn smh.

Monster Train - $7.96
Loop Hero - $5.25
Nexomon: Extinction - $8.49
Urtuk: The Desolation - $10.61
Tails of Iron - $13.27
BRAVELY DEFAULT II - $31.86
Vigil: The Longest Night - $14.01

in case you don't know, you can use steamdb to look for games with biggest discounts, or just to see the game you are interested is at its lowest price.

That was me, ooo could be worth a look so head to the store page look for a complete edition and was pretty expensive, expand dlc list then promptly leave the page.
Yep, when I see that much DLC I feel like I'm being suckered in with the 'basic edition' and will miss out on a shitton. So feels not worth to buy it.

Very true. I'm not for or against key sites. It's good that they there as a lot of people count every EUR and it's still better to buy a key than just pirate the game.
Actually no.

With the way some key sites operate it can actually be detrimental to the financial side of things for (smaller) devs when you purchase keys from those websites. Devs have come out numerous time now urging people to pirate their games rather than buy from resellers such as G2A.
