What can Microsoft announce at E3 to turn it around?

"April fools!! Haha! Look at all your dumb faces!! Kinect? Ki..what? Used games? Fuck yeah that too! That new rumored game you wanted to come out? Yeah we got it and it's fuckin' awesome. New games, new games. .... more games! "

Probably in a less douchey manner heh.

Really though, I'm not sure. I really don't like the DRM so for me, nothing will really turn it around (unless they do the above stated). I'll certainly watch Microsoft conference and get hyped for anything huge but I'm not on board with Microsoft this gen. I'm really pulling for Sony to not announce similar policies to MS.

Even Peter Moore is smirking!

It is going to be very, very, very difficult for Microsoft to salvage the Xbox One hardcore gamer perception right now. They're going to be going into E3 with the odds stacked against them because they're at the mercy of so many gamers' ire right now. This is bad news for their showing. When you're in someone's good graces it's easier for you to have a strong showing. When you're in the bad graces it would take significantly more for the walk away perception to be strong or optimistic.

Basically what I'm saying is that Microsoft has an E3 conference that is perceived as equal to or less than Sony it is a certain failure for them. They have to surpass what Sony shows and all signs point to that not happening. I recall reading some dev on GAF saying that he has never seen Sony this focused in unison.

Remove all online verification check ins.

As a side note, I find it funny that people are mentioning KI3 as some sort of killer app. A fighting game the community shuns because of its platform suuuuure would be fun.

Removing the mandatory kinect, online drm and announcing they won't block used games in any way, shape or form is the only way I would give the system a fair shake.

Since we're talking about games, the only exclusive right now that would catch my eye would be Mirror's Edge 2.

The confirmation of the Xbox mini that when plugged into the xbone allows you to play 360 retail and arcade titles through it.

Online multiplayer not behind a pay wall.

This... I almost envision Mattrick saying at E3:

After showing one or two games for Xbox 360

"Wow, so much exclusives coming for Xbox 360, but how can I enjoy them with the power of Xbox One bla bla bla bla bla bla Xbox add on bla bla bla bla the power of the cloud bla bla bla" shows Halo and Gears of war running on Xbox One...

A man can dream, can't he?

What I'm dreading and I'm ashamed to say might work is if they go the exclusive route with EA over lesser known properties that EA might say yes to exclusiving because they don't care so much about, like Mirrors Edge 2.

But that's pretty much it. Unless they backpedal on a LOT of what they implied/outright said, all they really need is the right combination of actually exclusive games, and I'm not talking about Halo/Gears/Forza, I'm talking either new really fresh IPs or major 3rd party exclusives that used to be multi-console... and even those have gotten stale/divisive recently at best (DmC, Bioshock, Dead Space, Assassin's Creed, Mass Effect etc...).

But damn, if they got got Mirrors Edge 2 or the next Deus Ex exclusive... I'd have a hard time saying no and I actively dislike almost everything I've heard about the XBone thus far. Maybe that will be the E3 surprise: "Hate our anti-consumer games-on-the-side privacy-invading console? We know, but too bad you're buying it anyway and here's why."

They built a console designed for them to be able to disable everyone's access to it after 24 hours. There is no way to turn it around. Should we start taking bets now about how long Microsoft waits to disable the Xbones authentication servers when the successor to the Xbone comes out?

The 360 is my favorite console ever, and I've been playing since the Atari days. But the One is leaving me sort of cold, which I never expected. I still believe MS can turn things around with a great E3. Personally, I would love to see what they can do with Halo on next gen, and a great Halo showing would really get me to believe again. Also, if the rumor about dedicated servers is true, that would also go along way.

So with hope, I created a GIF. What will it take to turn things around for you guys?

people will immediately forget the shitty launch if they have killer games.

I'm guessing you meant "reveal" instead of "launch". Anyways, for the people who are just upset with the actual reveal event, sure I agree.

For the people upset with the anti-consumer policies that became known after the event. Doubt that it's going to win many (if any) back or make them forget.

It isn't a small matter we're dealing with here, it's not something like the console having last-gen graphics, or a weird looking controller, a small irreplaceable harddrive, no wifi etc.

This one is a serious issue that people have with the console. Even some diehard MS fanboys are legitimately concerned about the issues and are planning on not buying the console (especially near launch) if MS goes through with the policies.
