What do Japanese gamers think of Intergalactic? Let's find out

She looks like a bounty hunter who's been through alot of shit in space. If the story is going to be gritty and fked up with alot of trauma then at least she looks the part.
She doesn't act the part though. Her partner tells her that planet is incredibly dangerous and she doesn't give a fuck. No hesitation, no carefulness, just cocky smugness like an overconfident (and IMO insufferable) teenager. Then she plays a CD and blasts off with a smirk on her face.

Doesn't really set the stage for an emotional and gritty story, but maybe that contrast is intentional as part of the story. But the trailer itself doesn't communicate that at all.

So Sony can wake up and sak his egotistic ass!!

Sony should leave malfunctioned dystopian San Francisco and move back to Tokyo ASAP!
Exactly... And make the unique games that you had on PS1 and PS2... Ps3 too.

That is a lesson that it is not what they want, but their audience that must be heard and available.

Imagine spending years complaining about toxic masculinity, and then, when given the chance to, all female characters that they create, have all the bad traits of toxic masculinity.
This could be an SNL sketch, but it's reality in 2024.

In fairness the toxicity was always just human and got unfairly singled out.

Take that in non-reciprocated domestic violence, women are the perpetrators in more than 70% of cases. It's just usually that they can do less damage, but it's not that they have more control to not do it.

They say in the description that she gets stranded on the planet. Probably because of the overconfidence.

Why you will by shit for 15 dollars?
I would buy it for 15 dollars or less and used.

I'm not going to give my money directly to Druckmann.

If it's good... I doubt it... Otherwise, I'll send it to hell like The last of us part 1 remake and God of war Ragnarok...

I have a PS5, but that doesn't mean I'm going to buy toxic games like Spiderman 2.

Men are not allowed to be men.

Women however are allowed to be men.

Clown world.

I don't think these modern feminists understand what it is to be a strong men.
They don't understand that a strongmen is someone that works to be better, to provide for his family, to help and protect, to teach and help grow.
I bet most modern day feminists had really bad fathers, abusive, rude and violent. So now that they are adults, that is what they think is a strong man, because that is what they knew when growing up.
Without a proper male role model, they can't understand what it is to be a real man, a gentlemen, a responsible adult.

all u guys need to chill ur asses.

We dont know anything about the game yet. take it for what it is, if you want to not give a shit about it, thats fine as well.

But hating a product that nobody is forcing u to consume, really isnt worth it.
Play something else, i have alot of fun with PoE2 right now :)

Wish u all the best, the mental state of some people in here seems to have taken a big hit with that game.
Understandable. But you have to consider lots of folks like myself who love videogames and have a ps5 were looking forward for some new exclusives. ND is famous for solid gameplay and top notch production values. Even if I totally despise tlou2 story I'm able to tell they put a lot work into it. So granted, they know their craft.

This feels like consciously forced. 'We at ND are liberals and you gonna eat it in our game, we don't make beautiful characters for you chuds, incels and Trump voters, women are not here to be pleasing you'.

I have no doubt there is gonna be some dialog lines a la bigot sandwich.

And the trailer does not bring something else to the table to discuss cause there is no gameplay, no glimpse of mechanics, you don't know if is multiplayer , if it is coop. We had being left with a bald girl who is rendered uglier than the real life model and lots of clichés.

They've likely had zero father figures in their lives.

I am trying to figure out how we know this game is woke based off of the small trailer that was released. We see a bald chick that might be lesbian. Is that it? Is that what makes an entire game woke these days?

It very well could be all kinds of woke and it could fail big time. I am fine with that because gamers will have spoken with their wallets. The more agenda driven games that fail, the quicker studios figure out it is not working. However, I haven't really seen evidence that this game is work other than it has a bald female main character. We have had this in movies, TV shows and games in the past that were not pushing a political agenda.

That, or maybe they got me I am already woke.... 😲

This comment raises a very good question.

If they knew that people wouldn't like it, then why are they insistent on continuing down this path? What are they hoping to achieve?
Corporate wokeness/DEI is a union-busting strategy that's spiraled out of control. Every sector of the economy with a predominantly young and highly educated workforce is extremely vulnerable to unionization drives due to supermajority support for unions among younger workers.

Diversity initiatives are a proven countermeasure to unions because they destroy class solidarity by replacing the predominant us/them dynamic in the workplace (workers vs bosses) with an infinite number of race/gender/sexuality dynamics that need management-supplied referees to resolve (in management's favor, obviously).

The problem for management is that the costs of maintaining these DEI bureaucracies, both in terms of actual salaries and in terms of effect on the attractiveness of the end product, lower competence of workers, etc has increased to the point that it's probably cheaper to just let your workers unionize. But corporate America hates unions more than it hates woke, so expect this stuff to hold on until it becomes truly untenable.

This is part of the problem, though.
If the game was releasing with in 1 year, we've have a more solid indication of what the game is offering.

However, since so many companies insist on revealing games years in advance, we can only go by what is initially presented.

Maybe they're testing the waters, before they decide to make changes.
Maybe they are up their own buttholes thinking enough people will cream themselves over announcements of mysterious new product.

Honestly for me it looked like a cheap stupid copy of Guardians of the Galaxy. Just focusing on the main actress is dumb for criticism but i assume this character type wont fly in east or South east asia and well not in the west as well which makes it an incredible stupid business decision.

This is all based entirely on the character design and the fact that it is Naughty Dog, at this point. As I've said before, I don't really have a problem with the character, but I don't love it either. Is this dripping with woke-ism? No, I don't think so. But that is being extrapolated from what is being presented and the overall trend in gaming to make women look more masculine.

You obviously haven’t been to a WalMart in the Midwest :)

Was about to say.....head to downtown Atlanta and you'll see plenty of lesbians who clearly want to look like men. Not "all" by any stretch, but.....well, you just know when you see them.

Was looking forward to this, shame if it's ruined by DEI nonsense. I'm not sure some woman with her head shaved is prove of this though.

At this point they should just revisit jax and daxter and rediscover what makes a game actually fun.

One thing that's fucked up about all of this, is that if you're a Western Dev who's making games like this, and you see where the winds are blowing, it's going to take years to course correct. Many games in full production right now likely can't ask for extra time and money to redesign and make adjustments. Minor changes sure, but not for something like the MC of Intergalactic, and god knows what sort of wildebeest of a woman Neil is using for their other game.

The American Western Games market is so fucking cooked. Asia and European game devs are going to dominate these next few years.

You're absolutely right about the course correction thing, this has been in development for 4 to 5 years and...it shows, things/average user's mindset has changed since then.

You know what would be the easiest, less time and money consuming method for them ?
Being able to actually customize the hairstyles/brows/make up etc etc and maybe tweak the face model a little bit.
Then again, this is ND we're talking about and Druckman's ego is so big that they won't do that even if they can.

I'm not one to engage in "woke" politics about games but, I think that this will come to bite them in the ass if they don't do even some minor course correction - the fact that they turned off the comments section on their own YT channel says it all really, they KNEW this was coming after the various furores of the past few months (Concord/DA Veilguard etc etc).

We had a lot of people saying Xbox fans didn't know how to handle the controversy surrounding Avowed a few weeks ago. Looks like the same is true for Sony/Naughty Dog fans. This controversy is uncharted territory to them.

I'm sure Sony is happy to give creative freedom to a director who made them many successful games and also executive produced a HBO tv series based on one of them.

I have nothing against this character but...

Remember when everybody hated the redesign of Cole in Infamous 2 and Sucker Punch ended up changing it back to the original before the release?

ND should take the L and do the same....

I vaguely remember that. Got damn we loved our bald MCs back then didn't we.

A Japanese strong independent female character

ff7-rebirth-blogroll-art-1707220502184.jpeg
Western dev logic: female beauty = weak, feminine traits = weak, woman = every being that says it belongs to that demographic

And this is not attacking the actress doing the mocap for Space Aang from Avatar, because she's objectively pretty, it's just her hair, but that's her body and her choice, her character though, doesn't look quite like her, it's the same case with Aloy and her mocap actress, devs rough up the models to be more like female dudebros or something :messenger_grinning_smiling:

Agree, I'm against all this woke nonsense and the Hogwarts Legacy situation was one of the low points i've ever seen in gaming, but also not rushed to dislike anything starting a woman, the MC isn't the coolest but not awful imo, don't see any forced agenda, but how could i from a short trailer, i can totally understand people not liking the MC design btw, but i need to see more before judging.

A mod finally had enough of mibu's passive aggressive replies. Intergalactic is breaking people over a teaser trailer lmao.

Goes to show the west wasn't the only side that had an apprehensive and perplexed reaction.

Let's pray that Kadokawa is bought by another Company... Nintendo or some other company... Not by Sony. Or that they get ahead.
I get the feeling, that with the way things are going, a PS organizational reshuffle/restructuring is near and they will turn the ship around eventually.

In any case, if the deal goes through, Hulst better keep his fingers off From Software, Acquire and Spike ChunSoft. Someone on the Japanese side of things needs to be manage them.
