But even with the bells and whistles the developers try to throw into this virtual recreation, it just doesn't match the fun of the actual mechanical classic, something that players can exert themselves over for a few quarters and move on. It's not nearly enough action, nor is it fun or addictive enough to sustain a 30 dollar price tag.

5.5 Presentation
A surprising amount of work went into a clearly budget and quick-cycle DS project, but don't expect an overwhelming experience...it's simple.
6.0 Graphics
Nice visuals and animation, though the background graphics work against the puzzle option.
7.0 Sound
The soundtrack has some variety and some tunes are toe-tappingly catchy.
5.5 Gameplay
It's just a whole lot of screen tapping, and it gets old. The addition of a puzzle mode changes things up a bit, as does the multiplayer competition, but mostly this isn't all that fulfilling.
4.0 Lasting Appeal
The fun doesn't last because of the stale and repetitive design. Bettering your high score and playing against other people will extend playtime, but not much.
5.0 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

I'm a little embarrassed that this kind of crap can even get made. What happened to the Nintendo Seal of Quality :-(

Fuck this shit, I'm sure most on this forum hadn't even heard of this pile of crap before the review. Who gives a fuck? At least with Castlevania reviews coming up we can actually have a discussion on it.

I don't see any reason to why this was posted aside from who actually posted it. What a waste.

Plus a fair amount of people actually care about Castlevania and the gaming greatness they provide.

Sounds complex. Different types of moles, methinks? Perhaps, maybe even invisible moles. Just not until level 6.

On hard mode.

I don't get why this was posted either. It's not exactly targeted at the GAF demographic. It actually bugs me to have to see it on GAF :P

Believe it or not, crappy games have had the Seal of Quality all the way back to the NES era... :)

Saw this displayed prominently at the Nintendo World Store DS display for the past few days and couldn't help but shake my head in chagrin every time.

What's ironic is everyone's going "OMG CRAPPY GAME," when the review goes to great pains to say, "This has a lot of effort put into it, there was just no way to add real depth to this concept as a full game." They're saying that it's NOT crappy, there's just no way this is worth $30.

And the screenshots look about as good as such a game could look.

They probably realized the Seal of Quality meant nothing after so many crappy Nintendo games had it, because for a while now it's just been the "Official Nintendo Seal."

who the fuck cares about whack-a-mole? where is the goddamn review of DoS?

Speaking of games nobody cares about. Tak and the great Juju Challenge, has anybody played it? Saw it in Hastings today and didn't even know it was out.

Oh, let's not kid ourselves. There are very few CRAPPY Nintendo games. :]

They really should kid rid of that seal though. It's lame.

why the hell did IGN even review this? I mean, was there *ANYBODY* who was actually anticipating a full priced game with the gameplay value of ONE Mario 64 mini game?

The Seal of Quality was used to distinguish actual NES merchandise from unlicensed knockoffs. Like the holograms on NFL merchandise.

In any case, if this is the best that Western developers can do when faced with the DS, I weep for America.

Just like the piles of shovelware made for the GBA. Who didn't see it coming?

I cannot believe how many replys there are in this thread. Anyway, why moles? Why not some other creature? How about:
