What dev would *you* kickstart?

I saw this post in the DoubleFine Kickstarter thread, and it got me thinking:

Despite the fact that this form of financing has been around a while, I wonder if Double Fine's success will be felt almost immediately with a rush of niche genre developers jumping in within the month. Could be the return to the importance once placed on people's names on the box instead of just brand names and franchises.

Who out there would *you* kickstart, if the option became available? I'm mentally running through the list of devs I'd do this for.

Tim Schafer & Ron Gilbert? Implicitly!

Roberta Williams? Probably.
Steve Meretzky? Mayyyybe.
Richard Garriott? Yes, with reservations.
Jon Ritman and Bernie Drummond? Tentatively.
Lawrence Holland and/or Edward Kilham? Definitely.
Brian Moriarty? Absolutely.
Warren Spector? Resoundingly.
Julian Gollop? Immediately.

Brendan McNamara? AHAHAHAHAHAHAno.

To single one out. I think Holland and Kilham would be the biggies for me, I would love to co-fund a new space shooter with their design skills. That said, I've absolutely no idea if they've still got an amicable relationship... or any feasibility to work together. Still, I've got a flightstick, I want to use it!

Edit: There's a few suggestions which wouldn't be all that feasible given how they're already very much locked into a publisher. I've committed the same mistake with Gollop, so I can't complain too much.

Warren Spector spearheading the evolution of Deus Ex along with Eidos Montréal. Then again, they already have funding, but eh. They probably need more considering the scope of the game!

Final Form Games ( jamestown )
Robot Entertainment ( Orcs Must Die, former ensemble cast )
Studio Pixel ( cave story )
Jonathan Blow ( Brrraaaid )

Someone host a Troika family reunion and get them to make a CRPG sequel to Arcanum.

Is this the time to fundraise Shenmue 3?

I would max out a credit card to fund this, as stupid as that is.

I'd also Kickstart Project Zero/Fatal Frame team for a PC/360/PS3 game; Spike + Fire Pro Wrestling, and really any Indie dev that has something awesome and interesting they want to make.

Kazuma Kujo/Granzella - buy up the Zettai Zetsumei Toshi 4 IP/assets and put that game out!

also Bumpy Trot 2

=/

Earlier this gen, I probably would have had a long ass list. At this point, not a single one. I have 0 confidence that any of these devs wouldn't go out their way to dick over me as a consumer if they got the chance.

The AKI Team (n64 style wrestling games)

Yep. I'm 100% convinced that this needs to happen, and can work. Someone just needs to round up a bunch of indie and Japanese feds and get them to sign on to the project. Can you imagine an AKI game with the combined rosters of ROH, Dragon Gate, CHIKARA, PWG, JAPW, NOAH, NJPW, AJPW, and DDT? Plus an awesome CAW mode?

Yeah. Would be the best thing ever.

Alternatively, I'll just accept a game full of wrestlers changed just enough that AKI can't be sued. :lol AKA the Fire Pro method.

The AKI Team (n64 style wrestling games)

If you're up to importing, try out the PSP Yakuza game, "Ryu ga Gotoku: Kurohyou".

"Syn Sophia" is the new name of the team formerly known as AKI, and you can definitely tell it was them who made the game. Even some of the animations from their wrestling/brawling games are recycled in that game!

Anyway, my choice would be Craft & Meister (Super DBZ, Earth Seeker). These guys are made up of ex-Capcom talent that could easily be making awesome fighting games of their own, if even their most recent Super DBZ is anything to go by. I'd love to see them try again.

Brian Moriarty? Absolutely.

I just got an erection from thinking of a Loom Trilogy Kickstart project.

I'd also Kickstart a Chris Avellone RPG PC-only RPG game inspired by the infinity engine game. A eal Planescape spirtual successor.

Bizarre Creations (PGR Sequel)

FROM SOFTWARE (Otogi Series Sequel)

Project Offset (The game that never came out)

Phantagram (STRIDENT and DUALITY)

Derek Smart/Denis Dyack joint.

In all seriousness I would kick a few dollars in for a new Space Quest game.

Jordan Mechner for developing a new game in the tradition of The Last Express.

Also: Team Ico, Quantic Dream, Tale of Tales and other devs with ambitious projects

Edit: And Chahi, of course!

Oh, and Eric Chahi.
I didn't play From Dust, but I loved everything else he did and would fund basically anything he'll do - But obviously I'll prefer another cinematic platformer of some sort.
