What could Microsoft show at E3 to finally get you to buy an Xbox One?

I have a X1 but it's taken a back seat to the 360 as Titanfall didn't hold my interest much past a week.
H2A/Halo 5 will finally see the X1 get some proper use.

Probably nothing. Nothing against it and I'm sure it's a good system, but to me owning both PS4 and XB1 is a huge waste of money and space as someone who isn't particularly fond of either system's 1st party output.
 
Just bought a PS4 and I don't have any space left on my console shelf or HDMI plugs left in my receiver, so there isn't really much chance. Real pie in the sky stuff would be a price drop to $299, no Kinect, that rumoured Platinum exclusive, a really incredible showing from Quantum Break (and a guarantee that it'll never come to PC), Shadow Complex 2, Crackdown 3... I don't know, Ninja Gaiden Black HD Edition.
 
I don't really see how Microsoft is focusing on television too much. Their first party support is better than ever and they continue to improve.

There's more to play on the Xbox One than the PS4 at the moment.

My Xbox One is hooked up and prepped for Wolfenstein. Currently playing Lego The Hobbit.

All I hope for this E3 is Halo 2 Anniversary.
 
If they release a kinectless xbox you guys will be missing out. :)

I was all on board the diss kinect train but goddamn is the thing super convenient and awesome.

nothing really. unless they somehow buy nintendo,nothing. wii u already satifies my video game crave. i don't want a ps4 even lol. will probably get ps4 next year cause its cheaper and more powerfull ...so.. when wii u releases dries up ( so after im done collecting all the major 1st party wii u games )

MS needs to sell me on their vision for gaming. They showed their vision at E3 and it was ugly. Since then, they've made some good changes, but I really have no clue what their vision is. What kind of 1st party games do they have lined up? When are we going to see why they forced everyone to buy a Kinect? How bout move some money away from marketing and put it towards a 1st party IP?

I don't like supporting shitty companies if I can help it. Some of them are harder to avoid than others. I avoid Wal-Mart and Koch Industries products as much as possible, but sometimes I'm forced to give them my money out of convenience/lack of time. Microsoft, the Xbox brand in particular, is much easier to avoid compared to a Comcast or Wal-Mart. Last E3 really really tarnished the Xbox brand in my eyes. I'm not a fan of their anti-consumer policies. Until they show me with actions (removing Netflix from behind a pay wall is a good start), Xbox won't be seeing my money. Thankfully, they have no interesting 1st party titles (to me), so its pretty easy to avoid them
 
I dont get people saying no kinect + price drop. If they drop the price but keep the kinect, then what difference does it make? Just dont use it. What is so bad about kinect being in the box?
 
probably won't get one for a long time and it'll at least need to price drop down to 399, ditch kinect both in box and in concept.

and halo 5 would have to be infriggincredible.

It would take more than just a singular thing. They would have to prove they are going to be as diverse as the competition. Since Rare is a shell of its former self, and Black Tusk had their project shelved to make Gears I don't think they have enough studios to do that or even care to do so. People always talk about Nintendo playing it safe, but MS is taking the crown lately. Even their more off beat stuff are things they are only playing a publisher role.

I think their entire Op model depends on them being the market leader though, so they can leverage exclusive deals with third parties. Now that that is completely eroded it will be interesting to see what they do next. This E3 will be very telling in how prepared they were to support this console on the backs of their internal studios.

Pls not that bullshit again... Nothing against your opinion m8 but get your facts straight. PS4 had more game releases than xbone in April and March and has overall more games available than the xbone.

An investment in games that would not get funded from anyone else. But to be honest, it doesn't matter until the price is down to 299 at the least. I still have to buy a Wii U and PS4 before I get a One, so it would take some enormous exclusives to get me to get the One.

I fail to see how more games being available to play on ps4 is an opinion. It's a fact. I agree that we should stay away from the list wars but technically ps4 has more games. How did it come to this? Can't we all just agree that 12>9 for example.

Doesn't matter that 99.9999999999% of them are terrible. Apparently.
 
I already have an X1 but 3 or more of the below would satisfy my gaming needs so much that I would actually put off buying a PS4 or Wii U for another year or two:

New Banjo

New Alan Wake
New Battletoads
New Jetforce Gemini
New Forza Horizon
New Banjo Kart racer
 
What can they do to justify it being the primary console? (As someone who owns neither right now)

Have an absolutely amazing lineup you can not get on PC / PS4?

Very interested to see what 343 do with Halo next. See if they dared remake 2 within 4's veneer. But Halo 2 isn't going to get me to pick up a console, probably.

I'd be amazed too see something special with Kinect too (and no D4 does not count)

I don't see it happening, which is a pity.

Exclusives like Idolmaster 3 and some cool JRPGs, plus a price drop would get me to buy one, but that's about it. I'm not really interested in exclusive shooters or DLC or anything.
 
They can't show me anything that'll get me to buy one based on the show.

I'll wait until there are three exclusive games I want to play. So basically they have to announce three good games I want to play, then i'll wait until they've all released and I'll buy the system.

Should be a great deal cheaper by the time that happens.
 
Honestly? I don't think they can do anything. I just have no interest in owning another platform just to get at best a handful of exclusive games. With a PS4 and PC have way more games than I have time for anyway.

Though maybe depending on how the app situation and the promised retail Xbone as devkit goes I may buy one in the future as a home theatre front end as I continue to look in vain for a good stb that does all I want rather than having to have either a plethora of boxes doing one thing or a HTPC.

But as far as games goes, its done. I have no interest in additional platforms.

A new Viva Pinata would be pretty cool! Even if they shoehorned in Kinect controls, that might give a whole new depth to the whole thing, as silly as people would look playing it.

But for me, what would get me to budge would be actually putting up a fight and not just relaxing on their name. I want to see Microsoft really push back against Sony with some great games or interesting features, as right now it just feels like they're going through the motions. Because of that, I can see myself sticking with Sony this generation rather than having both, unfortunately.
 
The same as ever other console I've ever bought: games, games and more games. The 'must-have' E3 title might be Sunset Overdrive, Quantum Break, D4 or something completely new but compelling exclusives are what will make me buy one. A lower price point will help a lot too.

The only thing that would make me buy an Xbox One is old Rare IPs. Conker and Banjo specifically. Too bad they will never take those seriously.

Owning both an XB1 and PS4 is a huge waste of money in my case. PS4 is cheaper, more powerful, is guaranteed to get Japanese games like Persona, Tales and jrpgs and has a very good first party stable. Stuff like Project Beast just elevates it even further for me.

Simply put theres nothing MS can do unless they do something unimaginable like money hat FFXV and KH3 lol

$299 with Kinect, plus at least one new exclusive IP that really excites me (Sunset Overdrive maybe). I would have paid more but I don't see the point in paying more for a system that's less powerful than one I already have (ps4). I will not buy one for a multiplayer only game because I don't want to have to buy Live in order to play a game I just bought. Honestly if Titanfall had included a single player along with the multiplayer, I might have bought an Xbone then. And if I liked it, I probably would have paid for Live willingly.
 
What they have released and revealed for the future is enough. Just lower the price.

If Sony could lose that much per ps3 at launch, MS can lose a hundred or two on each console sold and keep kinect in there.
 
Amped 4, RalliSport Challenge 3, significant improvement to the once great Halo series, Rare making non-Kinect games, announcement of a couple more IPs, drop Xbox Live price or include additional bonuses.

It all comes down to unique games and justifying Kinect.
 
I have got a console for sub HD graphics, its called a 360...

Unlock some wizardry so that all games run at decent frame rate and full HD resolution with no tearing, and would consider.

Certainly. Just that for me more games, when I'm drowning in games now, isn't going to sell me on another 3-400 piece of hardware. Especially when 90% of the same games are on platforms I already own. I got burned last gen in that respect so I'm not going to do that again.

That said...a Steambox + Oculus. That I would buy.
