Prices will go down when more options are available... right now we have 3 7GB/s SSDs announced yet.To be honest I think I'm going to be fine just swapping games between HDD and SSD for a while.
The chart says PS5 for the SN850.That chart really doesnt say what you think it does. It looks like the USB stuff is Xbox and PS compatible, which we already know.

This is a high end consumer SSD drive... On your PC you have tons of options if you want to spend less money... You could spend much less than half that amount if you take the low end SATA road.1TB $229.99 eek

I thought open market was so cheap

I'm pretty sure that 2TB is cheaper than the 970 Pro/Evo when they were first released. Hell, possibly cheaper than the 1TB versions of those drives. That'll be a $200 or less drive by next summer. You won't need an expansion drive for PS5 before then, unless you buy every game made for PS5.The 2TB version is FUCK NO.
Yeah tried to click through to the WD source page to find out but got a 404 errorWhat does the fine-print say about that asterisk? You'd expect Sony to have released a list of compatible drives, if there were any.
You thought wrong.I thought open market was so cheap
Seems like way more hassle than the xbox option. Load ur games on, take to ur friends pop it in and play. Other manufactures to come down the line. Elgant, simple, intuitive.Very exciting. PS5 players are going to be spoiled for choice. Options, that's what it's all about.

Expected it to be more expensive, tho. We will see how the prices compare with what the competition has to offer.
I mean compared to other ssd vendors.1TB without a heatsink is $229. The 1TB XSX expansion card is $219. (cue someone pointing out how the PS5 SSD is faster)

Ps5 approach, "please snap off the plastic, get a screwdriver, once in it aint going nowhere. Download the games at ur friends if u want to play".

Okay.Where is everyone that was slamming the xbox ssd price at $229? I swear this is the exact same price. Let's be fair at least.

I often would visit a mate and take my external hard drive, plug it into his xbox and we'd play some games he didnt own or couldnt afford to buy on launch (fifa for example). So it does still happen.Jokes on you.
Social gatherings are banned for the remainder of the year.
(but seriously... Are we seriously having this conversation in 2020 when the vast majority of people just play online when they want to play games with their friends?)
