Western Digital Apparently Confirmed The First Official SSD Compatible with PS5

Between extra storage like this, the consoles themselves and the price of a high res/refresh TV, getting the best out of next gen is going to be £1K+, whether you are team blue or green.

Thanks
What enclosure would you recommend?

Is it for sure these can be used for PS5/Next gen games, or there not sure yet and only recommended for PS4 games etc?

Until we get a compatibility list directly from Sony, we wouldn't know what's really compatible with the PS5 yet. I was answering your question on whether these M.2 Gen 4 SSD can be used externally. Good luck with your search!

I'll tell you an easy way to get the 1tb version. Sign up for a Chase credit card for the 200 dollar reward. You get 200 bucks after spending 500 bucks. Buy a console on credit and then get the 1tb SSD heavily discounted to almost free.

I don't think the 500GB will work due to slow write speeds
Maybe but I believe games rely on read and not write... that is why you could use physical non-writable media in the past.

PS5 games needs better than 5.5GB/s read speeds to work.

Remember those ps3's that released with 40-60gb space? So keep calm and wait 2-3 years for inevitable upgraded and smaller model which will have 2 or more tb in it.

When the memory cost as much, if not more than the system itself, you know we got a problem. Microsoft could still have it worst though with Gamepass eating up your memory like a rabid little Pac-Man. Then again, PSNow might not be much better and backwards compatibility is going to take it's share of memory as well.

Not really, SSDs are cheap now. You can get one for under €100.
However the SSDs that can keep up with the PS5 required speed are expensive.

I remember when a 128gb SSD would cost $100 and a $256gb like $200. Of course this is expensive it's a state of the art SSD one of the fastest contrary to the Xbox SSD that a equivalent SSD cost $100 or less.
