What can we expect Gran Turismo PS4 to Look Like?

Is there anything out right now that this game could be compared to?

Does GAF believe it will be a launch title or will we not see it until 2-3 years into the PS4 lifecycle?

I think the cars are already at a point where it will be difficult to make them look much better. You can do stuff to the interior but ultimately there's only so many polygons to use in the exterior before it becomes unnoticeable. They need to work on lighting, and environmental details to make the game look better.

I personally hope that Polyphony will develop other types of games for once. Making GT over and over again can't be good for a team that, early on, made a game as different as Omega Boost. Imagine what they could do now - I'm sure they have dozens of game design documents that would blow people's minds if they were ever made.

They can just keep the exteriors the same, work on the polygon counts of the interior, drastically improve the shadows and most importantly work on track detail...
The visual discrepancy between tracks and cars in gt5 was huge.

Cars aren't going to get much better.
Better sound, better tracks.
Vehicle deformation, fantastically detailed crashes, tyres blowing etc...
Weather effects.

Highly customisable cars.
Track creator.
I'd like a more user friendly UI as well.

They should focus all of their efforts on completely revamping the racing IMO, it's still way too "bumper car" for my liking. I couldnt care less about trackside graphics or realistic upholstery modelling, get some realistic physics and damage going and ill come back to the series.

We probably won't see it until 2015-2016 but there will most likely be a prologue released way before then.

GT5 was already borderline indistinguishable from reality in certain instances. Tbh, as obnoxious as it sounds, if they don't put out a shot that makes me question if it's an IRL photograph, then they've failed.

^those are what GT on PS4 should look like.

the cars sound like dirt bikes in GT5. the audio was way off. if they can fix the engine noises in GT6 that would be sweet. I also dont like how the camera is anchored to the back of the car in GT5. Doesnt look right. But yeah hopefully the graphics look like the photomode in GT5.

Looks like Kaz is in Germany now. Last week he was in France meeting FIA, Citroen and Renault and then he went to Italy to meet with Ferrari.

If it werent for the stickers/livery... I'd think that that was GT5.

I'm sure it'll look great. I hope they fix the pixelated shadows though. I was a little disappointing to see how great some of the cars looked to only have them ruined by hideous square blocks as shadows. More importantly they need shorten the load times, those were ridiculous.

I just want it to run full 1080P at GT5 photo mode quality with every car being premium model.

and better background graphics.

Hopefully without ANY jaggies.
With better smoke effects, particle effects, more polygons, tesselation, etc.

But that will all happen i think. My main concern is the sound.

Squeeky noisy tiresounds are the worst ever and the engine sounds are horribly digital.

GT5 photomode cars with better lighting and better looking tracks is my guess. Far better particle effects and damage as well, both were crappy in GT5.

Yeah, according to Kaz, they are too realistic..
Seriously though, they need to fix this. The good thing is he has acknowledged it and that they are going to sex it up...

I want in-game to look like that..

Current car details are more than enough;

I expect:
- proper damage modeling
- better sound
- better smoke / transparency effects and shadows
- better track details

and...

- no more invincible and/or invisible fences, at least a wider drivable range around the track. It is really jarring to spin out at high speed only to be stopped by a paper-thin fence or tape.

How bout a reflection of the dashboard on the windowshield.

What would be great is a LOT better track details and proper damage. I mean, the cars are already great, no need to touch that. Its just that this time they will all be "premiums".

It's not directly related to the graphics quality, but am I the only one who finds GT5's HUD immensely dull? It gets the job done, sure. But man, it looks like something from back in the age of the dinosaurs.

I'd see that improved for GT6. And bring us some HD cardboard spectators.

What were Gran Turismo 5's graphical shortcomings?

GT6 will probably just improve over them and make it flawless.

Other than the 800 PS2 cars and 2D spectators?

For one there is no such thing as something flawless(or perfect) don't overhype yourself that much. One big one is probably the really ugly artifacts in particle smoke.

Don't start this crap, we should never say that what we have now is good enough, there is always room for improvement.

Personally I expect the "premium" cars in GT6 to be better than GT5.
