What do Japanese gamers think of Intergalactic? Let's find out

Thing is they are not really out of touch as they didn’t allow comments on their video, they knew the backlash was coming but wanted to shove certain ideas down our throats anyhow
I disagree with this. All they showed was a woman shaving her head because of some illness it looked like. We can't say they were shoving certain ideas down our throats when we know nothing about this character or the story itself at this juncture. We need to see more about the game, the story, the combat, and the main character before we can statements like this.

Then it was a piss poor way to make a first impression

Either way they seem to have gotten by far the most engagement out of all the videos from TGA

There was nothing in the trailer that indicated her shaved head was due to an illness. That's pure speculation at this point. Turning off the comments is basically saying "we don't give a shit what you think" and that's where I believe HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 was going with the "shoving down our throats" take.

You're attempting to apply reason to the unreasonable. It's not worth it.

I mean they got engagement and eyes on the game judging by twitter and on here with the numerous threads about said game like you're mentioning. I feel like the next trailer about the game is going to be the defining moment for it and determine whether people are interested in it or not.

She looks like a bounty hunter who's been through alot of shit in space. If the story is going to be gritty and fked up with alot of trauma then at least she looks the part. As i said in my previous comment it looks like she has an illness of some kind with the giant scar on her neck as well which points to why she's bald. Again we don't know enough about the story to make any definitive statements or judgments about the game.

This is the lowest low denomanitor. If they didn't want people to make judgement then don't release the trailer.
I honestly dunno why I have to explain that, but when a company is ready to release a trailer they are clearly interested on people perception. Same happens on the movie industry when they release a trailer, they want to know the reactions of the public. "Judging without knowing" its a ridiculous argument, if you don't to want to judge what you saw thats on you, but anyone will be judge what they saw wheter it's positive or negative. Everything you just mention is also pure speculation lol

Imagine spending years complaining about toxic masculinity, and then, when given the chance to, all female characters that they create, have all the bad traits of toxic masculinity.
This could be an SNL sketch, but it's reality in 2024.
Will never understand this, years of bitching about toxic male traits just to end up replacing men with butch lesbos with the same toxic traits and added bonuses like being snarky, self absorbing and condecending every damn second

And it's not like tomboys in real life don't exist if devs didin't wanna make a character with a complete femenine personality and traits 🤷‍♂️

Yes there are. She has a giant scar on the back of her neck that they show when she's shaving her head and there's a picture of her in a photo with the crew and she has hair. And tbh it's all speculation at this point because we know next to nothing about the game.

I'm glad this game exist.
It's going to be super expensive on money for both Naughty Dog and Sony.
And the game gonna flop wich Sony will have to make a decision to clear out everything with DEI into the company and sub-company, when they gonna see Gatcha/China/Korean game make more money than PSStudio. (Not speaking about Kadokawa if the buyout comes true).

This. The game will be the end of this crap in video games.

You should see the write up I did at Sweet Serenity Village about Stellar Blade. We had a bit of confusion at first, but with a bit of medication, things went swimmingly.

She is a bounty hunter. Scars are more likely from doing the job than an illness. But yeah....it is speculation either way.

Naughty Dog's newly revealed Intergalactic is inspired by Akira and Cowboy Bebop. What do Japanese gamers think? I've gone and taken a look at some popular Japanese Youtube videos covering the reveal. I previously did this for Oppenheimer, too, to get a better sense of what Japanese moviegoers thought about such a sensitive topic.

Machine translated from Japanese to English. Not an endorsement of any of the comments one way or another, just a fascinating look at their perspectives. I'd estimate that well over 99% of comments were negative.

What's the point of posting this? I doubt any of these people would even buy the game as Japanese tastes aren't exactly the same as in the West. Also, Japan has their own issues with women.

I haven't traveled to Japan but I've heard there are women only train cars,in the corporate world the Japanese men try to get pregnant women to leave their position. Though he's only one person, there's this Japanese politician who suggested Japanese women who don't get pregnant by a certain age should have their uterus removed.

This is more of a man than a women so "she" might be even trans.

I wished they would just have become a gaas studio at this point.

This is the results from all the people who bought TLOU 2, with around 15 million copy sold. Neil "Drunkman" saw the success he had with the controversial release, so he's just replicating that here. I suspect he's sitting at home, and absolutely loving the 99% negative Japanese reactions to the trailer. If you don't like what you are seeing from the idiot, then stop buying his games. Did you guys see all the product placements in the 6-minute trailer he put out?

What makes you think she was shaving her head because of an illness?

Yeah that is all I meant, I wasn’t guessing any type of sexual orientations or the likes just saying ND knew a large chunk of gamers would not like this character model yet that’s all they wanted to show us and turn off comments almost felt to a point of a gigantic fuck you to a lot of gamers.

Still interested in the game but showing me space travel but finding out its all on one world is a major bummer

I have nothing against this character but...

Remember when everybody hated the redesign of Cole in Infamous 2 and Sucker Punch ended up changing it back to the original before the release?

ND should take the L and do the same....

Take in mind, I think there was a reason why they chose the song “it’s a sin” for that trailer. the context behind the song is the feeling of being judged, guilt and freedom of expression, a simple way of saying “sorry not sorry” for the way the game or some of it’s ideologies will be interpreted or used. it’s one of the gayest songs without it saying it’s gay.

Yeah.....not sure why there is a space ship at this point. On the bright side, ND says they are really pushing the gameplay aspect. I think that very well may win some gamers over eventually as long as they don't push the woke angle too far. But saying "we don't care what you think" worries me. Shutting down discussion is an attitude that comes from the political fringe. That's not a good place to be these days.
